Interpret my numbers please!

I just got back bloodwork numbers and need help interpretating them :) Bit of background on me-5'6, 34 year old female who has lost 40lbs since last fall and I'm now in maintenance at 133-135lbs. I've never exercised, but have just added walking a few weeks ago. I started after I got my blood work done I think? I do not follow a lc plan but do IF. For supplements I take a daily probiotic and a baby aspirin, to help prevent blood clots (had one last spring).

My doctor said all my blood work is normal, except for a D deficiency (21 ouch!). This is something I've tested deficient for in the past but I'm finally following doctors orders to fix it and will be starting to take 4,000 ud of D3 a day, startiing today, (doctor recommended 3,000 but I found it in 4,000 strength on sale lol).

Ok, so he said my cholesteral numbers looked good, but then doing some googling it looks like my HDL number is too low :dunno:

Total cholesteral-163
HDL-47
LDL-99
triglycerides-86
Coronary heart disease risk 3.5 (under 4.4 is ideal)

Thoughts??

There are some dr's who would even say your total cholesterol is too low. Over on the
hyperlipid blog he refers to the J-lite study you might find it interesting.

Wow, I had no idea there was even such a thing as too low of cholesteral! I have been doing IF with the typical SAD diet, but am getting ready to transition to IF and primal eating, over the next few months, as well as beginning strength training. It will be interesting to see what my numbers are next year.

I just finished watching this. Thought I would pass it on. Thanks to our old budy Misty for posting on FB.

Your HDL number is low. While 40 is the minimum in range, doctors prefer it in the 60 range--and it can't be too high. My own ranges from 95-110, and my doctors are ecstatic (and jealous).

Do you eat enough omega 3? Raising your D3 is important, but I'd also try to raise that HDL. If you have more omega 6 than 3, I'd supplement with fish oil. Fish oil tends to thin the blood, and you might be able to have that instead of the aspirin.
