I'm here. I ended up with food poisoning two days in a row. I had made chili on Sunday, something must have been wrong with the turkey. I know it was cooked well. I hadn't eaten any until Monday for lunch. I thought all the cramps and all was because of tom, even though much worse than I usually experience . It wasn't until I had the ChiIi for lunch again Tuesday and had same reaction that I realized it was the food. I've been wiped out. Good thing is that I'm feeling better today. Between the food poisoning, tom and a very stressful week at work I'm just feeling quiet. otherwise, I'm doing good staying on plan

Greetings everyone!

I've had a stressful few days, but am excited to have an extended Thanksgiving holiday. I'm heading to Vegas for a few days to visit with some friends and then off to my parent's house for family Thanksgiving time! I'm going to try to read and post while away (if I win big, I will be sure to tell everyone!).

Just checking in. I saw a new low today. 143.4 lbs.
The only thing I did differently yesterday was drink more water. Usually when I see a new low I won't see it again for a couple weeks if it decides to hang around.

I don't know what life is like in the 140's. I have never been in this range for more than a couple weeks the year I got married in 1975. This will take an adjustment and something I have always feared. Which is probably why I would start overeating again. That I don't want to do but am very anxious today.

Good morning. Raining today. The job is getting better everyday. Woohoo. I got my 20 lb turkey yesterday. I have to double check my list but I think I have everything I need for turkey day. One week to go!

I have no idea when I'm getting my Christmas decorations up. I usually do it Thanksgiving weekend but not sure this year as it's so late. I'd like to get some up this weekend but I also want to clean and prep for Turkey day too.

Count Me In!

I'm new to this board, and fairly new to low carb eating (just found your group and joined today) and started at 330 lbs., so I'd love to be a part of this sub-group. What do I need to do?!

Short version of my story is I was in the hospital back in September which really got my attention (terribly high blood sugar and heart/brain issues) - and I started eating low carb upon the recommendation of my Lyme doctor to help the diabetes and obesity and was so amazed at how much better ALL my numbers got - and so very quickly! - that I've stuck with it and have already dropped 40 lbs.! Still have a long way to go and many health problems to overcome, but I'm on my way and 100% sold on low carb...

So far I've only read Dr. Bernstein's "The Diabetes Solution" and Doug Varrieur's "Fat to Skinny" - would love more reading material if you have any suggestions

Hello oncloud9now2, I have been here every day reading the post.

My sister and I made our Thanksgiving list and we are going shopping this afternoon. I have done all my comparative shopping to drive my checker crazy. I have gathered all 8 grocery store sales paper in Houston and have the best price for everything on my list to get that price at the register with the papers in tow ready to prove to the checker, if questioned. I also have my coupons ready to use and in order of the store. Yes, I'm the one you don't want to be behind in the grocery store saving all that money due to the time I spent planning.

I chuckled as we made our menu out and not one dish we make is gluten, sugar or carb free. The turkey is shot up with oil and mayo while cooking on the trinity, the ham is smothered in maple syrup, brown sugar and orange juice and the roast will have a gravy made with flour and millions of carbs surrounding it. The yams, dressing, mashed potatoes, cream cheese corn, mac and cheese, broccoli and cheese will make their presences known full of fat and salt. Oh but we will have veggies, cabbages, collars, green beans and potatoes. We are making 5 cakes, 2 breads and 5 pies. Oh less we forget the appetizers to keep folks from complaining about dinner will consist of hot wings, bbq meatballs, pig in blanket, crab dip, cheese straws and millions of crackers and bread. Oh a Texas Thanksgiving, provides the ingredients to maintain obesity, high blood pressure, diabetics, arthritis and every other disease you can think of. I just had to share how I have eaten for years and I'm not one who wonders how I got fat. lol I know, my sister, me and my sister-in-laws can cook our asses off. And ABSOLUTELY NOTHING comes from a box or partially made, it's all homemade from scratch. The only thing we don't do is grow or shoot it.

I will be in the house with all this food starting Sunday when we start to cook. This will be hard but I'm determined to try and make it though without slipping up. Oh this would be so easy if I did not have to help prepare this feast.

Now the good part, I'm making myself 2 wonderful well seasoned Cornish hens. and if I have to have carbs, I will enjoy some of the cabbage and collars. I do have my plan. I know not allowed, but I'm taking 2 large bags of pork skins and tabasco sauce along to snack on all day My crab dip is low carb friendly also though not Stillman friendly. I'm also going to have baked thighs handy. I'm intending to stuff myself with meal all day to make sure i'm not hungry at 3:00 pm for anything but my juicy Cornish hen..

Is anyone else cooking for the family and having to struggle though the holidays surrounded by things you are Choosing not to eat this time.

Gloria
