Belly, I totally agree. I've been a member of this thread since May 2012. I've seen many many MANY people come and go, never to be heard from again. I agree that we SHOULD support one another! That's the purpose! We need to laugh, cry and most importantly, ENCOURAGE each other! We're all going through it! Many days, I'm very busy at work but I always try to at least write a sentence about what's happening. I've even gotten away from the words of encouragement!

Holy smokes! you aren't allowed to lose any more weight, Phranquie. I keep finding it. You're absolutely killing it!

Good call planning ahead before heading out to the jambalaya capital of the world.

Working nights in a city that always sleeps, I get in trouble when I forget to plan my dinners two weeks ahead of time. At 10:00pm, when I start work, the only thing that delivers is pizza - and I can't just go hungry for a 10 hour shift...

It's impossible to stay on the plan, when you don't do any planning.

Actually ate a little higher in carbs (still under 50) while watching calories, and seemed to work at least for this week. Sometimes it is hard to find that sweet spot of the right numbers/combo

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Going to be a hot one in CO. If I wanted to live in this heat, I would move to Vegas!!

Belly, just saw your post re: support for each other, and just want to take a minute to thank everyone who posts here.....you have all inspired me and give great tips, so please know, even if I fail to address each person, I appreciate all of your posts!

Spagirl, just noticed you live in SD. I was raised there, just got back from vacation in fact out there......I soooooo miss it out there!!!

My tip of the day: If you're not keeping a journal, you're missing out on a great tool! I've been keeping one since about 1998. Granted, seemed like every time I would fall off the diet wagon, I would quit journaling. Until recently. I write about EVERY struggle and EVERY triumph. You can't imagine what it feels like to go back a few years and read about how miserable and in pain you were. It keeps me motivated.

Also, digital diaries are not quite the same. They don't contain the emotion of the written word. I've actually stroked the page and FELT the emotion I had at the time I wrote a particular entry. You don't get that from computers.

Hi folks, glad to see we have to return to supporting each other. You know we need it. Beside who else can understand our drama but us. I will write a little tome today because I have been guilty like the rest of us in not doing so. So i am going to say a little more today hoping to movitate and inspire my LC buds. Ok.

Nanabell girl I told you that you would lose that vacay weight. You are right it is finding the right balance for your system. Like Terri said, log it, keep track of it. You get an idea of what you are doing and can adjust. When I stop yep - the weight creeps in. Weighing everyday keeps an eye on the weight. If a gain, I can analyze what I did wrong and adjust accordingly. Ain't it a shame some of us have to keep track like that while others can just eat away folks who wait a week sometimes notice a gain unaware that they may have lost during the week but something they did within the past 2 days may have caused the gain. So yep weighing everyday is annoying but accountablity is better.

LauraD sometimes you just need the rest. Don't fight it. If you do your body will view this as stress. Stress causes reactions to your metabolism = weight gain for most of us.

TerriB - hey lady you know we have to keep at it. Don't stop. You are my original shero. you have come a long way. BTW I left you a message on the before/after link that you posted your pics on. I guess you haven't visited that page in a while 'cause I didn't get a response from you. But I called you "skinny mini" those pic show quite the difference. You know you are a fox

Frankie - just how in the world are you doing that? You must have discovered a secret method or something! Dag girl you are the boss! I am from LA. beignets are big greasy doughnuts to the power of 3 ! You eat those things and you will pay the price. I went down to LA...to a fair...shared one with my brother...we both ate a bit of it and threw it away. It was good but we both knew the damage that thing was going to do. All of the fat and grease bubbling in your stomach Stay away from that! You ain't missin nothin but an upset stomach

Z Keep at it bro you are coming down nicely. I made the mistake of ordering a small pizza. Just cheese and pepperoni. I was busy and unable to cook. Plus with all of the TV ads food porn I had develop a serious craving for it. It was a small pizza. This is all I had for the entire day! At the most was about 900-1100 calories. Next day UP 2.5 LBS. Clearly carbs are not my friend. I cannot have too much of those type of carbs. Ain't noboby kicking you out dude you are our only LC brother. Keep supporting your sisters too

Spagirl looking good girl. Keep "working out" ( you know play on "spa girl" ).

Groovygirl Yes it is possible to "feel" skinnier the skin takes a while to adjust around the fat you lost. So you can lose 10 lbs but some it takes 2 to 3 weeks to actually see the lost. I read somewhere that when you lose the fat water fill in those fat cells to "reserve" the space for the fat. If there is none to store then the water leaves. This why it is important to keep drinking water. Go figure. The body is a machine.

Shannon- Great job! Yup a beignet is like a small very light donut sprinkled with powdered sugar.

Terri- I have never journaled before but thanks for the tip. I like the new avatar!

Sherry- I don't do well if I stay under 30 carbs for too many days so I shake it up a bit. I do better with higher carbs and fewer calories. 45-50 carbs seems to be my best.

I think this should be in the "list" of how to be successful at eating LC. I am just not good at winging it where food is concerned. It is too easy to slide into carbs if I have not planned ahead.

Laura- When my sleep is off it can really mess with my weight loss. So maybe once you get into a regular schedule you'll get back to the rhythm of losing.

Third shifters, that is so hard on the body and mind. I worked third shift for 10 + years, now I have enough seniority to work days. I feel for you guys with reverse sleeping and working days

Nanabell: I LOVE San Diego, I moved here in 1985, and other than a year out of the country, I have lived here ever since!
Terri: Happy Friday right back at you! I haven't done it yet, but I think I will start journaling.
Frankie: Watch out for hurricanes (the alcohol kind)!
Groovy: I feel the same way at times. My scale didn't move for almost two weeks in June, but I lost inches.

Laura--Just hang in there, that darn scale can only bounce so long before dropping!!

Terri- I agree on the journaling. Sometimes when I think the scale is just not moving fast enough, I look at old journal entries to remind myself where I started and where I am now!

Z-- Just noticed your start date and total weight lost......WOW!

Groovy Girl- Same thing I told Laura, keep on keeping on, and we can get that scale moving in the right direction.

Belly--20 pounds since May 6th........I bow down to you!!!!

Phranquie-- The 45-50 carbs and watching calories has certainly worked for you! It was reading through your success that got me to join the board and helped me to see LC can be a success!

Spagirl--Cafe Coyote in Old Town has great fajitas, and you can ask them to just put the meat/veggies on a bed of lettuce and it is really good!

Vixen--WOW, you are off to a great start.....way to go!!!

Ok so had 2 nights off in a row a rarity for me. I used the first night to experiment with turnips. I ate all my experiments. The scale shows this over indulging. Oh well it was yummy and at least all my over doing was low carb stuff. I did do well the next day, my roommate and I went to his sisters for lunch and then to the fair. I did not eat a funnel cake I did not eat an elephant ear and I did not eat the soft pretzel. I did eat a lil coleslaw at his sisters, not sure how it was made. Didn't feel right asking so I just ate a bit. Did find fresh made BBQ pork rinds at the fair so I did still get fair food. Then went home and experimented with low carb blueberry muffins. Had a great weekend!!!! Now back to work.
