I am not sure what is going on the last week now. I was perfectly on plan for the last week and I have gained slightly. I have had a couple of stalls in the last 9 months of a week and the famous 3 week stall at be beginning of low carb eating. I really cannot eat few calories or carbs at this point. I was hoping to up my protein because of the addition of exercise to my week, but now I am afraid to mess with anything.

What do you think about previous weight set points? I was at 178-180 for many years, but it was a long time ago, probably at least 20 years. Do you think that your body remembers those weights and doesn't like to go beyond that point? I am not sure I believe this but do wonder about it and if there is any science behind it.

Hi Frankie,
No input on the set point weight.
Your slight weight gain (or lack of loss) is from exercising. This is 100% normal. Google it...it is common. It will come back off in a week or two and you will be rewarded with great inch loss and a more toned body. Keep up the great work.

I'm so happy for you. You are doing so wonderfully.

Frankie, I kinda feel you on the set weight points. Back in 2004, I lost a bunch of weight too. my lowest point was 211, but I gained a little and stabilized about 220. Here's where, coincidentally, I have stalled. I do feel really comfortable here and It's not hard to maintain. IDK. I'm not going to quit trying, though!

Zay! I'm so glad you're there! So many have left and never came back! Hang in there. You know you can do it!

Phranquie....I hate to say it, but I think it's probably more likely menopause/your age. I NEVER had a weight problem in my life until I was 50-52. Don't remember exactly when it happened. I put on 10 lbs almost overnight for no reason. That was when Susan Powter was popular. If you remember her, she advocated low fat-high carb. My weight crept on at a rate of about 8 lbs a year for the next 10 years and then I heard about the Protein Power Plan and the rest is history. By then, my metabolism was so messed up it was unbelievable....and I have been bouncing around up and down ever since. I'm serious this time, but it's SO hard. I have to keep my calories VERY low (like you). If I eat over 1000 calories/day I don't lose anything and I can put a week's loss back on in just one or two "normal" meals. It's SO frustrating.

Another possibility for you is the exercise. You are probably building muscle and that weighs more than fat. Are your clothes getting tighter? If not, then it's probably the muscle and it's nothing to worry about. How much protein do you get a day? You don't want to get too little, but of course, you don't want too much either. When my daughter was prepping for bypass surgery, the doc had her do "just protein shakes" for one month pre-op. He told her to be sure to get 69 grams of protein in every day, which she did. I've read that that's a good number to shoot for to stay healthy whether or not you are pre-op.

Hello all. Thanks Terri. I feel at home here.
I forgot to weigh this morning! haha. I'm so used to not weighing. Not gonna weigh because I drank a ton.
I was on plan yesterday and had 953 calories and under 100 carbs...so I'm good. I hope my weigh in tomorrow shows.

Have a wonderful day DW'ers!!

((hugs))

Nothing much new here today. I almost blew off zumba but I committed to do it 3 times a week so I went. It really kicked my butt tonight and I am drained.

Judy- My clothes are not really looser but I also lose weight in places I cannot measure. Hopefully I am losing inches in those spots right now. I remember Susan Powter and her platinum crewcut! I know that I have a very slow metabolism and thyroid issues and getting older and being in menopause adds to it. Thanks for the support. I can gain super easy too, like you just a couple of "normal" meals and I can pack it on. I finally realized that I just cannot eat like other people if I want to be healthy and not obese. It sucks but evidently my body just does not need a lot to function.

Terri- I wish I was comfortable where I am right now, but I am not. Especially with having been morbidly obese for many years I have lots of hanging skin starting to develop and it looks really bad. So I am trying to lose steadily so that I can have surgery to remove skin. It is hot here in the summer and I'd like to wear shorts and sleeveless top next year.

Zay- Good job sticking to your plan.

Z. . .I was wondering where you've been!

Frankie, I feel you. I'm almost 52, menopause, thyroid meds, the whole 9 yards. It is tough. I can't eat like most people either. When they find out I only eat one time a day, I get the lecture of how bad it is for me. . blah blah blah. **rolls eyes** Good for you for staying motivated to your goal. Plastic surgery would be a GREAT goal to shoot for.

Right now, I'm settling keeping the weight off. I NEVER EVER EVER want to feel that pain EVER EVER EVER again.

CeeCee. Hang in there! Don't leave Twoterville!

Frankie....Good for you sticking to the Zumba class. I need to get back to going to the gym and riding a bike or walking. It does help. If nothing else, it gets me out and about. I have been on thyroid meds since I was 26....long since been through menopause (even though I STILL have hot flashes) and at my age that's ridiculous. Being retired doesn't help. I used to have an office job so I sat a lot for years...especially when my kids were grown so I didn't have to chase them anymore. Now that I'm retired I sit even more...especially in the winter.

Terri....I hear ya. One of the reasons I want to get where you are is if I'm below 215-220 I don't have the lower back pain I have at this weight. Don't you just hate it when people say, "You don't eat enough! Your body will go into starvation mode" I always ask them, "Then why is it that people starve to death...by losing ALL their weight when on a starvation diet?" No one has been able to answer that yet. It might not be "healthy" to eat just once a day IF you are eating low-fat/high-carb, but if you are getting adequate protein and are smart enough to take the necessary supplements you WILL not starve to death!!

Hang in there, everybody....congrats to the losers.

Judy- I am a total couch potato myself. When I was younger I was athletic but as I got older (and fatter) I moved less. I do not have a 9-5 job so I spend a lot of time at home and can get very unmotivated. I am taking the zumba to just get going and to be able to have more stamina for this summer when I want to travel a bit. I have to force myself to go, but after the class I always feel good for doing it. I have signed up to take some Barre classes to gain some muscle that I am sure I have lost with the fat. I'll see how that goes getting motivated for two different classes.

Terri- I hear ya on all points. Especially the eating once a day which I like do do with IF. Isn't it funny how people feel free to pipe in on how we eat as we try to do something to lose weight? It is like once we admit we need to lose weight people all of a sudden are all concerned for our health. I feel like telling them that if I eat like them I will wind up morbidly obese again. I have learned to say I am just eating less and cutting out sugars and tell them my doc supports my way of eating. If I go into too much more detail than that it opens the doors for comments I just don't want to hear. That is why this board is so important to me because even though we are all on different plans and are doing different things you all get it!

Shannon- Yup, hang in there girl!

I'm back!

April goal: 225

4/1: DNW
4/2: 230.2
4/3: 230.2 Meh
4/4-4/17: DNW
4/18: 232.1

I'm not surprised. I really let stress (both work and personal) get the best of me this month. Tax season is over now, so I have time to deal with the personal stress and I am back on plan!!!!

Hey gals and guy...hope you are having a good day today.

I'm frustrated but going to just keep on trying. I did well but then binged on high calorie stuff for a couple of days. I think its over and back on track. Sorry.

I'm at 297 today.
