Deb, glad you and Ken have finally gotten the news you have been waiting for!

Today was a rough day, spent a lot of today crying at work (well today and last few days) spoke to my neurologist about all the side effects I've been experiencing since he increased the anti seizure meds and he disagrees about trying to find a balance with the medication he wants me to take a medical leave of absense from work to help reduce stress. After I disagreed he scheduled an appointment to see me this week instead of next. After I got off the phone I proceeded to lose it for the next hour, luckily no one was in the office, but did cry/sob in front of three of my friends at work. I'm pretty sure they think I'm losing it, but not sleeping is really having a huge factor on my psyche as are these meds. I can't afford to take time off from work and can't afford disabilbity I'm living paycheck to paycheck as it is. The notion of taking time off of work to reduce my stress feels like it's doing the exact opposite.

Kathy, I hate to say this, but it seems as if you are in denial that you have a serious problem that needs serious attention. Somehow someway, you will be able to manage with an LOA. I can't believe your office mgr would let you return to work without an ok from your doc. Will be praying for you.

Kath~

Just an idea.... do you have room in your home for a room mate? Would help you with living costs and also have someone there in case you need help. I know it is not the perfect answer but it could be doable, and in the end, a good thing. Do you have disability insurance through work?

I am keeping good thoughts for you.

Mary, that's ok.. I' m not sure if it's denial or being stuborn or controlling. He gave me permission to go back to work after the 2nd seizure last week. It was only after I called him today explaining all the side effects from the meds that he told me he wanted me to take a leave of absence. He refused to adjust the meds. I advocate for my clients with doctors all the time and never have any issues with getting meds adjusted for them and for myself I can't. I just was expecting him to tweak the meds a little so I could sleep, stop crying, think clearly and wouldn't feel so drunk and dizzy all the time. I freely admit I hate feeling out of control and I really feel out of control right now. I really am taking my health seriously and doing everything I'm supposed to do, but my job is so much more to me than I job, it is my lifeline . I love my job, I thrive at it, it is what gets me going everyday.

Kathy, I understand. That is how I feel about my job. I can't wait to return. It has been for months for me. I am doing everything I can to prove I am ready.

Kathy - is there any chance you could find another doctor? At least to get a second opinion on the meds? I do know some doctors can be stubborn. Maybe a new one would be more understanding, but if he agreed with the first one maybe it would help you to accept it. Do you have vacation and/or sick time? You could possibly take a leave of absence and still get paid using that time. Or as another said, disability insurance at work. It usually only pays around 70% of your salary though.

I understand what you mean when you say your job defines you. But you must remember there will be no YOU to define if you don't take care of yourself. Ask your doctor about filing for SSI disability if your case is severe enough. You can always find a new passion instead of your job - like volunteering when you are up to it. It was very hard when my husband had to quit work due to a disability, but he is now able to volunteer his time when he is able to and there is no more stress for him.

Can anyone share with me when they noticed their clothing sizes going down? Do you go down a size with every 10 or 20 pound loss?

Right now I'm in pants sized 28W. At the thrift store yesterday I bought a very nice pair of size 14 skinny jeans. I have them hanging in my craft room where I hang out most of the day, so I'm using them as an inspiration to stay on plan. I'd like to set a goal for myself on being able to wear them, but I'm not sure how to make a realistic one.

How tall are you?

I was size 14 when I was around 175-180 and I am 5'7". But everyone is built differently.

Hello everyone!
I have been on plan since last weekend....and doing ok so far (this ain't my first LC rodeo! LOL). I have never been this heavy in my life....and I have been feeling its effects. I know if I don't lose this weight....I'm not long for this world. I have a wonderful DH...and a fantastic 8 year old DS. I've lost hundreds of pounds over the years....LC....WW...etc. I realize that LC is for me....a week, and I am feeling better already (after the fog and migraines left).
I sure look forward to getting to know everyone....
Happy 4th of July !!!

Good morning all! I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend!
I hope you are feeling better Oncloud9now2....stomach bugs are awful!
I am down a pound (yay!)....I snuck a weigh in (trying not to weigh myself too often....that is where I have a problem....when I stop losing....I get depressed and give up. I am middle aged....and should expect slow or lagged losses....But it still is depressing...when I have been focused and on plan. So I am going to try waiting a little longer in between weigh ins.
It's going to be a beautiful day today! The garden is really loving this weather....we will be harvesting lettuce today...and beans soon. Planted onions and Brussels sprouts yesterday (in the place where the carrots and a few corn plants didn't come up)...Hoping to harvest these sometime into the Fall.
Have a blessed day y'all!!

Thanks sher! Yep, still not feeling great today. I started at 321 May 27, 2013. Over a year now. I am not losing quickly either. Have health problems plus am 59 years old. I have been a bit discouraged the last few months. I'm happy for the weight I've lost but need to get more focused to get going back down the scale. At least I haven't done what I've done in the past and given up and gained it all back!!

Good for you!!! What a fantastic attitude!
I'm going to try to maintain that same attitude. I sabotage myself...get discouraged...give up. I need to get this weight off...I am miserable....can't move around like a should...etc etc. I have a beautiful DS who is active...and wants to do things with DH and myself.... I WILL do this!!
I was out this morning....getting a little exercise...chasing chickens! LOL
I had 6 of our Cornish X birds escape their fenced yard...and some of my young layers wandered into the dog kennel yard. DS and I had to play border collie, trying to herd them back into their yards. Quite the sight to see, I can assure you!!
Hope everyone is enjoying their day!

We have had chickens in the past. My nephew has an organic farm and has chickens for eggs for our family to eat and to sell to try to help pay for their food! Lol. He works as airline financial solutions but wants to retire early, build a house on his farm and work on it full time.

That's what I do....I sell the excess eggs to help pay for their feed. This time of year, they are enjoying the bugs and greens that they get while free ranging around....so they don't eat quite as much as they do during the cold weather months.
There is nothing more relaxing than sitting and watching the chickens in the yard. This is our first year raising Cornish X chickens....I just can't afford buying pasture chickens locally any more....so we decided to give it a try.
Next year....hoping to get a couple of goats. Slowly adding to the homestead each year....and lovin' it!
