Diabetic Portable Snack/Meal

One take-along option for movie theater, jury duty, and other "out & about" activities . . a Walmart travel bar-soap container will hold 1 ounce of party peanuts (5g carbs/170 cal), 1 ounce cut-up jerky (6g carbs/80 cal), and a cut-up 1 ounce cheese stick (<1g carb/80 cal). A one-pound bag of World Kitchens beef jerky is around $12 at Walmart, but is relatively high in sodium (580mg per ounce). Another option is to boil cut-up beef weiners to reduce fat and sodium.

Some variation of a tortilla roll is another option. Example . . 6" Mission Carb-Balance whole-wheat tortilla (4g net carbs/80 cal), a slice of provolone cheese (0g carb/70 cal), 4 thin slices of beef (around 1g carb/50 cal).

Yum. I try not to eat beef jerky too often since it has added sugar, but I do love it when I go to the movies.

This is a great informative post.

Like you, I also take string cheese and nuts. Easy. Quick. Delicious.

Never thought about a wrap. I am not eating tortillas just yet, but when I start, i'll give it a try.

Thanks for sharing.

An old time favorite of mine is dehydrated strawberries w/dry roasted almonds. So good. I haven't had that in a while. Hmmm. I'll bring it back.

The soap container is a great idea! thanks so much for sharing.

I do the mission wraps for lunch, now that none of the stores in my area are carrying the lower carb SB diet wrap meal that I like.
