Dumb question JJ. Pour 'hot' coffee in the almond milk? Just making sure.

Took my last steroid pill yesterday and was down 3 of my gained pounds this morning!! Yay!! Been really pushing water.252.

Mmmm, I bet this would be good in iced coffee .. I'm kinda weird, I like my hot coffee black, but always needed extra cream and sugar in my iced.

I mix up the "milk" and SF syrup together in a measuring cup and then pour that into my cup of hot coffee.

I can drink my hot coffee black with a splash of sweetener but you're so right Jo, the LC foo foo coffee is AWESOME iced. Coffee tends to be more bitter when it's cold, at least it is to me.

I found some pumpkin flavored SF coffee syrup whilst I was visiting my dd in Phnx. Can't wait for the holidays to get more and have holiday special foo foo coffees!!

Happy Monday ~ Well, had a HUGE fight with DH and didn't go away this weekend.

Still feeling incredibly sad and haven't come to any sort of concrete solution.

The good news .... I didn't bury my feelings in food.

Thread has been busy which is so awesome

JustJo ~ Funny to be upset because you have lost weight. I look forward to that day and wow, pumpkin sugar free syrup would be awesome.

Oncloud ~ Awesome you are feeling better and that the pounds are coming back off. I had heard that steroids pack on the pounds.

JoanneO ~ Almond milk is so yummy, I didn't realize that it was low carb, I usually avoid it when on plan. I'll look closer.

Bronwyn

Mary ~ hope everything works out with new dog.

Patience ~ 15 pounds is so close

If I have missed anyone, please know that it isn't personal.

Thanks JJ! Got my almond milk today so will try it in the morning.

Cindy- So sorry about you and DH! I know how it feels. Must be something in the air! DH and I have always had such a peaceful life and it seems to get more rocky the older we get. Been married 20 years and more arguments the last 2 than in the first 18 combined.

I love almond milk! It has been a life saver when I need a treat. I use it when mixing up smoothies. 1 C. Vanilla unsweetened almond milk, 4-5 strawberries (sometimes some blueberries or a combo), some SF vanilla davinci and ice! Blend in blender.
I also use it with the Big Train Mocha mix.
These "treats" help me not feel deprived.

I didn't even think to look at something called almond milk with my carb glasses on, you know what I mean? I know that almonds are pretty high in carbs at least to me they are (1 oz = approx. 22 kennels = 6 carbs) cause of my portion control issues... So I avoided it like the plague assuming that it would be high in carbs as well. Then Bonny-jean (an LCF poster) mentioned it one day and it's changed my WOE...

I know Cindy, sound insane coming out of my own mouth... but I've gotta stop losing weight. The BF is afraid I may develop an eating disorder... and I've replaced eating with copious amounts of exercising especially since I am off for the summer...

Oh the pumpkin SF syrup is the bomb! I think I found it at Bath, Body and Beyond... ? I don't know, it was in Phnx and they have stores there I had never been too and I went to TONS. I felt like a visitor from another planet, I was in such AWE. I live in a county with less than 40,000 people, we have a Mall but it's like 6 or 7 stores and a food court...and we fondly call it the HALL!!!

Happy Tuesday ~ Okay, I'm not happy but it is Tuesday. Funny how what is happening is really making me get focused on staying on plan.

Oncloud ~ I always thought it was supposed to get easier but that sure hasn't been the case.

JoLynn ~ That sounds

Mary ~ Good luck with all of your appointments.

Hi everyone! I'm new here. I just read through your posts and you all are very encouraging and friendly so I thought I'd join in. I started with low carb (Atkins) again last week, and am down 5 pounds today. That puts me at 312, so my July 4th goal is to be under 300.

Thanks JustJo! I'm so impressed with your loss, by the way! I am doing the newer version of Atkins and am going to try to stay on the Induction phase as long as I can. If I see that I'm stalling or not progressing well, I may try switching to the 72 plan. I've wondered about maybe doing the 72 plan for 3 days a week and then add in veggies the other 4 days. Not sure if I would get better results that way, but I can't give up veggies all together. I think if I tried I would end up failing.

that makes sense to me, Strawberry . . . . sometimes we just have to go with what works for us, and how do we know that without trying?

Brought my hubby with me to my therapist and then to my rehab center so he could meet the people that treat me.

This morning early, he had a doctor's appt and the dr is changing one of his med's to try to get rid of his constant headaches and anxiety.

We went for a walk in the park this morning.

Food was ok until just now and I am sitting here eating soynut butter with an apple. Ugh!

Have to work on my budget this week.

Welcome Strawberry. I have been on the newer version of Atkins for about 5 months and have lost 58 lbs so it is working for me. For now, I am not changing anything.

Way to go Cloud, I am glad you are "back on track"

MaryMary, how is the dog adoption going?

I had a mini victory tonight. Our son is going to be here tomorrow night on his way to a 4 day music festival. He asked if I would make some cookies that he could take with him. I made a double batch of tollhouse chocolate chip cookies and for the first time ever I did not have any dough (I know, I know it is so bad for you) or any cookies. They are all packed away in bags and out of sight.

strawberry!

ColoMtn- Good job resisting the cookies! Chocolate Chip Cookies are my weakness. I used to make a double batch at least once a month.

Cindy- Sending good wishes to at this time. Good job focusing on you. I find that when I stay on plan I feel so much better about myself and it becomes easier to not stray from making good choices.

IMHO, my suggestion is stick to one version of Atkins for 3-4 weeks to give your metabolism a chance to detox from the carbs and see if that version works for you.

On A '72 we count actual carbs not NET carbs and it's pretty restrictive since we stay at "biological" zero carbs during Induction. A '72 WOE consists eating mainly of Eggs, Meats, Cheese and minimal veggies in the form of salad materials.

The newer versions don't work for me because I am extremely carb sensitive and can't lose or maintain eating a lot of carbs (<14 carb grams per day on maintenance).

Hey Jo, there's a quote out there, that fits this perfectly:

Sweet huh?

Welcome Strawberry !

Mary - sending good thoughts for your husband... +1 on any puppy updates?

Cindy - sending positive thoughts your way

ColoMtn - way to go on avoiding cookies ! (I always liked the batter better than the cooked cookies)

Changing things up a bit with my menu, cutting way down on the dairy products. I was practically eating my weight in cheese everyday.

Hope everyone has a great day

If you meet your July 4 goal, will you reward yourself? If so, would you mind sharing? I'm thinking of some sort of spa thing, like a deep tissue massage.

Had a good shopping day. Went to try on dresses and I am 2 sizes smaller! Found a cute dress to wear to work.
When I got to my car my left foot started cramping and wouldn't stop for about 10 minutes. It was a sight! I was writhing in pain trying to massage it out. Had to get out of car and walk around, step on my left foot with the right one to try to add pressure. All the while gasping and moaning, sweating and grabbing the car to steady me-it was awful. At one point I was able to get back in the car when the pain had subsided only to have it cramp up again once I had taken my weight off of it. It was so weird. My 2nd and 4th toes on my left foot had a mind of their own and were not in their proper positions. My 4th toe was twisting to the left and the 2nd toe was trying to stick straight up!
I'm laughing at it now but my foot is still sore 3 hrs later!
I guess I need to start taking potassium?!
