I went to the grocery store earlier. At the checkout line there was a magazine called Diabetic Living with a picture of a CAKE. I looked inside. They said on a 65 carbs per meal diet - you can have this cake! WTH! 65 CARBS PER MEAL!!! I've noticed that books and cookbooks for diabetics seem to think the more carbs the better. Recipes with 55 carbs, or 60 carbs, or 40 carbs... I told my doctor that I wanted to go to a dietician, but I did not want to go to one who subscribed to ADA. I told him the ADA advocates eating sweets and carbs, and he looked at me like I was crazy. Then I said go to their website. The look on his face said - BRAIN WASHED IN MEDICAL SCHOOL! I wanted to tell him he needed to read up outside of the medical box and think outside of it as well. What is up with the whole world trying to tell diabetics that eating low carb means 45-65 carbs PER MEAL? I went with my husband to one of those workshops where we were told to eat 35-40 carbs PER MEAL. No wonder we are having a hard time getting it under control. DH is on insulin and meds, and now he seems to think he can eat carbs because of the meds, but his BG shoots through the sky. I confess that I've been in denial until recently. I think I am venting all of my frustrations in one post...

That's about how I feel right now...
