Good morning. Hot, hot, hot. Bleck! I spent most of the afternoon yesterday cleaning the pool. It is finally nice. I had to scrub the walk in steps. Normally that is done in May but with the suction problem we had, we're just now getting to it. I expected my arms to be sore but surprisingly they are not. I got a little sunburn on my shoulders but not bad as I was mostly under the umbrella. We have 2 giant umbrellas that we can position to shade the shallow end of the pool. Love them.

DS18 had a bunch of friends over for a bonfire last night. I went to bed but strictly told him not to let anyone drink and drive. Some of his friends are 21 so they can drink legally. All seemed well this morning. I sure hope so.

You can get it at any grocery store or WalMart. Try to get the least carbs as possible. You can get different flavors but I just get plain.

Chris......don't give up. Change the diet plan if you need to and see if it helps. When I did LC yrs. ago I lost 70 lbs. and then Bam! It was like a door shut and wouldn't open back up.
After a year of losing the same 3-4 pounds over and over I gave up. I gained a ton back so be sure and do something different if this doesn't work. I'm thinking and hoping it is due to the heat and it is water I am holding onto. I'll be counting calories closer if I don't see some movement. One thing I do know is I am feeling better and my clothes are getting a little looser so be looking for things like that to help you stay with it. We CAN do this!!!

I just found this LC recipe here from a lady who goes by Buttoni.
It looks really good. I think I will put it on the menu for next week.

Shepherd Pie

INGREDIENTS:

1 lb. ground beef, preferably grass-fed

6 oz. pork breakfast sausage (I use homemade)

2 medium carrots, diced

1 c. (about 8 oz.) zucchini squash, diced

1 c. frozen green beans

2 oz. onion, chopped

Dash salt and black pepper

1 medium (6-7″ diameter) head cauliflower

4 T. butter or ghee

4 T. cream

Paprika to garnish (optional)

DIRECTIONS: Preheat oven to 375º. Peel and dice the carrots. Chop the zucchini into ½” dice. You can substitute diced turnips for the zucchini if you prefer. Chop the onion. Place all these veggies and the green beans into a saucepan with water to cover. Bring to a boil, lower to a slow boil for about 5-6 minutes. Cook just long enough to slightly soften them, trying not to overcook, lest their bright color be diminished in the final dish. Drain veggies in a strainer/colander while you do the next step.

Clean and chop the cauliflower into smaller pieces, place in/over water and boil/steam until completely tender. Drain well in a colander and put back into the cooking pot and puree, along with the cream and butter. You can either do this with a stick blender if you have one, or in a food processor or regular blender in small batches to avoid overflow. Season with salt to taste.

In a large no-stick pan, brown the beef and sausage, crumbling as it browns. Gently stir the drained veggies into the meat mixture and toss gently. Spoon off and discard as much excess grease/liquid that is in the pan as this can get soupy int eh final dish. Spoon the meat/veggie mixture evenly into the bottom of the casserole dish. Using a spoon or rubber spatula, evenly distribute the mashed cauliflower over the top. Sprinkle with paprika to garnish if desired. Pop into preheated 375º oven for about 35 minutes or until the top is beginning to slightly brown. Serve and enjoy!

Hey Jan,

Quote:
Simply put, an Atkins Fat Fast consists of a 3 or 5-day cycle in which you consume just 1,000 calories a day. 90% of those calories should come from fat. (a Fat Fast should not be extended beyond 5 days because it is deficient in protein.)

Dr. Atkins states that eating 4 or 5 mini-meals is better for getting our bodies into ketosis than eating one large meal while doing a Fat Fast. During a Fat Fast you may consume either four 250-calorie mini-meals or five 200-calorie mini-meals. Consuming these small meals frequently throughout the day actually works better than complete fasting.

Dr. Atkins mentions cream cheese and macadamia nuts as the “perfect” Fat Fast foods. Ten ounces of cream cheese would be an entire day’s food allotment; divide the cream cheese into five 2-ounce servings. You could also opt for 5 ounces of macadamia nuts split into five 1-ounce servings and consumed throughout the day.
Not the funnest way to eat, but I hear reports of lots of weight lost with FF.

I had a bad day yesterday. Understand, Chris. I was hungry all day!! Could not get enough food. I would eat my meal and go looking for something else to eat. I DID NOT eat anything off plan but I probably ate two days worth of food! My dh has sweets that he eats and I didn't touch any of them. I have ingrained in my brain what I can and cannot eat. I just ate too much. I am going to be really strict with myself today. I will keep going.

Chris, hang in there! Maybe reading this thread will help. She has graphs and charts of her WL journey. I get discouraged, too, trying to remember that it takes time. I stalled big time around the 304s, too, gave up, and gained 16 lbs in about 8 months, now losing it again. It's better to be "stuck' where you are than to give up and end up regaining like yours truly.

I've actually been up and down for a few weeks. My stomach is not being very cooperative and keeps backing up on me, if you know what I mean. I have no room for veggies for fiber so it's an ongoing problem. I tried fiber caps, gross Metamucil and nothing is really working on a daily basis. I'm 1 pound away from 90 pounds but I had a goal to be at 100 by the end of July. I don't know that I will make it at this rate.
