Glucose Level is 62!

I have Type 2 diabetes and take 1000mg. of Metformin 2x daily. I am starting week 2 of Atkins Induction and I just took my blood sugar level, and it is only 62. I don't know what to do; what should I eat to raise it?

15g carbs should be enough to raise it enough.

Need Help, Again!

I am doing ok this a.m. My fasting blood sugar was 97. Last night after getting the 62 reading, I had a full-blown anxiety attack. My husband retook my blood glucose with his meter, and my reading was in the 90's, so the one I took may have been a bad strip or some kind of fluke. I took a Xanax and went to bed, and my husband checked on me throughout the night.
When I was first diagnosed with diabetes , I was told there are some kind of tablets I can carry in case the glucose level drops too low, but I can't remember the name of them. Do any of you have any idea what they're called? I'm going to the drug store and ask the pharmacist, too.
Another question: Since my Fasting Blood Glucose, was 97, and if I eat 3-5 carbs for breakfast, should I still take my Metformin? I am so new to Atkins, I don't what to do. So confused and scared!

The tablets are just glucose tablets. Available over the counter in any pharmacy. There is also a gel which may be easier to get down.

I have type 2 diabetes also and take metformin and glipizide. The metformin will not cause you to go low in and of itself, but helps your body use your insulin better. You may need to up your carb intake some by eating a piece of fruit with your meals. Also, talk to your doctor. You may need to increase your carb limit some. Also if you can test your blood sugar several times a day you can get a better understanding of how carbs you eat affect you. Keep glucose tablets or sweet tarts or smarties in your purse in case you need them. Also if you are not already doing so, you may want to log what you eat and track carbs. Dealing with diabetes and low carb can be tricky and what may work for others may or may not work for you.

Whatever source of glucose you take for hypo's takes "time" to work. 10 to 15 minutes usually should produce results, if not then consider an additional dose/tablet.
