Janumet
Hi, after years of chronic diarrhea with Metformin my doc has switched me to Janumet, which seems fine with blood sugar control. But the more I read about it the more I am inclined to go back to the metformin. anyone have experience with Janumet?

Hi! My endo switched me from Metformin to Janumet a couple of years ago, right after it came out, and I took it for a while, but after reading about it recently, I stopped taking it and went back to Metformin and stricter low-carb. My BG numbers are just as good now as they were with the Janumet.
That may not help you at all, but most of the oral meds for Type II diabetes on the market now'days just scare me! I will stick to Metformin...but do agree, the stomach distress can be bothersome for some folks. Good luck! |

How about taking the extended release Metformin? I switched to that and I can't believe the difference...it's like night and day. Trust me, I was in the bathroom ALL DAY!
You still have to watch what you eat but it's so much better now. HTH |

I agree, if you were on regular metformin it is worth giving the ER version a try before moving on to something else, especially if it was working for you and the issue was the side effects. The info on the Blood Sugar 101 website about most diabetes drugs other than metformin is kinda scary.

Does the ER version do as well as regular MetFormin for your numbers. Did you see any change? I may ask in march when I go back to dr

It's gonna be the same dosage, just slowly released instead of dumping all at once into your system...I had my gallbladder out 33 years ago and have always had an issue with going to the bathroom right after I eat or drink because of the surgery. Metformin reg made this ten times worse. Extended is the way to go if this is your main concern..Maybe it will help, maybe it won't but it's worth a try.

I agree, try the ER version before going to something else. Personally, I feel that any other diabetes med than Met is dangerous. If that ever stops working, I'm going to insulin, which is really what you need anyway if you're not making enough anymore.
