Parisfox - Thanks for the info. I have the 24hr monitor on for heart flutter after seeing Dr yesterday. He doesn't think it is serious and said I can opt out for the medication if the monitor doesn't come up with anything. I have nothing to wear to work that will cover the wires and this makes me uncomfortable with out a bra but I can deal until 2pm when they take if off.

I take this for sleeping. I do have a mild MR (mitral regurgitation) so I am due to see doctor for this.

I did stay away from all sugar alcohols and the palpitation did not happen last night...
Julie....I hate to be the bearer of bad news...but....when I found out that most hospitals use diphenhydramine for sleep and that it was safe, I took it for years....then I found out that is what caused my tinnitus. Stopped the diphenhydramine, but the tinnitus did NOT go away. I wish I had never heard of it.

Amylynn....Glad to see you found this thread. Daily weighing helps keep me from going totally off the track.

Jennifer....Good for you. I wish there was a decent gym near me and one that would be affordable. I did get the Leslie Sansone Walking DVD and will start that on Monday. I figure I might as well wait until after Easter. I'm going to my oldest daughter's for Easter dinner and she does NOT cook LC.

KUTGW, everyone. See ya tomorrow!!

Hi Parisfox
I had tinnitus before I heard of diphenhydramine so this was not my cause.
It does run in my Dad's family. My doctor takes it!
Doc said I had the option to take meds for flutter or 'not'. He takes the meds. I would select 'not' option every time. He is also going to do an echo...etc - - full physical. I don't expect to find anything. my bp is 110/72 so I know this is good. My triglycerides and cholesterol was very good last checkup and because of low carb its probably even better... Thanks for the info.

The whole reason I am on low carb to start is my weight, then its opposite of what my parents followed. I want to try something else so I don't get diabetes(Dad_ and alzheimers(Mom)....great genes eh?

I am getting discouraged by my numbers. The weight just doesn't want to go down. I have been eating really well with no cheat bites, processed junk or anything. When I ate like this before, I lost a pound every couple of days. I have even cut back on my how much I eat since I don't seem to have much appetite or food sounds icky. Weird!

I started back on low carbs on 2/4, lost 17 pounds then stalled for 4+ days
I got discourage and took a 2-3 day break(I am not suggesting this) but
when I came back to low carb (btw had bad carb flu for 2-3days) I started
losing .4 everyday and so far, bar tom, I have continued this way since 4/2.
So when I read about taking a break I am wondering if they are on to
something... ??? Still not sure if I believe in this but thought I'd share
with you. Also I have heard of people that just went on a fat fast(Atkins)
and also meat only for a few days. Another thing to look at is hidden
carbs in your food. I even looked at my vitamins, since I believe I am
hypersensitive to any carb in my diet.
Sorry to ramble here, just trying to help you, since I may be facing this
as well, but how soon? I have no idea, but I dread it...

Hii Parisfox, I got a call from Dr and it is an a-fib. He said it needs treatment and is sending me on to a cardiologist... If you don't mind, what is the name of your "blood thinner". Thanks again for all your help!
Of course the day I got the monitor on my DH and I had a big fight, which I will tell the Dr about too...

Thanks, Julie.

I was cheating way too much for the last few months and my trigs showed it on my last bloodwork. My dr. told me to get rid of any cheats and get the carbs down. I am working on being super strict with no cheats. It is actually helping in that I don't have cravings and my appetite has been suppressed like it was earlier in the process. I am also super resistant to carbs and have to be very careful.

Hey guys still maintainong 217. I think I need a new scale. Any suggestions?
I read your posts and I feel your pain. Losing is hard.Gaining is easy. Sometimes I think
I can't eat at all and would gain even then.

Anyway keep at it. We are here for each other. Let it out whatever it is.

Today I am up a bit, not much but a gain. In evaluating what I had yesterday I think what caused my gain were two things. Not drinking my water and eating a palm full of beef jerky. I'm pretty confident this is water gain.

Today's plan is to stay on program and drink my water.

Hope you all have a wonderful Thursday!

One year ago today I was 221.0.

TWO years ago today, I was 294.0

I'm still not letting my guard down though.

Belly, I can NOT eat and gain. It was folks like us that survived famines. Our bodies knew how to store the food.

Happy Thursday all. You guys are doing awesomely!

For the longest I have been at 337lbs or so or sometimes higher. I new I was retaining fluid but could not figure out why when I lowered my sodium intake etc.. Well I just found out that not only soduim causes fluid retention but sugar does too. Something about the insulin. Well I am happy to say since being back on lowcarb. I have dropped that stuborn 7 lbs it seemed would not move. I have been faithful in lowcarbing it since the end of March. I fell off slightly during my anniversary week April 7-9th which I gained. I wasn't really surprised by that.

Of course the day I got the monitor on my DH and I had a big fight, which I will tell the Dr about too...
I take warfarin. Warfarin is the generic name of the drug....Coumadin is the brand name. Coumadin is MUCH more expensive and is the same identical drug.

There are new drugs which don't require blood tests, but they have too many possible side-effects to suit me....especially since so many of them say "if you are over (a certain age) you are at greater risk for a fatal bleed. My nurse who manages my blood levels recommended that I stick with warfarin when I asked him about the new drugs.

If you are on warfarin/Coumadin and you have a serious bleed, they can give you a shot of Vitamin K and that will stop it. If you are on one of the "new" drugs and you have a serious bleed, Vitamin K won't stop it. All they can do is give you blood transfusions until the drug you are on is out of your system and hope it gets out before you bleed to death. Being on warfarin/Coumadin can be a pain in the butt, but for me, it works.

KUTGW everyone....this IS doable!!

Thanks Judy!
Hello everyone I have a challenge ahead of me for Easter,
Any advise will be appreciated for Easter at MIL. The whole family is obese and on the standard low fat and high carb diet. I was asked to bring fruit and some other carb. MIL will serve ham with sugar glaze. Should I just go off plan for one meal? I really just want to call out sick.... Maybe I should take a stash of bacon in a bag and eat that when I get tempted....hmmm
