We have two clouds on the page now, Michele and #2.

I am glad I am not in North Dakota. It got quite cold in New Hampshire the last couple days but not that gold. Stay warm!

I happened across a story on the i ternet called The Gabriel Method. A program developed by a fellow who used to weigh 410 lbs and has lost 220 lbs. He looks hot now. It is an all-encompassing program that uses visualization and talks about emotional obesity, where our bodies are holding into the fat for a reason. Finding out what the trigger is allows folks to drop the weight. I think I am going to order the package. There are some meditation recordings for use at night. He does a couple short cooking classes and the meals appear to be on the low carb side. He had actually talked to Atkins before he died. He said Dr Atkns actually yelled at him because he coukdn't lose weight on his program. Any way, it seems to be worth a look see.

Yella, why did the movie make you sick? Was it because he overate? I think it really drove home the point that we are what we eat. The other movie I enjoyed was Forks over Knives. I had already read most if the books mentioned but when we watched that, it was a turning point.

Hope you all warm up and have a great week!

Oh ,
Michele, be so careful! Many people don't take it serious enough. This kind of cold can be very dangerous.

MaryMary-Think I'll watch super size me. I am always very interested in those shows that seem to get to root of the person's reason for overeating. My problem is I have no excuse. Great childhood. Great parents who expected a lot from me and I easily gave it to them. I had no trouble doing homework and made A's. I was the valedictorian of my class. I also excelled in any sports I attempted. I have often wondered what my deep dark reason is..!!?? I just like food. I guess that has to do for now.

Please everyone be safe and keep warm! And yes please please please spread the word to bring your pets inside! Even here in California I treat animals that suffer from being left outside and that's with ours 30-40 degree weather when its cold.

MaryMary- It made me sick because I do not know how people can eat frankenfood, let alone eat it 3 times a day everyday. There was a part where I think he said something like 10,000 cows can go into one burger, due to the processing. That is just so wrong and disgusting. It was actually supersize me that turned me away from fast food. I saw it when it first came out several years ago, so ever since I really try not to eat out at places like Mcdonalds.

Some of my favorite health related documentaries

I love netflix, but darn them and their addicting documentary section.

These are my favorite ones:

Fat, sick and nearly dead
Hungry for change
Food Inc.
Forks of knives. ( and the extended interview)
Food Matters
King Corn (I believe they took this one off, but I watched in my nutrition class as well and it is REALLY good!) So if you can rent it, or find it online it really is a must see!
Killer at Large
Farmageddon
Food Fight
Fire Engine 2 ( based off forks over knives.)

Thats just the health ones, don't get me started on the environmental, animal and social ones.

DH has been going every day and breaking up the frozen water for the chickens on my nephew's farm. He takes water too that he pours in so it won't refreeze so fast. They wrapped their house in plastic but DH said it was still very cold. Poor things.

I watched Super Size Me. I liked it because it's motivating. I always watch Biggest Loser and Extreme Weight Loss. They rev me up!

Deb- Hope the kitties got in the box during night.

Vella- Thanks for the list. I'm going to start going thru them!

Good News! I was at 53.5lbs down today. Lowest weight yet!! Yay!

Hi everyone!! This group was recommended to me in another thread. Just a quick introduction.
I'm 40, married and overall pretty happy. I had Lapband surgery in 2008 and the band has since broken. I have a lot of tummy issues so I'm considering having it removed...I'm not a success story by any means.
I've done LC off and on for years and I do believe its the healthiest way to eat. I have high BP and am looking to get that under control as well as improve my overall health and well-being.
As a side note, I've never had children and my husband and I are both 40+ so this is also a journey I must take in order to try for fertility treatments.
Next week I'm having surgery for a massive kidney stone - caused by not drinking enough water. I've had a few lithotripsys with little to no success so now I'm having a "PERC" which is a surgery that involves an incision in my back to remove the stone (its very large).
So that's my story in a nutshell Nice to re-meet everyone!! (I've lurked and posted a few times...)
I hope everyone is having a great start to their new year! I've just made a nice salad and I'm waiting for my ribeye steak to finish cookin.

I just got confirmation on my kidney surgery!! Whew - was really worried since its Tuesday and nobody has called to confirm the date.

It's been COLD here in Oklahoma too! But not nearly as cold as the N/NE. I have a friend in MN and she said the high yesterday was -10!! Yikes!

Eating is going well - enjoying leftover ribeye and salad for lunch. Tonight I'm going to bake chicken wings!

I was so hungry today that I'm eating lunch a lot earlier than normal - I hope I'm not starving by 5pm LOL. I should've brought a snack.

I need to get off Splenda I think. I have two with morning coffee and 2 in the evening with my hot tea...I really enjoy my hot tea at night but I'm worried 4 packs a day are too much...what do you guys think?

Hello everyone! 55lbs down today. New low! Yay!! So cold here. I know it doesn't sound bad to you northerners, but 6 degrees here is record breaking low! It will not be above freezing until tomorrow afternoon. Then high 30's. We just are not equipped for this! Lol.

Deb- Hope you kept power on!! Waiting to hear from you!

Shelly- Sounds like you're doing great with eating! I too am trying to cut out Splenda. Stevia is a good alternative. I get the drops as they are supposed to be healthier.

MaryMary-Hope you are staying warm!

WOW 55lbs!!!! That's so amazing!!!!

I will try Stevia at some point. I can drink everything without artificial sweetener except for my first cup of coffee in the morning and my hot tea at night.

i have used a lot more splenda than that LOL but it sure triggers one of those hemiplegic migraines for Ken if he has it now any AS does Stevia is really good especailly the liquid one but a little goes a long way i used too much at first and that made things bitter

Thanks Shelly! I wish I could do without sweetener! I'd rather drink water which is mostly what I do.

Deb- Everybody always says that about Stevia. It's just not that sweet to me. I use 4 to 6 drops in coffee or tea. I love my sweets!
