Good morning. Yes, Sue, the cold and rain/snow is coming. If we see flakes, it will be the first time ever that it's snowed here in May. LOL

Deb--praying for Ken(and you!) I don't know what is causing the numbness in my foot and bottom. My left thigh also was giving me that weird pain/numbness I used to get when I was over 70 lbs heavier and stood too long. Today I am going to wear sneakers and see if that helps. I've been wearing crocks. Silly me!

You are a good friend to those of us who you talk to...and help many who I imagine read your posts and don't talk. You reach a lot of people in many ways. This is just your calling for now...

I have no one to talk to here in real life either...well, the apt. manager..and the mailman...I talked to them yesterday...

It sure could be. I had it when I was much bigger. Maybe the way I sit on the bike is causing it. I hope it just goes away. Yesterday was the first day I've had it again since before December(my wls).

True dat! When I was younger (in my 20s) I would ride my stationary bike within 30 minutes of eating. I tried to do it two x/day for an hour each time. Those bike seats are not at all nice to our behinds!! My tailbone protested loudly.

we are thinking Ken had a stroke last week he is losing movement in his whole right side he would not go to any ER yesterday he has an appointment with his VA doc tomorrow

i did not get him to go to the ER but if it was a stroke it happened Sunday before last when we thought he had a huge migraine that imetrex did nothing for. i wrote the symptoms down and will tell them to his VA doc tomorrow but honestly i do not see them doing anything for him thank you so much for your thought and candles keep them coming maybe we can get something done and minimize whatever damage there is
have you guys been on FB lately?
Deb! OMG! Can you insist on CT/MRI/Pet Scan? His memory has been going and now these other symptoms... you will need this documentation for applying for disability with SS anyway. Praying you will get a good doctor tomorrow.

Like you all, Chewie and Sue, it has turned cold and wet here. Talk of snow this evening. Hysterical to me. What an interesting spring. I am really enjoying this erratic weather especially after the endless sameness of drought days of a year ago.

I just read a very interesting article about how the old ways of calculating caloric content of food may be incorrect. It has to do with cooked foods providing more energy and calories than the same food in raw form. Very interesting. Don't know if I can post the link here or not but the author of the article may come up if you do an online search for Richard Wrangham. I came across the link on another thread.

IDK but seems to me raw food would be providing more energy than cooked
cooking changes the chemical composition and destroys nutrients

Deb, apparently what happens is that cooking breaks down compounds, sometimes proteins, so the body is actually able to make use of them which it can't get to in some raw foods. Also, since cooking has broken things down for the body, the body uses less energy to process the food. The thinking is that this is why we weigh more on cooked foods than on raw foods. Takes less energy to digest the cooked food but we may be eating the same amount and therefore we can gain weight. He and some grad students are doing more research into this. I think he is thinking that we need two different calorie charts, one for raw foods and one for cooked foods.

Deb--praying for Ken(and you!) I don't know what is causing the numbness in my foot and bottom. My left thigh also was giving me that weird pain/numbness I used to get when I was over 70 lbs heavier and stood too long. Today I am going to wear sneakers and see if that helps. Maybe tweaking the sciatica nerve ? Try putting some extra cushioning on your seat. This is what happened to me when I was using the treadmill - that weird numbness. You're doing great though - good for you.

Deb - are you making a list of things you have observed with Ken? Make yourself a copy - and tell them to put one in his file, just so there is no misunderstandings about what you see happening. Do you go in with Ken when he sees the doc? Sometimes these guys won't speak up (doc knows best etc). We women are much more verbal about explaining things I think. I hope you get a good doc tomorrow - one that really sees/hears what you and Ken say. I hate this for you so much.

Now - what kind of celebration shall we have when you hit the big 50,000 post..........that is something else. Lynn is so right - you are such a help for everyone you know on these threads. Always willing to search for something, post pictures, videos. Everyone - put on your thinking caps................I can't do icons on here - I'm a real nerd when it comes to computers. Amazing that I can find my way back on here.

Hugs Deb...........Linda

Ok Ladies,

We like slaw - but I'm getting tired of the mayo/vinegar/milk/sugar combo. Give me some of your recipes of slaw dressing..............Want to try some other flavors, etc. Help me out here. Thanks.
