happy anniversary Lucky! Sorry I am late! Internet out again all night and just now back in. I hope you did have a good day! On iPad so can't seem to post pics

Mary ken is on antidepressants anti seizure and all kinds of other meds. He has to take about twenty in the morning and the same in the evening. Can not look at a computer screen. It triggers a bad bad episode. So IDK poor guy I feel so sorry for him

vA help is not all it is cracked up to be. The last mental health guy before dr presentation was very very bad. This new one seems to be a bit better though

Deb, what did Ken do before he got sick? Does he like to write? Maybe he could journal some of the stuff. They say sometimes folks become gifted in an area they knew nothing about before they got sick. It happens with concussions. I don't know yet what my new gift might be.

DH and I just got home from a dirt track race. We haven't been in years. He spent his early years racing everything that had wheels and his whole family was and what's left still are into racing! He really enjoyed it. I did too because he did!

Yeah, just keeping things dark and quiet here so light and noise don't bother me so much. Got earplugs so that's helping a little. Not looking forward to a full noisy day at work tomorrow, but am off on Tuesday to get EEG so that will be a quiet day.

Hey Cloud!!! Congrats on the lost steroid weight. 3lbs can make a big difference on how you feel.

I am doing ok. I gained a lot of water weight and am now doing an egg fast to get it back off.

I do mine with straight eggs and meat. Nothing else. I am only doing 24hrs, just to get rid of some of the water.

Oncloud I've used steroids for my asthma before. I feel ya! Congrats on weight loss!!!

Kath hope you're having a good day.

Mary how were your appts? Did you watch the Ted Talk I recommended yet? I'm curious to see if you liked it?

Bec I've never done an egg fast. Can you tell me more ?

Where is everyone?

I'm checking in...hubby still recovering from surgery. Still on my plan. Setting some walking goals for myself. I'm determined to speed my weight loss even just a little! Spirits good this week. Had a good Father's Day with my family. Made low carb ribs, cauliflower mash, and salad. Not ready for summer heat. But it's Texas so it's here

Curious, anyone see 7-11 sugar free slurpees advertised??

TulipQueen, I did watch the Ted Talks with Jan McD and enjoyed it. Want to go back and watch it again to take some notes.

It was a busy day. Had an appt with DH and his DR at 7:20 am, he had a med changed so we picked up the new RX and then went for a walk in the park. After lunch, I had a counseling appt, then the PT, the speech therapist, and the OT.

My DD is coming tonight to take me to the neurologist tomorrow and my homework is to work on a budget for Thursday appt with the Occupational Therapist. Does anyone have any pointers on doing a family or household budget that they use that works for them? I haven't used a budget is years but my pay is being cut by 40% this month because of short term disability. If we ever had to live without our jobs, we would have to sell our house, and move into an appt, I think. We would definitely have to downsize. So I am throwing stuff out and donating to Salvation Army, little by little. It would help if DH cooperated and chipped in.

Tulip
Everyone does it differently. What I do is: eat eggs with every meal and have side of meat. For instance eggs and bacon for brekfast, boiled egg with canadian bacon for lunch, scrambled eggs and sausage for supper. That's it.

There are a lot of variations out there. I do it to get rid of water weight.

MaryMary,
What works for me is this. I get a legal pad and write down my paycheck and money in bank in one column on the left side of the paper. On the right side of the column I write down my bills and expenditures for the month. I subtract right column from the left column and see what I have left.

I don't use a debit card unless I can help it. Using straight cash helps me keep track of my spending.

I think the people in my life are conspiring against me...

Gracious MaryMary, you did have a busy day!! I tried the envelope method once. I actually used a small accordion folder and wrote expenses on tabs. It really helped when we were working hard to pay off our house. When there's no more money in the section you can't spend any more in that area!

Tulip- I'm going to weigh in the morning and hope the water weight is gone. You're doing great by sticking with the program when you have a lot to deal with. Speedy recovery to your DH!!

BecBelle- Do you eat egg snacks?

Glad to see you back in here Trotter!

Trotter- You can do it!! Try to concentrate on yourself!! It's hard sometimes when we're conditioned to think of others first. Just know that by taking care of yourself, you are taking care of your family. They need you to be around for them!! Prayers for you!!

Ken's appointment with the neuro UGh they basically said NADA they can do to help"VA won't pay for surgery" was a direct quote IDK what kind of surgery that could help this?? but dang if it would help! they are weaning him off topomax and started him on depokote and EEK liver damage is a side effect from it
they did not schedule him another appointment ken says they basically cut him loose! UGH i don't know what else to do

the VA is supposed to evaluate him for an increase in his PTSD rating BUT we get a call that it is going to be with a civilian doctor not the VA ratings people responsible for compensation and pensions exams . worries me to death that he will get denied an increase or worse given a DECREASE! every time we have been to a civilian doctor they just plain do not understand someone that has been in the military

hot soo hot and miserable can't breathe outside heavy and oppressive air and the first day of summer isn't until this weekend

dave ramsey's babysteps are a great way to start. sigh i don't have anything to put in the envelopes LOL, and our emergency fund is long gone
working on these 2

Quote:
Baby Step 1
$1,000 to start an Emergency Fund
An emergency fund is for those unexpected events in life that you can’t plan for: the loss of a job, an unexpected pregnancy, a faulty car transmission, and the list goes on and on. It’s not a matter of if these events will happen; it’s simply a matter of when they will happen.

Baby Step 2
Baby Step 2
Pay off all debt using the Debt Snowball
List your debts, excluding the house, in order. The smallest balance should be your number one priority. Don’t worry about interest rates unless two debts have similar payoffs. If that’s the case, then list the higher interest rate debt first.
thank goodness our house is paid for but we don't have any insurance on it so if a fire or something happened we would be in bad bad shape and right now all we have coming in is Kens VA disability his rating right now is 70%. still can't believe about the caregiver program and on pins and needles waiting for the 10th of July to see if we really will get a paycheck. maybe then we can take the smallest debt and pay it off etc
hang in there
