Well, I take it every day. I can't guarantee that *just* taking it at TOM will help. But, let us know!

Hey, it can't hurt to try it! I don't like to take pain meds, as it can cause BG spikes, so if this works it would be fab.

Just an addendum...I think I mentioned this concern earlier...

According to a couple "food combination" websites I looked up:
Proteins digest best in an acid stomach environment;
starches digest best in an alkaline stomach environment.

I don't follow "food combination" rules, but I don't combine these two very much anyway,
since I'm doing a pretty low-carb diet right now.

To be on the safe side, if I put baking soda or alkaline minerals in my water,
I drink that between meals/before bed/on empty stomach.
After meals, I add lemon or lime, which will, I hope, aid digestion of proteins.

I've had pretty bad acid reflux in the past, so I don't want to aggravate it!

(Re-posting from another thread: )

Another benefit that I noticed quite a while ago, but don't think I mentioned--

Greatly reduced pain/creakiness in the morning!

I don't wake up in a *lot* of pain, but my ankles aren't particularly flexible in the morning, so I have to "shuffle" for a little while; and my back might feel a bit stiff. Takes a little while--or a hot shower--to loosen up.

However, when I drink the alkaline water and especially if I take a little extra baking soda before bed, I wake up feeling quite normal, flexible, and pain-free.

I'm going to try something alkalizing, probably the lemon juice because it seems to be the easiest and maybe a little baking soda.

I recall thinking I would try baking soda once before and don't remember why I decided it wasn't a good idea but I see there is some concern with overdoing it which is most likely defined as more than 1 1/2 to 2 teaspoons per 24 hour period. A also read a warning that bs can deplete the body of B vitamins, especially folic acid and also may be chromium but I'm not sure of the validity of that. Some sites I've read said to only take it for 3 weeks at a time. All of them said to make sure it's entirely dissolved before drinking and not to take on a full stomach.

I see Netrition sells a good looking product called: Alkazone, Alkaline Booster Mineral Drops. A bit pricey compared to some pH drops but one benefit I see is that these are potassium based and taken in the dose recommended would provide 750 mg of potassium a day. A good combo with the baking soda perhaps, to counter the extra sodium.
