Happy Tuesday ~ Made it through another day. Okay, it isn't over yet and honestly I am forcing myself to post. No meetings tonight and I just want to go to bed.

Not sure about my goal of thinking before I eat because I find my entire day is consumed with eating.

I'm generally pretty confident and grateful but I'm just "off".

But I'm here. Thanks for listening.

Hey Cindy-sending good thought your way . I have days when I just need to sleep. Hope you have a good rest and wake up refreshed.
I do most of my thinking about food on the weekends when I plan and cook for the week. Then during the week I don't have to think about what I am eating. It can get pretty boring-I usually make a bunch of chicken breasts, bacon, egg salad or tuna salad, regular salad-then I eat it all week. I do change things up a couple of times a week and eat out.

Wow congrats on avoiding the temptation, Jo -- that is awesome! Someone posted a quote that I have posted on my frig (which has become a motivational board these day) that inspires me:

“At the end of the day, I will NOT regret what I DID NOT eat!”

For me ... for those of you that remember, DH and I were and/are still having difficulties. I just finished another fundraising event, it was lots of fun but during the process, I have picked up a summer cold.

My goals for this challenge:

1. Think before I eat.
2. Drink more water.
3. Gratitude Journal.
4. Lose 5 lbs and keep it off.

Have a great day everyone
Cindy, sorry about your summer cold!! Can you explain more about your Gratitude Journal or is that exactly what it sounds like?

At my current slow rate, 13 pounds in 2 months is still a tall order. Of course, ANYTHING is acceptable and if at the end of the challenge I am within 5 pounds, I'd be thrilled with that, too.

So I'm glad to have this Labor Day goal as a current focus, and then I'll shift from scale goals to measurements goals as fall and cooler weather hits to re-focus my brain on firming and toning.
Wow only 13lbs to your personal goal weight -- that's wonderful!! I'm over here cheering you onward and DOWNWARD, MM!!!

Have you tried pork rinds, sk8ter? Holy Hannah, they are my ticket when I need something salty and crunchy and perfectly "legal" on a LC WOE - no carbs!!

I could eat all day too, Cindy -- cause I have a bottomless pit.

Then I figured out that it wasn't so much the eating part but the amount part -- so what's worked for me is not to eat until late in the day where I can have my huge portion and be sated cause "I'm not hungry until I put FOOD in my mouth!" I'm not a breakfast person (haven't been since grade school), so I really only cut out one meal a day and I've been doing that since 5 July 2013.

It's difficult not to think about food or eating...since we have to eat. Like you, Jo, I do all my "heavy" cooking on the weekend. The more I touch, prep or cook food, the more I overeat since those are my triggers to overeat. My menu is pretty boring/simple but I don't have to think about what I'm eating I just have to nourish my body and move on.

Just Jo - I had run out of pork rinds Wed. night. My 16 year old son (who is 5'10" and weighs about 118 lbs) ate the last bag. I need to go to Dollar Tree and get some more. They have some good bbq pork rinds there.

Last night I managed to stay on-plan. Split a 12 ounce package of low-sodium turkey bacon with my son for a snack. It was great and easy to eat low carb that way.

Have a great Friday!

I am just doing general low carb. I try to keep my carbs below 30 a day. I have read DANDR, SugarBusters, Carbohydrate Addicts Diet, and trying to work my way through Wheat Belly.

I'm trying to focus on what works for my body for a lifestyle change instead of a diet. I am finding I need to be careful with dairy and trying not to worry to much if I over indulge a bit with berries. I love fruit and have found that if I feel like I'm missing out on everything I am setting myself up for a big cheat.

Hi everyone...congrats to everyone that is chugging along.
The Sears repair man is here again for the 4th time, 3rd time for the ice maker. He is trying to get the part waived by the mgr. Or else I have to pay for another part. Will I buy Sears again if he doesn't? We'll see. UPDATE! He waived the cost of the part & labor. Then he tried to sell me a service contract. I told him I would talk it over with my husband.

I had a rough night emotionally. I had to journal a lot and will be doing some tapping to work through the emotions. The Tapping Solution has made a big difference in my healing. My doctor yesterday suggested using it to help with the weight problems so I bought the book and will take a look at it. It is non-invasive and can't hurt.

Those are powerful words, Finding: "I feel like I'm missing out on everything I am setting myself up for a big cheat."

At least you know what your triggers are!! And to me, if you're eating whole natural foods, you can't go wrong, it's all that processed and fast food crap that's way unhealthy.

Thanks, Jo!

I have been drink, drank, drunking my water the last couple of days. Whew! Normally I get it in but I struggle. The heat has broken temporarily and I'm trying to convince myself to run. I'd rather swim but the weather did me in again! I will swim tomorrow and Sunday but next week will be tough, so I MUST run. I am also doing a 30-day plank challenge. Ugh.

I am going to attempt a no cheese week next week so I'm emptying the freezer and cooking up some meat to have on hand. Got to get to the store for some eggs to do a lot of hard boileds to just grab and snack on like I do cheese. I want to see how I do without it. I know it'll be tough because I rely on it so. I can't do without indefinitely, but I should be able to do one week and see if I can do it till "goal". So many people swear that dairy makes them stall and so I just want to experiment.

MadMarsha- I too eat too much cheese. I wonder if I would loose faster if I dropped the dairy.

10der congrats on the weight loss!

FindingMyWay- At least you know the number now. And it will be so much fun to see that number go down!

You are most welcome, Marsh! Why are you forcing water?

I used to think cheese and nuts made me stall until I doubled checked my Food Log and come to find out, it wasn't the cheese or nuts! It was me and my portion control issues. So I no longer do either, but it's all good, I don't miss them at all.

I hate when that happens!!! I use an old antiquated scale I've used for decades -- ole reliable I call it, it weighs me 3 lbs more than at my doctor's office! That's why I haven't switched over to those new higher technology ones that even give you a decimal point...

Here's my solution to your dilemma: weigh yourself on the old scale and on the new scale, subtract the difference every time you use the new scale or have you not weighed yourself in a while hence the need for a new scale?

Morning All....
Checking in! Weighed in this morning....down a pound (that's 3 pounds this week).
I am on track to be down a dress size by Labor Day.
Everyone is doing great! Even those who had some carbey snacks....It's all good...You ate it, it's done, move on. There will be days like that (hopefully not consecutively...)...but it happens.
Watching my DS play soccer...running to the farm store to get more Zucchini squash, to make a zucchini pizza crust for a LC pizza tonight...and getting chores done around the house. It's a beautiful day...I wish everyone a wonderful LC day!

Well, yesterday I did feel super dehydrated. My water intake is No. 1 to me but normally it takes me all day to get it in. The last 2 days, tho, I just got it in so early that it was remarkable.

Yeah, I don't think nuts stall me but people SWEAR they do. Perhaps cheese won't stall me either but we'll see.

Happy Saturday !! I'm off to a Toastmaster training. I'll be glad that I've gone after I get there but right now, I would like to be relaxing and enjoying the sunshine.

JustJo ~ Yes, a gratitude journal is exactly as it sounds. Post every night a few of the good things that happened that day. Generally it really helps me sleep and stay focused. Thinking about finding time to journal in the morning as well.

Denise on the pounds gone and zucchini pizza crust sounds interesting, did you find the recipe on here.

MadMarsha ~ Good luck with the no cheese and on being so close to goal.

FindingMyWay ~ Awesome about the jean, try not to worry about the number on the scale.
