I need to leave for the dealership for car maintenance, but I'm still dragging my feet on it. The thought of spending 2 hours sitting around while waiting for my car to be worked on is not very pleasant. Booooooring!

Just read everyone's posts. DH and I went to play Bingo at local chicken sandwich store. Met DS , her DH and our precious great niece. She is moving in to college this Friday. We will really miss her. She's going to Lee College, TN. Anyone close to it?
I didn't weigh this morning.
chewie- That was very thoughtful of you to make the teachers cupcakes. I know how hard it is and a little treat really could make my day!! You sure do cook a lot!

It took only 40 minutes. I was surprised because they had told me it would take 1-1.5 hrs. My lucky day I was just getting into a new book on my Kindle and they called my name and told me I was free to go.

Hello All I hope you had a great day!

I just got back from the "mandatory orientation" for my degree program. I thought it went very well.

Then we went to counseling this afternoon. I thought I am doing well....we're getting lots done and even though some days I still miss him...I thought I was doing WAAAYY better but she is suggesting anti-anxiety/depression meds --- which is making me think "am I doing better?" I thought I was. She said I have a lot of guilt (true..but what mom wouldn't??). I don't know. She wants me to see a Dr before we try these to get a clean bill of health because I haven't done a regular check up in like forever.
I don't have $$ to see a Dr so I don't know what to do here.

DD5 is playing outside (yay). I just had to swallow my pride and ask my parents to pay off the remaining $$ I owed college so I can register for fall. There is no way I could pay that right now. They happily helped so hopefully in the next day or two I will be clear to register for my classes.

Well, I'm going to see if I can do a little cleaning and then start on dinner.

I hope you all are doing well!

Maybe she just thinks it'll take the edge off. With your finances so tight, maybe you can just ask her about over the counter stuff to use like St. John's wort(sp??)or HTP or even Rescue Remedy---I use this one.

ya maybe. She just said I had A LOT OF guilt that I don't need to have because I have nothing to be guilty about. She is supposed to call me in a little bit....I will ask about those. Thanks for that. I just am worried about side effects from actual medication like that...I've heard horror stories!!

Annett, I'm telling you, the way these psychs are going, they will soon try to medicate every single human feeling out of us. You yourself say that you feel you are doing better. Plus, the side effect of these are sometimes scary. And running out of them can cause some crazy side effects.

I agree with Chewie, if I were you, I'd look for natural alternatives. Not just pills, but sunlight, movement, socializing. Do you have a Kindle app on your computer? I can loan you an excellent book on non-medication therapies to combat depression. And another super good book - "Feeling Good" - a classic.

For anxiety, I take Relora (NOW brand). Some stores sell it as Relacore, supposedly for WL. Doesn't help lose weight, but makes you super calm without being drowsy or out of it. They make it out of Magnolia bark extract. Even DH takes it if he expects a stressful night at work. I take it every morning before I get into some of the worst traffic in the country. Too many silly people driving crazy super stresses me out. With Relora, I am internally calm.

Eliza - thank you. I also believe that too many people are too medicated.
I see the cost of medications and believe its all a money game. One of our clients insisted on getting a written script for Tramadol for their dog....because she didn't want to buy it through us ($14 for 200)... we gave her one. She went to target... they wanted $154 for the same strength / same qty. Why? Because they can.

I really don't want to fall into the "needing my meds" bit. So any alternative way is better in my book.

I do have a kindle app on my nook. I left it at work by accident....they switched my days so I wont have it back until Friday. I know its safe there...and I don't want to have to drive and spend the gas to go get it. It will use 1/4 tank....it can wait til I get it Fri.

well my friends...off to make taco salad... and a couple tacos for DD5 (she loves tacos LOL)...

I'll be back

Annett, you can also download a free Kindle app on your PC or Apple....If you want me to loan you the books, PM me an e-mail address and I'll go loan them, then you'll receive a link in your e-mail. You'll have access for 2 weeks, then they "return' them automatically back to me.

Done with the 10151 steps for today, and 60 very active minutes. An all day meeting tomorrow - 8 am to 4 pm. Lots of sitting on my butt and listening to people drone on and on. Gotta get up early and try to walk on the treadmill if I'm gonna be sedentary for most of the day.

Hello Everyone

A while ago when he first broke up with me and some of you suggested Fly Lady for cleaning... it referred me to a website run by humana (mywell-being. c o m) and I was able to get the book: Well-Being For Dummies.. 100% free...no shipping...nothing. I just had to sign up for their site.
I got it in the mail today. Took about 4-5 weeks. But I'm going to read that too. Still available too if that's something you are interested in too.

Well, my DD5 fell asleep on the livingroom floor...so I hav to gently wake her to get her upstairs.

Good night all.... see you tomorrow..

Good morning. It is just perfect weather. I opened the window yesterday and it's only 60 out now. So nice and cool. DS14 has open house at the h.s. today and then football practice afterwards.

Good Morning All

I am home on a Thursday and its weird LOL. I work tomorrow instead. (Normally off Fridays).

Since I am not at work today - I can't go to the Sherwood food bank but I am going to try to go to the other one here in town that I normally can't get to since normally work Thurs. We'll see. Wish me luck.

Well, I am going to try to get some cleaning done..... I'll be back later...

Have an awesome day!

Hello again

Yay! I made it to the food bank. They gave me 2 big boxes of canned goods....and a small container of donuts....DD5 was so happy about the donuts....
They also gave me a box of 30 or so peaches and they are super-ripe and need to be used NOW! I don't like peaches but the kids do... I was thinking... can I just wash them, cut them up and freeze them??? Do they need to be par-boiled? I think that's what its called.

Well, if anyone knows...please let me now...off to unpack the rest of the goodies.

Hope everyone is having a good day!!!

Late getting in here. I did lose my 3lbs from weekend plus 1/2lb. New grand total of 27.5 lbs. since May 27th. Yay! Had a great day with DS. Got the luggage out of closets and put them on the guest room bed. Put two swim suits in and am going to pack some more tomorrow. Hate waiting till the last minute.

Annett- Happy about your good fortune at the food bank!

chewie- Still raining here. It was not stormy monsoons today. Just rainy!

Eliza- Bet you'll get your 10000steps.

Buttercup- That's great. Wish I could do that. WTG!!

Good morning. Wow, I woke up with a bad neck ache. GRRR Not on a Friday.

Annett--glad the food bank was able to help. Sorry, I don't know about peaches but makes sense to me to cut up and freeze some. I wouldn't bother blanching them but that's just me.

Deb--did you get Ken some help???? Wondering . . .

Eliza--long day yesterday for you. Sorry about your sinus problem. Hope you got your steps in.

Jan--congrats on the loss. I'm excited for your vacation, wish I could come too.

Buttercup--good job.

Annett, I have a peach tree, so when we had tons of them all at once, I did the following: wash, slice up, toss with lemon juice to prevent oxidation/browning......then I arranged them in a single layer with space in between the slices, and put in the freezer. The next day I took the cookie sheets out and moved them to freezer bags. They stay pretty much individually frozen as opposed to sticking together in a big clump if you put them in freezer bags from the get go. Great in smoothies.

Hope everyone is having a great day. It's a relatively cool day here, 75 right now, unseen in the summer, so the windows are open. But it will be 89 by the afternoon, or so the weather forecast says. And 66 tonight.

Deb, where are you? Hope everything is fine at home.

Hey girls
Everyone is so quiet.

Personal best for me today - 12,034 steps, 5.2 miles, and 87 very active minutes. Wooohooo! Not bad for a very heavy person who isn't even in Twoterville yet. I would've had about 1,200 more steps except I forgot to wear my FitBit while shopping in one of those big box stores.
