got Steven moved into his dorm SIGH he didn't bring HALF the stuff his roommate did! his roommate seems nice. there is a ton of storage he has 6 drawers a big closet and room above the closet plus a cabinet to one side of the sink with a cork board on it
i sure hope he is having fun he is at the camp until tomorrow then they will be back at the dorm and supposed to have activities all week the rest of the students start going there friday i am hoping with so much fewer people on campus he will be able to get a little familiar with it and not be so nervous we are taking his computer and bike up to him on thursday
i was not the only mommie crying

Poor Mama. I really feel for you. I'm glad he is getting to have some time before everyone else gets there.

what food does this label belong to? I see it has dextrose (form of sugar), cultured corn sugar, and corn syrup in it, among other stuff.

Looks highly processed. I think LC is best when it's clean - it's not only about ditching carbs, but also about being healthier by avoiding processed foods and all of their additives/colors/preservatives/chemicals.

And I agree with you, chicken skin is not only yummy but super good for us low carbers.

I see.....yeah, very high in sodium, too. Can't believe all the sugars they put in these things. The only ones I bring at home occasionally are Hebrew National, but they are way too salty for me.

I think there will be a media center if he needs to print out stuff. As far as I know, nowadays most college homework is submitted in electronic format directly to professor's inbox. It's a very good price though.

My kid doesn't want me or DH to go move him into the dorms. Says a friend will drive him over and help out. I told him we are doing it for us as parents. He doesn't have much to take, anyway, just his computer and laptop and clothes/shoes and toiletries and sheets. So the three of us need to sit down and figure it out. As it happens, the 24th is also a meet the teacher morning for me (yes, on a Saturday ) so that makes making plans for move in day more difficult.

Deb, I told DS not to take his computer but he can't imagine his life without it. just got it for Christmas. I am concerned about it, too. Housing advised us to get renter's insurance for any valuables. For electronics, money, etc., there are locking cabinets in the rooms. I don't know....I'm so anxious and my kid is so laid back.... he said he'll "deal". OK then.....And, all Twin XL sheets are out of stock everywhere unless they are super expensive. I have one on order with the big A store, but they are backordered, so who knows when things will show up.

Thanks for the reading light suggestion. I think I'll get him one.

Soooooo, how is life as an empty nester?

AWFUL lol ken or i one will end up in jail!
i am sure they will have to have their computers but since Steven wasn't even going to be on campus until tomorrow he thought it would be better to bring it later classes don't start until next week
his roommate DID bring his computer but his mom put it in one of his boxes and resealed it and put it in the bottom of his closet for while they are gone we just did not know if anyone would have access to their room while the colonel camp people were off campus
i want to see if i can locate another calculator too i know i have them stashed everywhere around here i don't know if Steven would keep up with that big TI one he has
keep good thoughts about him getting a work study job even though he is approved for 3k for the year it isn't ASSIGNED there you have to apply and all just like a job anywhere else SIGH (and then some kids DON"T get their work study EEK)and we know our track record on those
i did see a stage hand propsman job opened today for the theater departmentand that would be perfect for him he has experience both at school and here heck he cut every board in our 2 story addition! and he has been making sets and props for 3 years in high school
wish i had his attachments! or knew what file he kept them in on his computer i would sent in an application for him for that one!

i ordered Steven's bedding early in the summer when there was a special on wal mart site and we had a set from when he went to Berea as well figured 2 sets of sheets would do him
i saw one today that had bedding a storage truck and a few other things i think have you looked there? shipping to the store might get it to you quicker when does your DS leave?

he leaves on the 24th but may come home - first day of classes is the 28th I think.... I was on the walfarts site earlier but they are sold out of every color of twin xl for the more reasonably priced sets. I guess I have to spend like $60 for a set if I want to get one.

I'm done with my 10K steps and 4.5 miles. Meeting in school tomorrow. Hope it doesn't take too long.

Yeah, Deb, the boys tried to get some mowing in on Sunday and it was too wet and too tall. I don't know how they're going to cut it after even more rain. Maybe a sickle????

Good Morning All

The computer doesn't like me this morning - this will be my 3rd attempt to post. It keeps telling me I need to log in but I am logged in? I'm not typing this again if it fails to post again! LOL

We'll see........

Anyway - I worked late again yesterday - was late to daycare. Hopefully this will be over soon. I'm soooo tired at the end of those days I practically want to fall into bed.
But what did I do instead? DD5 wanted Spagetti and meatballs....so we made the meatballs and I made a small bath of noodles for her and I had a salad with a couple meatballs. We didn't eat til 8:30.

"Mechanically separated" <---- stay far far away!!! I read its the lowest quality of meat out there. I'm always tight on money but I buy sausages/hot dogs from the grocery outlet. They often have the big name brands and its just a matter of reading the label - the less ingredients, the better, nothing that says mechanically separated.
I spend about $1-$2 on a pack ...I think the most I ever spent was $2.29
Also when you buy your burger patties - read the label!!!! There was a box of burger patties on sale .... I read the label...it had parts of a cow that should not be there...

Eliza - Ok...so you raise your son and now he doesn't want you to go to college with him? Go anyway- as parents you earned to go.... Its how things go, when the kids go to college - Mom and dad drop off. He is lucky enough to have mom & dad.... my kids will just have Mom....

Deb - I love that pic of the little boy and the caption of how the child leaving for college looks through their mothers eyes.

Though my dd12 didn't leave for college ... she will have been gone a month between visiting her father and camp (well minus the 20 hours she spent here inbetween).
I miss her SOOOOOO much! I can't even imagine how it is for you.
I just tell myself that as long as I did my best as a parent, I can hope the my children will make the best choices for them as well...

...Not like that worked out for me .... I tried "following my heart" and have an ex-husband and an ex-boyfriend of which each relationship lasted 6.5 years and then FAILED. So...I hope my kids learned from my mistakes and don't have to go through that.

I didn't get any good sleep last night - just had stupid dreams. One was about "true love" and how true love never stops or walks away. ......... ya well, I did think I was in-love both times but both of them walked away....

Then I had a dream about a race in the ocean. It was me and 3 others.... we would jump off a platform and the race would begin through underwater tunnels and pathways, etc... here is the catch, when we jumped in the water all of us would turn in walruses and the females ones would be wearing pink dresses. Goal was for the male to catch the female and the females goal was to not get caught...the race was on until the timer went off. Once we jumped back on the platform we would turn human again. WTH??? lol sometimes I wonder about my dreams but I always have weird ones after crazy days at work.

Well, I need to go. I hope you all have a Great Tuesday!!!!

See you later

>>>Annett
