Keto I totally didn't know that about the below parallel knee deal. I have weak knees & I had heard the opposite & always had tried going as close to parallel as possible but Omg I quit even trying that exercise bc I could hardly get back up!!!
I just got up and tried it... managed it 3 times! LOL but wow my knees were noisy/popping... I'm getting old quick having all this weight on me! And honestly even standing for more than 2-3 hours like shopping etc.. just bearable...
so...Thanks for the water tip too. I try to drink it and unsweetened tea... still addicted to diet pop... ugh

Terri!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! OR HAPPY BELATED! ; if the case may be. Hope you have/had a nice one!

Speaking of cooking meals and such would anybody care to share what their most favorite low carb food is or have any tips for easy meals?

Since I am LC/HF right now my favorite is bacon/sausage and eggs So quick & easy too.

I'm still learning bout carb counts... I am almost a pro at cal. counts from being on a diet since I was 12! Seriously! I was the only one in the pre-teen 'group' at TOPS. What's funny is I had a book one time when I was in high school.. i think it was called the Tcell maybe T factor diet... it was similar to low carb & i was loving eating hot dogs and yummy cheese... but a friend and my health teacher said that was SUCH a bad idea. HA! I knew I was right! They were all about "balance" & exercise in the 80's lol well guess low carb still isn't sitting well with at least half the medical community so far from the impression I get.

Anyway... all I can say is after a month more or less.... my ankles aren't swelling anymore! I have more energy, I have reduced my blood pressure (water pill) by half already, I'm hardly ever hungry & tummy growls are rare, blood sugar levels are now close to normal & I AM LOSING WEIGHT! I am a believer and most likely will be able to live this lifestyle forever. I think I would stay lc even if it didn't effect my weight!

GOOD WEEKEND ALL!

Thanks Blondie! I've actually always had an interest in how the body works, and exercise/weightlifting -- it's just I didn't always follow "what I should be doing" food and exercise-wise, lol! I do feel amazing, but come on girl, you lost that weight before, you KNOW you can do it again! The only thing I've done is just stay committed to what I'm doing, and I've been at it for 51 continuous weeks now! You can do the same! I get it though, it is sort of a big deal, I think I'm just "downplaying" it because I know I'm not DONE and where I "want to be" at yet..

Keto, Thanks for the tutorial on squats. I know "below parallel" is the goal. That's what they do in the cross fit classes. However they do them usually holding a ridiculous amount of weight on a barbell over their heads! I squat lower than I've been able to in a long while, however, I have yet to go "below parallel". I think it's mostly fear that keeps me from trying. Fear of permanent injury, fear of not being able to get back up and having to roll on the floor to "bail". Maybe soon! I'm gonna re-read your post later and give it a try!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TERRI!!!!

Friday is my Monday, ugh, lol! (my work week starts Friday night) -- Curious to know if you tried the box squats using some stairs in your house! If you do them there, you can always use the railing/banister or whatever to help you get "started" if you get stuck! Honestly though, just rock forward a bit and then just stand up!

Anna, did you try them like box squats using stairs? Which step did you sit back and down onto, the first step or second step? Yeah, I hear you though, my knees make the noisy/popping sounds too, lol!

Well, real late, real tired, have a great day all!

Keto- I haven't tried the stair ones... I just did it from standing then down past parallel.... but couldn't do it with out being on my tippy toes when I was squatted.

Hey Amylynn. I'm rooting for u to get out of the 4 day holding pattern and go down!

Bronwyn, I'm cheering you on to that last pound. Come on - let it go! Anna and Amylynn I hope you get a little whoosh soon, and Blondie you are doing great! I'm sure if you are in ketosis you are burning through the fat.

Onward and downward,

Look at you, rl2b!!! So excited for you!

Thank you, Blondie! Yes indeed, going downward on the scale like you have is a good indication that you're on your way!

Let's see what we can do in two more days!

Hey Roseanne
thanks for the WHOOSH WISH!
I need it bad!!!

We will see... I mowed my grass and weed whacked A LOT was sweating like crazy... 12 carbs today too. I am hungry... but going to bed hungry every once and a while seems like it mixes stuff up or something and helps get me going again. I'm glad it will soon be a new month.

Hey Blondie thank you! You are too kind! That pic is what I call my hillbilly glamour selfie...(I poke fun about hillbillies bc I am one) LOL But, right back at ya on your picture! I would so love to have that bouncy/sexy/healthy hair you got going in your pic. Did u use curlers on the ends? Did you need hairspray to give it that vaavoom? Right now my hair is fried bc of trying a perm on my over processed hay stack. So that will be the last perm for me! I choose blonde over curly.

2 pound jump up today! Here's what I wrote in my daily update about it:

Quote:

If you recall, I had taken the previous week+ off from weightlifting, and only got back in the gym on Thursday. I consider this the normal fluid retention from working out and pushing my muscles again. It should level off and get back to normal over the course of the next few days, but also realize that my “lows” the past few days were because I hadn’t been working out! Yes I ate “extra” food in the pecans/protein shake yesterday, but that is NOT enough to account for 2 pounds difference!!! 2 pounds is roughly an extra 7,000+ calories — I did NOT eat an EXTRA 7,000+ calories yesterday, so my body did not magically lay down 2 pounds of fat overnight! It’s fluid retention, and will work itself out! Remember, weight loss is NEVER just a straight line downwards! It’s highs and lows that form an overall downward trend over the course of a 7 to 14 day period! OK, I’m off to go get ready for the gym!
Anna -- I believe your heels raising is calf tightness. The way to combat that would be to stretch out your calves, and if you are going to do more squats, put something under the FRONT of your foot (where your toes are) to elevate them and force your heels to be down, and practice squatting down that way.

Also, try the box squats using a low stair, they're great!

Bronwyn -- I'm cheering for you also! You've been right at that mark and ALMOST there! Get it!

Good Morning To All,

I am back finally. I just moved to Indiana so I couldn't post or weigh in. I am sorry to say I could not weigh myself this morning. I was tooooo afraid. I went off my plan about two or so weeks ago and I know I gained quite a bit. I also never lost my vacation weight. In total I had lost 50 pounds, now tomorrow I promise myself to weigh in and see what damage I have caused. I have no excuses for it, I was lazy, it was too easy to eat bad food. Now I am back to normal so here I go, day one!
So many of you are doing fantastic
to all the new friends! I must catch up on all the posts now. I have really missed it here. This keeps me in check. Have a great Sunday!

Amylynn - five days in a row - how annoying I am sure. You are weigh over due for a great loss! Bronwyn - OMG! So close . . . so far . . . so close - you are going to do it though. I believe it! Anna - a good sweat - I always tell myself that is fat crying. Let it cry itself right out of me and you.

Happy belated Birthday Terri !

Sammi - Glad your move is over, hope it all went well..

Bronwyn - the “up, down, same, same, up, down” syndrome I call it.. you can still do it !!

Welcome The Belly and rl2b !

Anna - one of my favorite recipes I call Egg Muffins… butter 12 muffin cups, and put 2-4 tablespoons of grated cheese, cooked bacon or sausage in each one. Beat 8 extra large OR 10 large eggs and pour 1/4 cup in each muffin cup. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Let cool in pan for 5 minutes then place on wire racks to cool. We just heat them up in the microwave, DH takes them to work for lunch with a salad. Good for snacks, too.

Have a great day all ... Time to do laundry ... how can 2 people generate 4 loads in one weekend away ?? LOL

I was totally shocked this morning to see another good loss but I am not complaining by any means! Amylynn - congrats to you for getting the scale moving again and for not giving up! Joanne - those egg muffins sound delicious to me and so handy to have around. Yum! I think I should have those around just for the ease of being able to just heat and eat.

Sorry so late checking in! We had internet issues here at work this morning and finally got back on line!

Everyone seems to be doing great! HAIL to the short work week for most!
