I watched the documentary Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead on Netflix and was inspired to start a juice fast to jump start my weight loss.
I bought a Big Boss masticating slow juicer and a week's worth of organic vegetables/fruits and started on Tuesday.
RESULTS SO FAR
04/25/2013 – Thursday – day #3
Weight 348 (56.2) [down 8.8 pounds]
OBSERVATION: BIPAP 90% pressure down to 16/14 last night from 20.2/17.3 the 7-day average. AND 19.7/17.1 for the 30-day average; but AHI up to 1.2 from 0.9 for the 7-day average and 0.7 for the 30-day average. Feel this might be due to decreased water retention/swelling/inflammation?

I don't know much about juice fasts but I think they are out of the realm of low carb. Juice is primarily carbohydrate/fructose so I don't think you will ever get into ketosis to burn fat and this is the main point of eating a LC diet. You'll also be missing proteins and fats, key nutrients for a LC diet. It seems to me that a juice fast is contradictory to low carb.
I wish I could be more supportive of your fast but I just don't know very much about the science of it. I do wish you the best of luck.
Yes, it is not low carb but it is not adversely affecting my blood sugar since it is mostly vegetable (80% vegetable/20%fruit).
I'm just giving it a shot because I have tried and failed most diets in the past.
I am on day #4 and I actually feel really good and not hungry at all. I've lost 11.4 pounds so far.
It's all freshly juiced stuff not the kind of juice you buy in the store which really does mess with your blood sugar.
I am insulin resistant and have prediabetes and I can't drink regular juice without feeling loopy, dizzy and lightheaded.
But with this vegetable juice, I don't that at all. I feel really good.
I'm going for another checkup tomorrow, so we will see what doc says.
