Just Jo- Great Job on your weight loss! We are all going to have to figure out how to live this WOE and I look forward to your insight. I'm hoping that once in awhile I would be able to have a slice of pie or some pasta once I'm at goal. But it's a long way off for me to even think of it at this point.

Mary- Hope you feel better soon. Sometimes we just need a good cry.

Had a fun Saturday picnicking with friends and stayed on plan until someone came with freshly cooked egg rolls. I broke down and had 1-feeling smug because DH had 2! HA! We decided to leave when they brought out the mousse cake, cupcakes, and 5 different types of ice cream! So we didn't feel too deprived, we stopped off at the store and picked up some carb smart ice cream.

Thanks for the warm welcome, everybody!

I have no delusions of ever eating crappy carbs again -- that's why I've been chronically morbidly obese my entire life. I'm a recovering carb addict and I have portion control issues. I can't say STOP. I've yo-yo dieted so much throughout my life that you'd think I'd have hung myself with all the string...

Today is the beginning of week 46 of my 100% commitment to following this WOL and I have not had a craving for any of those toxic, poisonous, insidious, killer carbs in all that time. I call them killers because they kill the best parts of me: my health, happiness and self-esteem.

Wow, where'd that come from?

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Wishing all of us continued success on our personal LC WOE journeys!!

Good job Cloud, one day at a time. We are not going to throw you under the bus. You know how to do this, you have done it, you don't need advice. Only you can get your mind straight but you CAN do it.

I'm a school teacher and I teach 3 guitar classes (plus Technology/Computer Science. Family & Consumer Sciences -- Home Ec for ppl of my generation). That's an annual performance we do to show off the kids to the community and parents. I played in a rock band for 10 years when I was younger -- much younger.

I probably have the best job in my school district since I get to teach all of my hobbies and they pay me for it!!

You are rockin' this, cloud. It's one day at a time for all of us... sometimes it's just getting over the next hour or the next twenty minutes, if you know what I mean. Each successful minute, hour or day is one minute, hour and day closer to reaching your personal goal!!

I'm glad we can join during any stage of this challenge... as I just found this thread.

So far I have lost 40 pounds since I started this WOE on 01/12/14. My weight loss is starting to slow a bit, so even though I averaged 10 lbs. per month... it probably won't continue at that pace. But I will be happy with whatever it is - as long as I am losing.

My goal is by July 4th to weigh 338. That's only 10 more pounds... but as I said, it has slowed!

I'm at the point in this lifestyle chane of eating that I'm nervous about eating. Down another 1.5 lbs and not much appetite. When I do eat, my stomach gets in knots for fear of messing up, though I'm tracking carbs and calories. Anyone else ever felt this why, like I'm afraid to eat?

soonergal and huge on your losses, WTG!!! I personally don't think it's unrealistic to expect a 10 pound loss a month. That's always been my monthly goal and I'd usually reach or exceed it following my LC WOE. I'm over here cheering you onward!!

I've been there, done that, Bronwyn. I also track kcals and carbs - the kcals because I have portion control issues and if I don't I'm out of control.

My biggest fear (and it sounds paranoid and I know it ) is eating out. I won't eat out because I don't trust people to prepare my food unless I watch them prepare it. I know, it sounds insane but "they" put all sorts of ingredients in foods that we LCers know should be no carb.

There's a thread on here where the guy says they put pancake batter in their scrambled eggs at IHOP to make them fluffier. Have you heard of such a thing? He couldn't understand the carb count on the eggs, so he googled it. Did you know that Outback Steak House puts sugar in their green beans to make them tastier?

See there are reasons for my paranoia about eating out!! It's one thing when you purposefully eat carbs but to be blindsided by them and wonder why you get cravings, or get stalled and even worse, gain. That's inexcusable in the food service industry and they need to be more transparent!!

Okay, I'll get off my soap box...

Welcome Soonergal... Goodluck on your journey

JustJo, I knew about Ihop but not about Outback and the greenbeans. What a shame! I do ask if there is sugar in each dish before ordering at most places but I don't eat out very often either.

Good Morning ~ Enjoyed relaxing and staying on plan - Monday and Tuesday was crazy busy but again on plan

Love how busy the thread is getting.

Very interesting and kind of scary about restaurants.

Well it's my Wednesday weigh day and... 3lbs down!
I've been on a pretty good run lately-6lbs. in 2 weeks now. Hope it keeps up.

I had a "mini victory" today at the grocery store. I found some LC tortillas that were only 6 carbs for a large tortilla. I was tempted to buy them but I didn't when I remembered how the last time I ate them I felt horrible.
I'm enjoying how I feel now-no more bloat, belching, or foggy brain.

8 days with no weight loss or gain -- I hope that means I found my "sweet spot"! That would be a terrific way to start Summer Break and accomplish my 4th of July Challenge!!

MaryMary -- I wonder what other restaurant food products that we know should be no-carb aren't?? Thank goodness for Google and smartphones!!

Cindy -- Good job, Cindy, staying on plan can be difficult when things get busy and stressful. Especially if one tends to be an emotional eater. Me, I could eat anytime... stress, no stress... that's what got me into this mess...

Jolynn -- HUGE Jo on your 3lbs!! You are rockin' this WOE!!

Ketomama!! I think 10 lbs in 43 days is quite do-able if you follow your WOE plan. I know on A '72 I could almost bank on losing 10 lbs a month. I'm over here cheering you on!!

Happy Thursday - yesterday worked out okay (considering that my assistant gave her notice in the middle of our busiest couple of months - I did not eat) but today I can do better Best thing about today is I have NO meetings tonight. Last night I wasn't home until 10pm - makes for a LONG day.

And the sun is shinning

I have to give a shout out to my DH and DD who are also doing Atkins.
Today they were working a booth at a local festival with all sorts of food vendors-chinese, bbq, fries, kettle corn... you get the picture. And being that my husband is part of a local business club, he knew many other vendors who were constantly trying to give him all that tempting junk! Instead he called me at work and asked me to bring them some food! At first I was a bit put out by having to "change gears" and go home to make something for them to eat. But then I thought "WOW-that is dedication!" It would have been so easy to just graze all day.
So After a second of attitude adjustment-Lol- I happily went home and made them the yummiest salads with chicken, egg, salami, bacon, cheese, and broccoli. I even packed them some strawberries for dessert.
Feeling blessed to have such dedicated support at home in this WL journey.

Okay the progress on my 4th of July Challenge... today is day 9 and I haven't lost a lb. So far so good, looks like 1200-1400 kcals and btwn 10-12 carbs daily is my "sweet spot"!

Yesterday was my cheat day. I thought it would be enjoyable, but it wasn't. The food was unappealing and not worth the indigestion! Back on healthy eating today. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

You can do this if you really want it. Anything is Possible!! Actually, I've lost 142, at end of May last year I weighed 265 -- played the yo-yo game again (do great 4-5 days then reward myself for a job well done...etc) until 5 July (250#) when I had had enough and said to myself I have got to do this for REAL... I was sick and tired of being morbidly obese. Don't know what "clicked" but something did...

At the beginning, on some days, it was a one minute, one hour, one day of successfulyl following this LC WOE thing ... eventually, it became/becomes routine and food doesn't mean the same thing to me. Actually it makes me kinda gag to think about eating carbs...

Soonergal, you'll see results if you religiously (without cheats) follow your LC WOE. I had one cheat fest this entire time -- I planned it, how stupid?? I call it the "Thanksgiving Fiasco of 2013". Gave myself permission to pig out for 3 days, gained 9 lbs and took me 6 days to lose those... lesson LEARNED!

I'm over here cheering you onward and downward!!!!

I am guessing you have learned a lot given your impressive results!

I am thirsty today. I think it's good because it reminds me to drink my water and isn't the chore it seems to be some days.
Words of wisdom? I have a motto I live by I call "SEAL" It's posted on my frig:

Stay Committed 100%
Eat properly & Exercise daily
Accept the things I cannot control & change the things I can.
Live my life to be Successful in this WOE.

I also keep a very accurate Food Log (I weigh and measure EVERYTHING) and a journal where I write down my thoughts and feelings.

You can ask me anything, and I'll answer any questions you have about how I got from 265 to 123lbs. I know if I can do this, anyone can! I see it as my personal responsibility to share what I've learned on my journey so far to help others be successful too!

Wishing all of us continued success on our personal LC WOE journeys!!

Can I ask a personal question, Bronwyn? Was it a planned cheat day or something that just happened accidentally?
