Woo Hoo !!! Its Friday

Another day of training!! No meetings or events this weekend. Plan is to relax, read, write in my journal, go for a walk, hopefully enjoy the sunshine. So cold today, there is ice on the deck. Yikes.

Eating, drinking and walking yesterday was only so so - today will be better

Mary ~ that is so awesome that you are planning on attending your 50th Year reunion.

Bronwyn ~ Hope you had a good sleep. I would trade some of our cold and rain for some heat and humidity.

Way to go oncloud

JustJo ~ You are such an inspiration. Thanks.

I would trade the cold for some heat too. We are still running the heat in our house.

Wow, so strange how we are all dealing with different temps. I resisted turning the AC on until about 15 minutes ago. Couldn't stand it any longer! Trying to keep my electric bill down.

It turned hot and humid hereabouts too.
I haven't turned on the air, but it has been tempting.

We can still use evaporative coolers here cause it's so dry -- cheaper to run then AC. Not that people don't have AC, it's just that I'm very frugal and "swamp" coolers cost about 1/3 what AC costs to run.

We only use it during the day. 2 Weeks ago, it was upper 60s here in southern NM, this week we are at almost 100 degrees every day but it cools down to about 45-50 at night.... Our humidity is rarely above 10%... talk about DRY HEAT!

I almost put the heat on the other day, but opted for an extra sweatshirt

Should be an interesting weekend, we are going to rent a table at a local flea market Sunday. Looking to to make a few bucks and get rid of some stuff that's been sitting stored in bins in our basement since we moved in 10 years ago! Neither one of us is overly fond of the "back and forth" bartering that goes along with flea marketing, hopefully we'll do OK

Enjoy the weekend everyone !

They put moisture into the air. They have these pads that are soaked with water and a fan draws the air thru the pads and into the house. When it's over 100 -115 degrees I can still get my house down to 72 degrees. But the humidity has be under 30% or they don't work at all...

Have fun at your flea market adventure. I've never done one -- don't have the patience to wait around while ppl man-handle my stuff... I always donate stuff to a charity thrift store because my time is worth more than the tiny amount my junk is worth!

Joanne- Have fun at the flea market! Just price everything a teeny bit higher than you really want and go down for your customers. They want to feel like they got a good deal! LOL. Remember, you don't want the stuff anyway so have fun with it and take what they'll give!

Well, we don't have any water sources around us and our average rain fall is 5 inches a year -- but we do have a phenomenal beach called White Sands National Monument -- looks like snow. Even at above 100 degree temps you can walk barefoot on the sand because it's not really sand its gypsum and cool on the feet. Here's a picture of White Sands:

Oh how beautiful!! I love the beach! We always go to Florida several times a year. First trip this year is 3rd week of August. Taking our children and their spouses. Only taking them so we get to take our precious grandson!! Lol. JK
Our other trips are in September when it's cooler!!

I was just reading a story about charities that take donations like clothes, furniture and books. You know Good Will and Salvation Army. Well the CEO of Good Will gets pad $1.2 Mill and his workers gets min wage. Salvation Army 100% of the donations go to help the poor and the CEO gets paid nothing as it is truly a non profit organization. Next time I am opting for Salvation Army.

I heard that MaryMary -- we don't have a Good Will any more in our little burg. But we have a charity thrift store that all proceeds go to charity -- no one gets paid. It's ran by the Lions, awesome group of people.

Have heard that as well .. we do donate to Salvation Army throughout the year. I also like how they give folks job training by working in their thrift stores, and numerous other ways they help in the community

Just Jo - this is actually 99% DH's stuff, so I don't really mind if it's manhandled lol. He's collected a boatload of Nascar stuff over the years, and we had hoped by now we could have finished off the basement and given him a real Man Cave so he could display it. It's been in storage for 10 years. So recently he decided to go thru it all, and pared it down to the stuff he really wanted to keep.

Cloud - yup, that's what we're going to try to do, just don't know how good I'll be at it .. I am going to try and channel the guys from Pawn Stars

I might start giving to Salvation army instead of Goodwill.
Another option is FreeCycle, although sometimes I balk at the time it takes to meet up and exchange. Sad but true.

My DIL is very active in the local Freecycle here .. her biggest complaint and most surprising is how many people don't show up AND never let you know. Super frustrating for her as she has a 3 yo and a 1 yo to cart around with her when she goes to meet up with people.

I think it is a great idea, keeps stuff in the community rather than in the huge dumpster bins at Goodwill. I usually opt to deliver the goods rather than pickup, usually in a public spot, partly because my house is hard to find and treacherous in the winter. I really haven't any problem with no-shows though.

Ok my next load of too small clothes goes to Salvation Army!

I might get rid of my winter clothes on freecyle . . . I have no idea what places like goodwill do with sweaters and coats and lined jeans in the sweltering months of summer.

1 June 2014

Wow it's already June 1st.

My update on 4th July Challenge: No changes... so I think I've hit maintenance with a vengeance. In 18 days, I have not lost a lb and better yet, I haven't gained any either!

Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday and wishing each of you continued success on your LC WOE journeys!!

After dinner I got into the food a bit and overate on greek yogurt and Ezekiel muffins with soynut butter. What was I thinking? This morning I finished off the greek yogurt and had another greek yogurt. There is no flavor to them for me. In my accident, I lost my sense of smell and can only taste salty, lemony and sweet. Everything else is pretty bland.

I am so disappointed in Good Will. It'll be Salvation Army for me from now on!

I'm going to find out if we have a Free cycle.

cindym I haven't been here for a few days, but thank you for asking about my sleep!

Down another pound for a total of 14 lost in May! I don't expect this pace to continue but still have 76 lbs to lose.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Huge on your total May losses of 14 pounds! Wow that's 0.45lbs per day -- that's amazing!!! Before you know it, Bronwyn, you'll be in maintenance and all this will be "tail lights" in your LC WOE journey!

Thank you, just Jo. I joined the daily weigh group in the Century Club to make myself aware of what I'm eating every day and how much. Hopefully it will not heighten my anxiety of eating, which you were kind enough to address in a previous post.

Thanks for giving me this idea Bronwyn, I just did too ... I am obviously NOT as aware as I should be, gained 4 pounds this week by not paying enough attention to what and how much I'm eating. Need to get back to planning out the days food and tracking everything. When I get lax, it's so easy to overdue it. Sigh.

On a positive note, we made a little over $200 at the flea market, and got rid of just about everything thanks to a vendor who bought a bunch of it for his second hand store.

Oh I addressed your heighten anxiety of eating? (Searching all the posts in this thread...give me a moment...) Eureka! I found it.

I know in A '72 we eat when we are hungry -- which makes it really amazing when you are on any type of WOE plan -- sure beats WW. But I'm probably eating less kcals then I would if I were doing WW. I guess it's the idea that if I want to pig-out on pork rinds, I can because they have ZERO carbs - since carbs count on a LC WOE lifestyle. So for me, it's a head game I am playing with myself. Does that make any sense?

So far my 4th of July Challenge is proceeding nicely. Today is day 19 w/o a gain or a loss. So I am pretty ecstatic about that!

JustJo- So happy for you! Keep up the good work and attitude!

Bron- Way to go on the weight loss!!

I am at 250. I've been up and down 2lbs. I am being very 'good' lately. Hoping to reach my goal. 240 by July 4th. I am determined to not snack at night! Still sticking to it. Yay!
