Plataue's and Weight Gain Story
I've plateaued and gained weight (1 lb - over two days) a few times in the past two months and wanted to share a couple discoveries.
I meticulously track: Protein, Total Carbs (Sugar & Fiber Carbs), Fat, Sodium, and Calories of everything that I consume which made zeroing in on the cause of plateauing and weight gain, easier.
The first time was when I ate "Flatout Flatbread". The nutrition label shows great promise:
Total Fat 2.5 g
Sodium 210 mg
Total Carbs 16 g
What I didn't look at were the ingredients which I discovered included wheat. I discontinued the flatbreads and my weight loss resumed.
The second time was yesterday. I purchased Splenda Essentials with Fiber and ingested 12g in an attempt to balance out my insoluble and soluble fiber requirements. My total carbs for the day were 37 of which 55% were fiber carbs, and only 7g were sugar carbs.
The fiber in Splenda Essentials is of the soluble type, so I balanced the 12g of soluble fiber with some insoluble fiber (apple skins) of the same amount (12g). Note: Five of the sugar grams I ingested yesterday were from the apple skins.
So we'll see how today goes without Splenda.
Just goes to show how unique all of us are and how ingredients cause our bodies to react differently than expected.
