Healthy Summer Meals/Snacks for kids
With the kids getting out of school on friday it got me to thinking about meals and snacks for summer. I am currently making my menu for the next two weeks, school is in all this week ~ but next week should be when they start to eat any/everything in site just because their schedule will be different.
I need ideas for snacks and meals and thought we could all share ideas....I mean 4 growing kids have the potential to eat A LOT if I dont have stuff prepared:stars:
I have 4 as well and the snacks we keep during summer are
Sugar snap peas
Baby bel cheese
Shredded wheat cereal unsweetened
Sfpudding in the freezer
bumping.... we have a pool now and this means the kids hunger never ends so I am looking for some ideas.
Well, I only have half the number of children you do, but when they were little and home on vacation I would start every day with a big, late-ish breakfast. Eggs, fruit, toast, etc. Then in the early afternoon I would put out a tray of stuff- cut up veggies, fruit, olives, cheese, sandwich triangles (we call them party pieces) and they could eat what they wanted for lunch, then graze later if they wanted to.
I made many, many batches of healthy-ish oatmeal cookies with applesauce, dried fruit, nuts, etc.
You might designate a drawer in the fridge or a basket that are snacks they can get on their own and keep healthy stuff there.
