Type 3 Diabetes?
The New York Times had a fascinating piece that hypothesizes that the increase in Alzheimers might, like the increase in Type 2 diabetes, be related to insulin/insulin resistance problems. This is really going to make it hard for the anti-low carb crowd if it turns out to be true.

I've heard about this before, I'm glad it's starting to get some attention. I wonder why they felt the need to throw in "processed meats" as a cause of diabetes. Does that meat deli meats? They may have some carbs, but hardly enough to cause outrageous blood sugar spikes.

I am running across this information about Alzheimer's being linked to insulin resistance in many places, including the dementia related message boards. It may tell part of the story, but not many people have the good results that Dr Newport had with her husband.

Interesting article. I may be wrong but they also mentioned in the article about nitrates which would explain the processed deli meats.
