Switched from Lantus to Levemir
I was taking 35 units of Lantus and also taking 10 or less units of Humalog. I switched to Levemir taking the same dosage, and I have not had to take any of the Humalog. So far my blood sugar is pretty awesome.

Even though I wake up with my BS this morning of 250, all I took was the levemir and had an atkins shake with my metformin and now before lunch BS is 115. I have no idea how that can be but I am happy. Oh, and I even went from 35 units to 30. The reason it is high in the morning is because I drink in the evening and do not watch my carbs as closely after that. Plus, before drinking in the evening, I have to raise my sugar a tad by eating something carby, because if I dont I might get a real low and not realize it. That is why I lowered the lantus some so that it wont be so low in the evening before drinking and I wont have to eat something carby to raise it.

knocked the levemir down to 25 units. I will see what happens and go back up from there if needed.

Are you type 2? I did Lantus for a while.

I slowly weaned myself down when I started LCing. I took away a few units per night until I no longer needed it. I'm not saying that you need to do that...just sharing my experience. Do you eat LC?
I saw where you drank an Atkins shake. You've been here a lot longer than me, so you probably already know this, but the sugar alcohols could cause a BS issue. Just a thought.

Hey Babsy, how are things going with you and your switcharoo? Are you still taking only the lev and not humalog? How's that going?? Are you continuing to have any loss with it?
I'm still at it over here with lev only...and no novalog. The BS control is good. I'm happy with that. The weight loss however didn't continue. BUT, I'm not gaining. It's possible that the body is just adjusting to the changes still...and I have hope that I'll be able to work these pounds off, with this newest approach. :aprayer:
I can't wait to hear how you're doing!! :hugs:
