Hey mind if I join?? I have a daily scale problem....3x in a row..just to make sure:D
I am trying to get the 50+ pounds off that I gained from being preggers and not sticking with my woe, and not going back to it as soon as I had him. DS is now 13ms old. Time for the weight to go....

May I join you guys? I've been doing LCHF for a few weeks, but I'm quickly losing my motivation as the scale is just stuck or bouncing between the same 2lbs. Ugh! :(

burlesml - check what your eating to make sure there are no hidden carbs and then stick with the plan. I bounce around all over the place and then bam a whoosh. Some people lose fast some people slow... There also seem to be way points for our body. A weight that our body likes and just doesn't want to get away from... just keep going.

Thanks for the support! I'm tracking on ***, so I think I'm good with the carbs...sticking between 10-20gm most days. I don't think I'm eating enough though....just not hungry. Also, I work 3rd shift and have my girls during the day, so I only get 2-3 hours of sleep a day, which I've read can slow you down. Trying to stay positive, but I'd LOVE to see a whoosh!! So glad to have found the boards!

Sleep has a hugh effect on your weight loss. I know I've had days where I only got a few hours sleep and was up by as much as 4# from the day before.

Z you are doing so good. Could I just ask you two questions? How do you stay cheat free and constantly motivated? Do you also exercise?

I'm a daily weigher from way back. I lost 50 lbs and lost my motivation. I've gained the weight back + 4 lbs and have found my motivation again. Mind if I join? My weight is always so over the place that I need to see what it is doing day to day to keep me from feeling defeated on those up days.

My name is Jennifer, I am about to turn 37 years old and I am determined to spend the rest of my 30's getting ready to look fabulous in my 40's. I live in Tucson, AZ, am married, and am a mother of one.

I started Atkins one week ago today. It's been a rough week for me and very difficult to stick to my diet but I have made it through one week. I'm feeling very proud of myself. I look forward to getting to know everyone here. Happy Labor Day!

Howdy - It's good to see a fellow Tucsonian on the boards. Looks like you're already off to a good start.

Part of my recent success comes from the rapid loss associated with early ketosis - I spent a few months off plan due to personal circumstances which deprioritized the importance of weight loss. August was completely dedicated to staying on plan, as I'm making my end of the year run. I have only just now undone the damage from the few month stumble.

As for exercise, I walk to and from work. And I lift weights after work every day - though I've not been as consistent with the weightlifting. I lost the bulk of my weight with no exercise at all.

When I am on plan, I stay on it with a vengeance. I read every label, and I refuse to eat anything that can't be investigated. There are a few restaurants at which I can eat safely, but for the most part I cook my own food.

The secret to staying cheat free?

Eat amazing food.

Take the time to chop and saute an onion and some garlic. That'll make everything delicious. Cook roasts, and freeze what you can't eat. Take lots of safe food to work with you.

Eat until you're full. Hunger is the biggest enemy of success. This does mean you're eating a much larger helping of meat - but remember, you have to account for the potatoes and corn and dinner roll that you aren't eating.

You can't just cut out the carbs and not expect to add something in to take up the slack.

Don't be afraid of fat. Butter is your friend. Eggs are your friend. Flavor is good for you.

Most of all, be honest about carbs. Make your own salad dressing - there's no carbs in red wine vinegar or olive oil or parmesan cheese. Hidden Valley, on the other hand, is packed with sugar. Sugar doesn't go away just because you've dumped it on vegetables.

As far as your metabolism is concerned:
Sucrose is sugar.
Corn syrup is sugar
Dextrose is sugar.
Lactose is sugar.
Fructose is sugar.
Invert sugar is sugar.
Wheat is sugar.
Oats are sugar.
White rice is sugar.
Brown rice is sugar...

Your system doesn't care if the sugar came from a candy bar or an apple or a carrot or a potato. Sugar is sugar. Be ruthless in cutting out sugar, and ride out the initial discomfort - eventually, not cheating becomes very easy.

Having a little sugar just prolongs the addiction. Feeding a craving is the only way to prolong a craving.

Stop loving food.

Does this sound familiar? "I couldn't possibly do low carb, because I LOVE Italian food" So did I. And potatoes and cake and noodles and candy... That's how I hit 350.

Now, I don't love food. And as terrible as that sounds to someone who loves food - it's the best thing that has ever happened to me. I never find myself wishing I was hungry so I could eat that *amazing* lasagne.

The trick to not cheating is not cheating. It's a cycle that builds a positive habit, and that habit gradually dulls and eliminates the cravings - making it easier to remain compliant.

Above all, it is your mindset.

You have to be all in. gung-ho, full throttle, 110% You have to want this to the point of being irrational. You have to want this more than you want pizza or pie.

Slips will happen - to succeed, you only have to get back on the horse one more time than you fell off.

That said - it is a big deal to slip. it has to be, or else you will do it all the time. But what is in the past is in the past. You have to be focused on present to reach the future you want.

The only moment you have is right now. Make right now count.

Good Morning !

Z, thank you so much for your words of inspiration. I totally agree with everything to wrote. When I eat sugar, I crave sugar. When in ketosis all the cravings disappear. Today is day one and I will count every carb I eat and always cook and have low carb foods easily available . Food will not control me. I have a strong mindset, I must keep it always. From this day forward I will lose not gain. I can do this!

Hi to everyone else and have a great day.

Due y'all just cut and paste to make the post faster? is that the only trick there is or am I missing a tip?

In the bed today, around noon my back started locking up. Heating pad and ibuprofen are my friends today!

mcneilnomore 09-03-2013 08:36 AM

Lizzybme- cut and paste is your friend, at least that is what I do.

Z- Thank you for your post. Really great words there!

Hi TerriB. I'm sorry for your loss.

Good morning to Everyone!

It's been a rough weekend for me. My cat became sick last week and had to be put down and I'm really having a hard time with it. My mom called me this morning that her dog passed in the night. Not a good weekend for our pets. :(

I have really struggled with wanting comfort food which confirms that I am a big time emotional eater. I was able to stick to my plan, excepting one nonfat pumpkin spice latte. I won't go as far as saying it was my last but I won't be having them every day or week like I have in the past. Darn Starbucks and their delicious brews!

Hope everyone has a great day today. Back to work! :)

mcneilnomore losing a pet is so hard. I have 2 lil boys and they are my kids since I have an empty nest at this point. So my thoughts are with you and your mom.

Z greats words of wisdom. Also a question, don't you post graphs of weight loss? I need to work one and a spreadsheet up for one of my threads. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

lizzybme hope the pills kick in quick!!!
