Back on the boards after 8 years

I had lost 35 lbs 8 years ago and over time it has crept back on and then some. I had pretty much given up and resigned myself to a fat existence. Then about 3 weeks ago my husband had an episode in which he thought he was having a heart attack. After spending all day in emergency,(it was a false alarm-thank God) it was a real wake up call for us.
We are both fat and our daughters are also overweight. So this time around, we are doing this as a family. And even though we are only 2 1/2 weeks in, I think that we can stick to this plan. We are encouraging each other, planning meals together, charting our progress, and cheering each other on. At first my youngest (15) was not entirely on board. She wanted to have her "treats" and she is a pasta and pizza lover. I learned that I cannot be the food police and had to let her make up her own decision.
She was "all in" when she weighed herself after 2 weeks and was down 15 lbs! My 19 yr. old is down 16 lbs. My husband and I are both down 10.
So I look forward to this journey and learning to make it a lifestyle and not just another diet. I'm not a huge poster, but I'll try to do better. I'm thankful for this board and it was comforting to see that it was still around after I was away so long.

Jo...that is great...when you have support all around you it makes it a easier journey to follow when you are trying to lose weight....My DH and I are the only ones at home so now we are doing this together and it makes it so much easier...we both were at our highest we had ever been so we were honest with each other...it is time.
I lost my first DH at a younger age with a massive heart attack...and he was not over weight at all....and in the military...so we know those of us that DO have a lot of extra weight are more apt...to have one.... I was in California with my DH afew weeks ago to visit the Midway..Ship....We went all the way up the ladders to the top...and I thought that was it for me...my heart was just pounding so the next day I was on my LC plan and never want to look back....
Our goal is to reach the finish line...some will run fast and some will run slow but we will all be the winners when we cross that line

Summer is my next goal

Thanks everyone for the encouragement.
I look forward to having the success that you all have had! These boards are filled with so many great ideas that I know will help us stay motivated. Just this evening I made a yummy meatball soup that I found here and the family loved it! We were getting tired of chicken with veg or salad side.
