Anyone taking Victoza?

I have been taking Novolog for each meal based on 1:3 ratio and Levemir 60units at night plus 2,000 daily of Metformin. Still blood sugars not in control. Last A1C 7.9. So, 1 1/2 weeks ago doctor put me on Victoza. Anyone else taking this injectable medication. So far I have had nausea and stomach cramping pretty bad but have read that this should pass in a couple of weeks. I've lost 3 lbs. too from the nausea. It's supposed to be like Byrettta only better.

what are you eating? I am surprised your insulin needs are that high if you are low carbing

my diabetes is terrible, and I eat about 20 grams of carbs net a day. my total is about 50 units a day and that gives me an A1c of 5.6-5.7. that is with Metformin too.

My endo. doctor does not "believe" in the benefits of low carbing even tho I have proved to her time and again that when I LC my blood sugars are better. Right now, I have gotten away from it again. Trying to get back on the right path that I know works for me which is low carbing. I do a modified South Beach at this time.

Just wondering if anyone else here on Victoza?

Jo

my doctor's don't "believe" in it either. if I followed the diet the recommend, I would probably weigh 450 lb by now, if I was still alive, which is not a bit certain. I am serious. it was killing me fast! I have no issues with just smiling and nodding and doing my own thing now.

Victoza

I've been on Victoza since 4/8. I started with 0.6 first week, 1.2 second week, and been on 1.8 since. My A1C was at 5.3 at my start time. I saw the doc at 6 weeks in, and I was only down 5 lbs. Needless to say, I was dissappointed. He told me I should lose 20 lbs. In the beginning, I was a little nauseated, but after a little while it did go away. Doc didn't tell me that would be the reason I lost weight. I seem to feel this way more in the morning than any other time. I want to add that I also take Metformin, which upsets my tummy if not taken with food. I take my shot between 12-12:15pm, it fits my schedule better. I tried to get off it at my 6 week appointment because I don't feel it's helping me any. He told me I'd have to go back on the Lantis then, and I busted my butt to get off it, that's why my A1C was at 5.3 compared with the 7.3 it was at earlier before my low carb woe. So needless to say, I'm on it for now, and hopefully I can get off of it soon. I hate needles but I have to admit, this shot doesn't hurt at all compared to the Lantis.
