My goal for April is to STAY ON PLAN!!

Terri....You're not the only one who has been off-plan lately. I am among that number. I have gained back what I lost in February and March. I have sorta learned how to "maintain" but obviously haven't learned how to lose and keep it off.

Because of the new regs.....I won't be posting the Daily Meditations until I get the go-ahead from this board. I submitted the website to them for approval. Hopefully it will pass inspection as I find the meditations very sensible and helpful....but will just have to wait and see what they say. I'll let you know when I get a reply from them.

Feeling a little out of sorts this morning. Must be the carb hangover from all the chocolate over the weekend! bleh.

Went to the gym yesterday and did some weight training and abs. Still have so many probs with squats and lunges. My knees just KILL. to young to be friggin crippled. it's frustrating sometimes.

For my April goal I'm planning to be down to 173 at worst and 170 at best.

Terri, I hear you on the knees, mine are popping and clicking. Getting old sucks. On a positive note losing weight will only make my knees feel better.

Hi all!

Well, I ended March at 177.6 but that darn Easter ham and LC dessert made me retain water resulting in a 2lb gain overnight. So, yesterday I did a DD on JUDDD and drank plenty of water. As of this morning, most of the bloating is gone, but it's an UD today so will prob gain back a bit. That's OK--taking one day at a time.

April Goal: 173

03/31 - 177.6

04/01 - 179.6
04/02 - 177.8

4/1 - Did not have a 4/1, due to 36 hour turnaround
4/2 - 274.0

I walked yesterday. A lot.

In the heat of the desert sun, I walked 3.6 miles, from 1:00 until 3:00. I cabbed back from the computer shop (the case I picked up weighs 60 pounds empty - a bit more than I was prepared to carry for another 3.6 miles).

I got home around 4:00, sat for 30 minutes, and got back up and walked to the store (I was walking until 7:00)

Last month was a disappointment, but the lesson is clear - a continuation of what I learned in January...

It doesn't matter if I'm exercising like crazy, or if I go right back to my diet or anything else: If I want to lose weight, nothing less than 100% dietary compliance will suffice. A single weekend off the wagon basically kills my weight loss for a month. Conversely, when I'm eating right, exercise does help.

April, for me, has to be a month marked with absolute and unwavering compliance to the decisions I have made for myself. Only having the will to successfully execute on my own plan will yield the results I need.

Z. . .I completely agree. In order to lose weight, you have to follow the regimen. No amount of exercise is going to take the weight off if you are off plan. I'm proof. I'm trying to find my way back to the "honeymooon phase" of my weight loss.

I felt like I was a bottomless pit yesterday and I ate throughout the day. I typically do an IF until the early evening but was hungry early in the day so I ate. I thought I would see a gain today but didn't. I am guessing my body needed the extra energy. It is funny how that goes sometimes.

Librarian- You are off to a great start this month!

Z- Great job on all the walking yesterday! I can lose weight with a LC diet alone but cannot lose with exercise alone. I focus on the diet to lose and exercise to tone.

Terri- Can you look back at your food logs from when you were losing well? Perhaps there is information there that can help you get back on track with losing. I log everyday so I can see if there is a change in my food ratios (carbs, fat, cals, protein) over time.

Terri...If you have knee problems, you really shouldn't be doing squats/lunges. They REALLY aren't good even for people who have good knees. You need to find other ways to work the same muscles. You don't want to damage your knees and wind up needing knee replacements. Most ortho-surgeons won't do them on someone your age.

Frankie....You are right on both counts. (1) Losing weight will definitely help. and (2) Getting old is NOT for sissies.

Z...I've learned the same lesson. Now to put it into practice. Good luck to you too.

Terri..

I have been accepted into the Nursing program at my college YAY! and I need to get serious on becoming a fit person. I have some things that I need to pass like CPR this summer which required getting down on the floor and getting up ...haha...seriously...can you see me asking someone for hand??? Plus a physical exam.

Ask your exercise instructor for an alternative to those squats. Save your knees

Focus- You are doing great this month!

Andiand- It is good you came back in here to be accountable! You will drive yourself crazy if you always compare your loss to others, but I think at times we all do this. Your body, how you eat, your metabolism and your lifestyle are all different from everyone else so there is no way to compare a loss. Same thing with clothing. People will say they wear size "x" clothing and they weigh "y". I used to think, but I weigh "y" right now and I am two sizes bigger! Everyone has a different height and body shape and clothing sizes vary wildly. So I gave up that kind of comparison and just look at how my body is changing month to month. Compared to only myself I feel pretty good. April can be your best month ever, stick to plan and come back here for support when you need it.

Terri- I do Zumba and I am so out of shape I cannot always do all the moves or I'd pass out. So I just march in place until I can get back with the moves on the next song. I don't care how I look, I am still moving and keeping my heart rate up. I agree with Zay, talk to your instructor and see if she can give you an alternate or modified lunge that won't hurt your knees.

Zay, congrats on getting into nursing school! Getting a few pounds off now is going to really help you in school where you have to move all the time. Those few pounds from the week will drop off soon, I am glad you had a good time.

Thanks Frankie, I'm excited. I've been slowly taking the prereq's for several years.

Let me say... your dedication is commendable. Your weight loss is awesome...you guys are showing me that I really want it and work hard, consistently, I can have it too.

I have made a commitment to walking on my treadmill at a good clip (for me) and using weights while on it (one arm at a time). I've been doing this since Monday and I can't get over how much better I feel already...more agile, strong etc.
