Day to day it seems so slow, but looking back I have no complaints. I have started an end of year mega challenge to keep me on pace through the major food-based holidays (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's). The basic rules are pretty simple:

1. I cannot weigh more on January 1 than I did on October 1

I realized that I've already made that goal too easy - and that it doesn't prevent me from Thanksgiving recidivism followed by a make-up effort in December - precisely the mentality I'm trying to avoid. So I changed the rules for myself just a little.

2. I cannot weigh more on the first of any month than I did on the first of the preceding month. A natural extension of this: I must weigh less on January first than I do on December first. I have to show progress every month - or at minimum not lose any ground.

The point of this? On the day that the entire nation wakes up from their three month carb-fest filled with regret, I'll be celebrating three solid months of success.

Woe is me! I can't weigh today--the 3V lithium battery on my scale has bit the dust. I will replace it today and catch up tomorrow.

"Z", I love your challenge for the holidays. I will take that as my own. I am moving in the right direction and want to stay with this WOE. Thanksgiving is one day and so is Christmas--I might go a bit astray on Thanksgiving because we are eating with a large group--but that shouldn't mean that I can just take 6-7 weeks as free range eating. I have started over so many times and I don't want to do that again.

I can't believe how really good and energetic I feel. I have some arthritis and it seems to be easing up or gone in some places. My wrist is still slightly touchy, but I can control it with one Advil a day! Not bad.

I am so amazed and encouraged by all of you. I see that we all have our struggles, but if we open up to others and get the support of those who have been in the fray, we can do anything. Maybe World Peace is the next challenge!

Hugs to everyone.

China Doll~ I think you're gonna be a-okay, your mindset is right where it needs to be to have a successful run!

Laura~ thank you. I just keep doing what I'm supposed to, I know I'll get there! Your support is so appreciated.

Thanks - I've been really happy with my progress over the last few months. Adding in a day or two a week of meal skipping really seems to be helping me to keep consistent, sustainable losses.

It's funny, 2 pounds away from my year end goal. From my stated major milestone. Now, I can gain two pounds in 30 minutes just by eating a solid meal. But it's going to take me two weeks to drop two pounds.

Sorry I didn't post yesterday. My daughter had to cheer all day and I was with her as I am team mom. I ate very little and only drank a couple of cups of tea. By the time I got home I was sorta hungry and then the sugar/candy craving slammed me. I did do a small binge on candy corn. I had some SF jello with some HWC poured over it and it helped some. I think when I don't eat decent meals during the day, the evening finds me snacking.

I am having computer problems with this site for some reason, but I wanted you to know that my scale has a new battery and I am up--212.5 today. That is a +1.0 since 10/25. I am still determined (or demented) to make this work!

I am also not "evacuating" very well, so hopefully the Poo-Poo fairy will come back and visit me soon.

I have to figure out how to move my previous listing to this message.

I will be back Monday!

Progress ???

Not the best weekend, the other half was home for the weekend. Usually he travels and is only home for a few days every 6 weeks. He's been home the last 2 weekends which is good and bad! lol I have to cook meals for him because he's so tired of eating out but I tend to make toooo much food! The good thing is that he eats my LC food without complaint!

Okay, I think that I am back on track and I feel acutely that this is usually where I get disappointed that I am rocking back and forth with weight and I eat something or decide to try another program. NOT THIS TIME! I am energized with the WOE and I am trusting that you all have gone the long haul. I have gone back and looked at many posts and know that continuing is the right way.

I think that I might add a bit more fat. My carbs are running around 20 grams or even slightly lower, but as Z mentioned--it is difficult to be totally sure because of a margin of error. I think if I stay in the 20 gram range, it could be 25 grams--but I know it is not much more than that.

Does anyone know what caffeine does to this WOE? I have allowed myself two large cups with sugar free flavoring and HWC. What about diet soda--I do not drink cola anymore, but I indulge in sugar free Creme soda a bit. The rest of the time it is water or iced green tea.

Since I seem to be rather constipated--sorry to be so blunt--but I do want answers--should I be pushing more water? I probably drink about 36-48 oz. a day.

It's foggy, dark and gloomy this Monday.

To all the newbies.

Z. . great challenge. Lately, mine has been "i cannot weigh more this month than i did last month". I'll hopefully get my forward locomotion going eventually. I know exactly how to do it. I just haven't been as faithful as I should be to myself.

China, what has worked for me in the plumbing department is Citrucel. I take 3-4 tablets every morning. It doesnt make you gassy like other fiber supliments might. It's a godsend for me. Now, I still have the occasional back up, but it usually resolves itself within days, pain free, and without the intervention of laxatives.

As far as the WOE goes, yeah, hang in there. You definitely need a lot of fat to make it work. sometimes, you have to tweak different levels of fat, protein and calories to make it work for you. Good luck!

Dear Terri,

Thanks for the help. I will check it out next time I'm out shopping. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who might have this problem.

Congrats to all of you who a good loss (there is no such thing as a bad loss from my stand point) this weekend.

Z, I have been reading all of your posts since the beginning on Shark Sandwish. It is very uplifting and gives me more resolve to stay the course. Your voice is beautiful and I really love your intellect. Someday, I will have to post some of the helpful things that people did when I was a child--not a particularily obese child, just a bit rounded. Cruelty in the form of verbal abuse, even when hidden in "humor" isn't a way to help anyone lose weight or change anything. These were good people but just not using a good approach. I've dealt with weight problems since I was 5 or 6 years old and made to feel "less than because I was more than." I will be 71 in December and I have had a good life, even better than a good life--but this aspect of it has been the ugly spot that I always know is on the front of my dress. I have decided that I am going to conquer this NOW.

Thanks, everyone for listening to this rant.

Hugs to all. You are all so supportive.

Terri - WOW love the pictures! How inspirational! You look great.

It looks like everyone is doing really well! KUTGW! 3 more days of October, let's make the most of them.

I wish that this was going a bit faster--but I am down 7.0 pounds in 2 weeks and when was the last time that happened. I'm going to try to eat more eggs and watch my salad veggies--not the quantity, but the selection.

I drank a lot of water yesterday and I'm going to keep pushing that. Any other suggestions?

Terri, your pictures are amazing! You are beautiful, very sexy.
Becbelle, you just keep plugging along and I admire you for your diligence.
Z, I have read a bit more than half of Shark Sandwich and I find it fascinating and so helpful.

I should comment on others--and will as time goes by--but everyone is keeping me moving toward my goal. THANKS
