Alcohol
What is everyone's take on drinking alcohol, especially red wine? I'm a big, big wine drinker and I know if I find out on Thurs. I've got out of control BG then it's something I am going to have to address and don't want to.

That's a complicated problem. I think maybe a small glass of red (5 oz) once a day might be fine, but what I imagine when I hear "big wine drinker" sounds like a lot more than would be healthy for you. Ask your doctor.
Good luck! --bill |

If you like dry wine that's fine. It will lower it. At least it does mine. A shot of hard liquor will do the same but I don't like it unless it's in something sweet and that's a no no. I always thought all alcohol was metabolised like carbs but it's not true. It's in Dr. Bernsteins book.
I have found the Pinot Noir's and Shiraz's to be best for lowering glucose. And sometimes cabernet sauvignon will doit. Has to be really dry. |

Just googled and found out it's vermouth. If it's dry it's probably okay. See what the alcohol content is. The higher the better. And if in doubt..........test.
