Hey guys!

Frankie - I think all of us who have had lifelong struggles with keeping weight off realize at some point that vigilance is our best friend. I hate having to be so mindful of everything I eat, but there's no other way to keep the weight off.

Vicki - I'm like you; I think I've read every book and tried every plan out there. LC is the ONLY thing that has worked long-term for me, so I've stopped trying other things.

I've done pretty well this week. Cut my carbs back to 20-30 per day, and that has killed most of the cravings. The plan works if I work it! Weigh day is tomorrow, so we'll see...

6/22/13: the 100 lb. loss only lasted a few weeks, and I've since regained some of the weight. Stats updated to reflect this.

Heck yeah! Lost 2.8 from last week; was 192 flat this morning.

Indisputable proof to me that calories matter at this stage in my weight loss. I cannot go over 1500 max if I want to keep losing.

Congrats Vilya and Jan on the losses!

Not much to report here...worked this morning..went to the grocery store.. now I'm sitting here thinking a nap sounds good I should do something productive but I cleaned house and did laundry yesterday so not much that needs to be done. I have a Cornish game hen out for supper and may make a cauliflower dish to go with it....yummy!

Happy Saturday!

Good morning ladies! The scale continues to climb even though I'm doing nothing different I think TOM is on the way so that could explain it...This challenge is almost over....I had reached and even surpassed my goal of 285 for this challenge but now I'm sitting at 287 that is 7 lbs of water weight in 5 days! I know I could take a water pill and get rid of it but its only a temporary fix unfortunately...not to mention not very healthy! I know this will go away...it may not go as fast as I want but when I look back at my daily weigh ins since I started logging them April first..there are many of these weight spikes! And guess what?? Yep....they eventually go away!
I'm making Linda Sue's deep dish pizza today so I have the crust cooking now so it will have all day to cool in the fridge...then I will top it with ground beef, onions, green peppers, sauce and cheese...yum!

Jan: the Cornish hen was delicious along with some loaded baked cauliflower
It's these meals that make LC wonderful!!

Have a great Sunday friends!!

Yesterday I went to 3 movies and the biggest test for me being back on plan was to not eat popcorn. I wanted it but I want to drop weight so much more. So I ate an Ostrim stick (like a slim jim but made with ostrich and beef, 12g of protein and 80 cals) instead.

Vilya- Great job on your weekly loss!

Michele- Do you know why you are retaining water. A pound or two is normal but 7lbs seems to be concerning and I would take a diuretic if I had one. Your meals sound quite yummy.

Frankie: I'm not sure why ....I know I took a diuretic a couple days after getting back from vacation and lost 7 lbs in one day...then another 3 the next day.....I haven't taken any since so I'm guessing its all that coming back ....not sure other then possible TOM coming soon. Crazy!

I kept track of my steps for June and walked a total of 239,200 steps which tanslates into 95.6 miles. This averages just a tad under 8,000 steps a day.

Food is good. I am not real creative with cooking. I have my favorites and rotate 3 meals for breakfast. Lunch protein and cooked veg change based on the protein cooked. This week is a splurge with lobster and swordfish and I am cooking up some diced sauteed eggplant, onions mushrooms and spaghetti sauce. The veg should last 3 days.

Learning to maintain and be hapy with staying the same. The thrill of dropping a pound or getting under a certain number is no longer an incentive. Te job of getting comfortable with the me I am and work on my personal issues. We all have them. I want to grow spiritually.

Hubby is on the mend. But he is a little disoriented still so I guard the meds and dole them out. I am still preparing his meals and helping him get dressed. He should be able to dress himself by end of week, God willing.

Have a good day!

I did okay this weekend with food. Was a bit harder than the end of the week, especially because we do go out to eat. But overall I did good and will be working especially hard this week to drop the extra pounds. I had a zero weight loss month for June as I weighed exactly the same today as I did on June 1. I gotta get my but in gear again!

Mary- Glad your DH is doing better each day and that he'll be independent soon. My downfall in the past has been maintenance. I know that losing is the easy part (as hard as it seems at times) and that maintaining the loss without seeing the scale dropping each day will be most difficult for me. You are doing such good work and have continued your self improvement. You are a great example of what it takes to succeed.

Michele- Maybe take another one and see what happens? If you lose it all again in a day or two then I would go to the doc and try to figure out why you are retaining so much water.

Up 1/4 lb. on scale. Haven't been off plan. Getting aggravating since the 4th is coming up this week.

Michele- Do you watch your salt intake? Could it be that some days you're getting a lot of salt and the water weight is adding up? I agree with Frankie. If this continues, I would go to doc. 7 lbs. is a lot of fluid. BTW- tell me what you put in your 'Loaded Cauliflower '. It sounds wonderful!

Mary- Hope dh is more independent by end of week. I know you are doing what you love , but it can be exhausting. Your maintaining weight is my inspiration. I must remember to stay on here after meeting my goal. I did not last time and look where it got me. I think people with our eating problems need constant support.

Frankie: I had one of those zero weight loss months back in May...it stinks!

Jan: I put cream cheese, bacon and cheddar cheese on mine

Portia: Thats a good question...there already is a Labor Day challenge going on...Halloween maybe?? Scare away the pounds

Michelle, I found that cheese has oodles of sodium as does bacon and when I eat it, aside from tummy issues with cheese, my weight can stay the same or go up. I gave it up last Sept and my tummy issues have nearly disappeared. Now i can tell when it is worry.

Thanks for the support you guys. We all need it in one area or another depending on what life deals us. But if we don't eat over it no matter what, we will will come out of it intact

Well I think I know why I'm gaining....TOM is definitely part of the reason....I was wondering why I didn't feel well all day!

So what is everyone doing on the 4th?? I have to work a couple hours in the morning and hubby has to work at noon until probably 10pm....So maybe I will work on some crafts and get a head start for my fall show

Jes, we can do an End of Summer Challenge. We did that one year when we had several people from other countries who do not celebrate Labor Day.

Looking at the calendar I was thinking that End of Summer Challenge could end on August 31. That would be a good 8 weeks from July 4th and then maybe have a Fall one that ends on Oct. 31 for another 8 weeks. Or is 8 weeks is too long maybe shorten them to 6 weeks?

What do all of you think?

I know there is another labor Day challen out there and don't know who is in it or what it's all about. But I like our style here.

My vote is eight weeks too

I have been making waxed dipped teddy bears for a few yrs now...This yr my new thing is mittens out of unwanted sweaters

End of summer it is. I like the Fall one too, Halloween.
I've been posting in the Labor Day challenge. I made it my goal to lose at least 1 lb. a week, so that will be my goal for Aug. 31st. So far I am doing a little better than my goal. I do lose slowly though and want to keep my goals reasonable for me. I can't exercise but am trying to walk more. Let's do it!!!

I love the fall too.

I made a black bean and corn salad and can't wait to have it. There is cilantro in it and I love cilantro.

Looking into intuitive/mindful eating practices instead of the crazy good and bad foods.

Looking forward to the next challenge already! I have dropped all my weight from the two week dive into carbs so I feel very good about the next month.

Jan- Great job on being ahead of your goal!

Vicki- I love cilantro too. Yesterday I made a shrimp. bacon, avocado, tomato salad with lots of cilantro and a bit of lime juice. Your black bean and corn with cilantro sounds yummy.

Jan, your plan seems reasonable. I did much the same thing. Set small goals so that if I lost more, then I felt good. If I set the goal too high and don't make it, ai felt bad. Ii know I have no control over the number, just the food I put into my mouth, but okd behaviors die hard.

Michele, you are so creative. Creativeness is a form of spirituality because you give of your heart and soul in their creation.

Frankie & Vicki, I use cilantro when I make my salsa. It has a nice disntinct taste.

I am asking for more prayers for hubby. We had to take him back to the hospital and they are going to transport him to the hospital that did the surgery, 2 hrs from our house. It has been two weeks since the surgery and he is still in pain, the drain site is still oozing and he has an irregular heartbeat.
