Wheat Bread and Blood Sugar

Question to anyone. I can't wrap my brain around it.

I have Nature's own double fiber wheat bread. I can eat this and it doesn't raise my BS when I check Post P. 2 hours.

My question is, if it doesn't raise my blood sugar am I still considered eating low carb?

and for weight loss if you keep your blood sugars normal and not spiking is that considered low carb?

I think no....you may make a good amount of insulin, secrete it right away and use it well enough to keep your bgs from spiking. Like normal non-diabetic people do. They are still often overweight and could benefit from eating less carbs. Grains are the first area to look at whe you want to lose. The insulin working well so you don't spike doesn't mean the extra carbs aren't contributing to weight gain or at least a stall.

Are you checking your BG at 1 hour? When I eat carby stuff like that (rarely), I get the biggest spike at 1 hour. By 2 hours I'm usually back down to normal.

And even though cutting out the grains has helped my D tremendously, I still wouldn't eat them now if I wasn't diabetic. I feel like a million bucks now that grains are out of my diet (goodbye, heartburn, for one!).

Vilya and girodet,
I'm going to start checking at 1 hour. My levels have been wacky the past two days and making me crazy. LOL Feels like someone is telling me to stop fooling myself and get back to total low carb..........
thanks,
Bethy
