Tybeanna,
Did you see these reductions right away after starting the ACV? Or was it a few days or weeks? I've tried it a couple of days, and then off a couple of days and no noticeable difference in morning BG for me. Let me know your routine. Thanks!

My problem is I may get up with my BG 100 but then it continues to rise for about 2 hours may hit 130 and then slowley come down. I just wonder if some of it in the morning
would help stop it going up?

E.W.,
Are you eating after your initial reading? I find that mine will start going down not long after eating because my pancreas is kicking in again.

E.W.,

My BG will also keep rising in the morning if I do not eat. I take my Synthoid and then eat about 30 min. later. If I don't, I will creep up.

I eat almost no carbs in the morning, either. The A.M. seems to be the trickiest time for all of us!

I may have tried eating a little in the morning and it didn't seem to help. I may
give it another little try with just some protein.

It won't be immediate. I usually try to wake up first thing and eat an ounce of cheese, or a deviled egg or something that's both protein and carbs. Usually gets the old pancreas secreting again.

Below 100 is good.

I wonder if it is the acid in the vinegar that helps?

The reason I say that is I usually get up between 3 & 4am, but don't have breakfast until about 6:45AM and when I get up I am usually at 86 to 91 (my target is 88,so I am good there) but I used to get a 20 to 30 point 'dawn rise' between then and 6:30 (I shoot insulin 15 mins prior to eating) until I started drinking hot lemon water at about 5:15 (gotta have some coffee first, lol), but since I started with the lemon water, my numbers have stayed consistent with my 1st reading.

Apple Cider/ACV

I am a newbie on this site so I have questions regarding ACV and apple cider vinegar remedy for diabetes, type II. I am a sceptic at heart and try to take my doctor's advice, but I have become so frustrated that I began to try the apple cider vinegar and cinnamon method along with 1500 metformin and januvia. (doc prescibed). The vinegar (2 teaspoons in am and 2 teaspoons at night) killed my stomach and did not do anything for my blood suar readings. So, perhaps I am doing something wrong. Maybe the ACV will help since it is a tablet. Any suggestions? I have been sick for the last 2 days and had very little to eat, but still took the Metfomin and Januvia. My reading this morning wa 161. HELP....

Hi, I'm also a newbi on this sight. I've been reading your posts and this acv has caught my interest. I'm all over the board with my readings. I take 2000 mg of met 1000 in am and 1000 in pm plus Lantus at bedtime but I'll easily shoot up 100 points in the am ie 4 am reading 190 7am reading 200 to 300. Is there a special acv you all buy? I just got the one from Publix. Will this work?

JMS1, If it is going to work for you this one is fine. most like the ACV with the {mother,} the brown stuff floating in the jug} in it, health food stores sell it.

Well friends it works! For me at least. Took 2 tbsp of the Publix brand 1/22 and woke up for the first time in months at 155. The rest of the day Iran in the 90's, which I have not seen in eons. I was not feeling very good last night and did not take it but woke up with 165. Have taken my morning dose and we'll see how it does tomorrow. Thanks guys you've made me a happy camper.

ordered it from Netrition

Hi I have been reading this thread through my email.
I'm lowering my carbs again, and I'm insulin resistant. My morning numbers have just started creeping up, and after meal numbers as well. I regained some weight and I think this may be some of the reason. I need to dial it back and concentrate on what I'm eating and get out of denial LOL.

I have what maybe a dumb question: do you shake the ACV before you use it?
I just ordered some from netrition and want to try it and see how I do.

Thanks in advance!
Bethy

Um this may not be typical, but....

I tried my first dose of ACV this morning after breakfast. I had one piece low carb bread toasted with 1/4 cup egg beaters, slice of American cheese, and one slice Canadian bacon. butter on toast. and took 500 of metformin. (I'm on 1000 tabs 2x a day but I cut them back to 1/2 doses a while ago.)

Then I thought well, why don't I try the ACV to see if I like the taste. I made about 8oz water, 1 tablespoon ACV, and 1 packet stevia.

Morning blood sugar was 108, I drank the ACV right after breakfast.

Right before lunch I tested and it was 74 ! Holy crap! I could tell it was lower because I always get cold when it's low, plus I was hungry.

So for lunch I had 2 pieces low carb bread and made a turkey sandwich and a sugar free pudding. After about 1 hour I tested and it was 94, and I just tested now about mid after noon 3pm and it's at 86.

I'm insulin resistant and taking 1/2 my dose of Metformin at the moment.

I'm wondering if this is a fluke?

I did rinse, rinse, rinse after drinking the acv.

I'm still in a little 'whoa' state of mind.

Going to try it tonight before bed, and I'll let you know how I make out. Should I be concerned about it going toooo low while I'm sleeping?

I personally would hold off on the bedtime dose for a few days and see if you keep getting the low readings. Although "technically" it's not considered dangerous unless your BG goes below 70 you are certainly skirting that zone.

I would be very interested in knowing if you keep getting the same results.

Hi! I am new to this forum but am excited to be a part of it. I think it will help me with my newly adopted low carb diet.

I am a type 2, not on any meds. My numbers have been pretty good since I started following a very low carb diet just over a week ago. My morning numbers, however, not so much. In trying to figure out what has been going on I have been testing in the middle of the night (between 2 and 3:30) and have had numbers 177+.

I just got glucomannan, which I will start today, but I am also going to try ACV. Dr. Oz did a segment on it a few months ago and recommended 1 Tbs red wine vinegar with 1 tsp psyllium husks in a glass of water before meals.

I will let you know if I see a difference in my numbers over the next few days. Of course it will be impossible to say which one helps but right now my goal is to get my night/morning highs under control. Maybe later I will experiment to see what benefits either gives by itself or if they are better together.

Bragg Vinager with mother

I too am T2. I don't call it that though. I call it fat induced diabetes. I started calling my situation that years ago. I totally wrecked my health eating what I wanted to eat.

Last March I started low carbin. I was on two different kids of insulin. Novalog and Lantus.

I have the back seat of my truck full of the stuff. I tried taking it back to drug store and they told me sorry. They did not help with disposing of insulin.

I continued to get my scrips filled because I thought like so many times before I would start with all attentions of losing and fail. BUT this time it is different.

I have lost 100 pounds.

I really wanted to say that Walmart carries the Bragg with the mother in it. I have been getting it from there for a while.

Best Wishes and Great Success!

You might want to ask your doctor to put you on Victoza instead of Januvia. My morning numbers have been consistently below 100 even down to 84 a couple of times since I started last week and I'm down 5 pounds.

Sadly though, I've been told by others that some insurance won't cover it and that it is very expensive without insurance.
