Why does my bg go up when...
Why does my bg go up when I haven't eaten anything.. nor gotten any activity?
I am new to keeping track of my bg, not officially diabetic, but my bg levels are not good.. Anyway, I try to eat dinner early and then test a few hours later and it is for example 105 and then a few hours after that and it is 126??? Going up with no food or drink? I still have problems with am bg, but since reading up a bit, i understand (a little) about why that is. I am really trying to get my bloods under 100 and am getting discouraged.. I have started 1000mg of metformin and a lower/mod carb diet... and am not getting the results I want.. I also worked out today and my bg went up to 144 after! Yikes... Does anyone know what to do about that? Thanks for any and all info.. I so appreciate you sharing your knowledge with me. Judy |

Hi Judy,
Do read Jenny's site ... I find I re-read many of her articles ... just to cement the information in my brain! ![]() Try to be patient with yourself and your blood sugars. It's tough ... and I know that you want instant success. I think we have all been guilty of that. The trick is to realize that "control" comes with time ... and persistence. You have to track your successes ... set smaller goals along the way ... and try to understand the instances when things aren't going as you expected. I've also found that it's far more important to view things in terms of "trends" rather than individual readings. Sometimes it seems as if nothing you're doing is right ... but if you stay the course, you'll find that overall, your bg readings will get better. I know it's tough to stay positive ... but it really is worth it in the long run. Hang in there ... Mary |
