I have been having bad dizzy spells this week so I have been very laid back and not doing much physically. I went to my Zumba class on Tuesday and ended up falling down and I knocked into someone else and made her fall down too. I felt horrible and luckily she is ok, but I just cannot risk doing that again which sucks because I was really starting to enjoy the class.

Shannon- I hope you have a great time on vacation. I think Mary has given some great advice on how to support your eating plan while at someone's house. I say "I have difficulty eating sugars" and I think most people understand sugar is not great for you but they have no idea how pervasive it is in the standard diet. People do not get that bread and pasta are sugar. Hold tight and you'll come through okay.

Michelle- I have days where I have crazy strong head hunger and it can happen if I feel deprived. So I can imagine seeing sugary things at work would set off your cravings. I actually think you did the right thing eating more calories of LC foods. That slight jump in your weight will be easier to get off than if you had consumed some sugar laden food and then have to fight the physiological as well as the psychological cravings for sugar.

Snacks: sf jello, 1 diet coke
32 oz of water in so far
Supper: remains undecided ATM...lol

I just have to share this with you ladies. I decided to quit my Coke Zeros because it was getting out of control and I was getting awful cravings. I also decided at the same time that I would try to drink 3/4-1 gallon of liquid(tea, lemon water) per day. Not only have my cravings went away, but my weight loss has been awesome the last week or so. I usually average about one pound loss per week. I am averaging two pounds now. I don't even miss the soda. I juice a whole lemon, put it in a two quart pitcher, fill it with water and liquid stevia. It makes great lemonade.

I hope all you mothers had a fabulous day today.

Michele- What a great surprise! I hope you had a wonderful time with your son.

Cfine- Wow, that is a good thing to know about the soft drinks. I still drink some caffeine free diet coke a couple of days a week. It does not give me cravings at all. I don't think it has slowed me but who knows, maybe it has. It might be worth trying to not drink it for a week or two.

Michele- I sent this is a PM to someone recently about what I eat:

Right now the last week or two I am now averaging 750-800 calories a day and between 40-50 carbs a day. My goal now is to stay at an average of 800 calories and between 40-60 carbs a day. On some occasions I will go up to 100 carbs or as low as 15 carbs other days. I need to get my protein up as I know I am just not eating enough and am working on this. I aim to get 80-85 grams of protein. I tend to eat the same things for a while, then switch to a few new things for a while. I eat fairly simple even when we go out. Unlike most low carbers I do look for leaner less fatty meats most of the time (except ribeyes and bacon). When I have fat I want it to taste great. I think that other than trying to reduce my carbs I am really eating very small meals, usually 150-200 calories at a meal. This was hard for me to wrap my mind around at first but now I am used to it. I weigh and measure and log in everything, this is crucial for me as my portions would be much more if I did not do this. Since I eat the same things over and over I have most things in my food journal so they are easy to bring up.

Here are the things I eat:
Gyros meat: usually 2oz-4oz at a time
Shrimp, Sauteed Usually under 3oz
Hebrew National 97% Fat Free Hotdogs (only 45 cals)
Laughng Cow Light cheese wedges (only 35 cals)
Salmon 3oz
Talipia 3oz
Ham usually 2-3oz
Fajita Beef usually 2oz
Deli Turkey usually 2-3oz
Bacon 2oz
Grilled Chicken usually 2oz
Beef Jerky (Jack Links) 1-2oz
Chicken Salad
Grilled Cheeseburger: One is usually a couple of meals for me.
Salads
Avocados
Tomatoes
Onions
Green Beans
Asparagus
Dannon Light and Fit Greek Yogurt or Carbmaster from Kroger (although I have not had any in a while)
Jello SF Pudding Cups if I really need chocolate, but have not had one in a really long time.
Detour (low sugar) Protein Bars 15g of protein and 170 cal but they are 15carbs. I eat these when I am low on protein.

I used to eat Miracle Noodle Shiratke noodles which are an acquired taste and they must be rinsed well and pan dried very well before adding sauces, but they do take on the flavor of the sauce they are in. If you feel like you need bulk these are the best to give you the full feeling and yet are no calories, no carbs. I have not had these in a really long time.

I like to saute zucchini, mushrooms, yellow squash and onions in a batch and will eat this mixture with proteins.

I get chicken sausages at Sam's and saute or grill them. I also get Aidell's Chicken meatballs from Sams. I think eating fish, chicken and turkey where possible helps keeps my calories lower but does not sacrifice taste. If I want fat, I'll add in some cheese as this gives texture and flavor.

I eat Mission LC tortillas, usually open faced and pile on the veggies and protein. I also get "Moon Pops" also called miracle pops in other areas. They are at one Kroger in my area and are like a tortilla sized thin rice cake. These are good when I need crunch. I like with hummus or with Laughing cow cheese. 16 calories and 3-4 carbs.

I have been eating popcorn some. This can be a danger area for me as I am a snacker and have tried to stop this habit. I will eat Orville Reddenbachers Smart Pop Kettle Corn in the single serve bags.

When I go out I eat maybe 1/3 of what is on my plate. If I feel tempted to eat more, I get a to go box when the food comes and put the portion I want to save for later in the box immediately. I am trying to adjust my brain to not want so much food. Having been doing this for the last 9 months it is finally working and I look at a plate of food and see I don't need to eat it all. At home I eat of of very small plates.

If I am not hungry I do not eat. If I get hungry before I think it is time, I drink something. I drink diet coke, crystal light and Ocean Spray Diet Cranberry juice diluted down a good bit (only 5 calories for 8oz).

For quite a while I was only eating in the evening, intermittent fasting. I might eat between 4pm-9pm getting 2 meals in. Right now I have been at home and not going out much and this is much harder to do when I am not busy and not feeling well. The less busy I am the more focused on food I am. So I have been eating several small meals throughout the day.

For exercise I was doing Zumba 3x a week for the last 6 weeks. But after I fell down last week I have stopped all exercise until I am not having the dizzy episodes. I have a new bike I really want to try out but feel that is too dangerous right now. I feel that exercise is to help my cardiovascular system and stamina and to tone my muscles. I don't exercise to lose weight.

Michele- I don't think most people would need to be as low in calories as I am. I have lost weight previously and I only lose if I am under about 850 calories. If I am eating low calorie and high carb I lose very slow. So the combination of low calorie and lower/moderate carb is what my body likes. It is just part of my metabolism and I am used to it. If I was hungry all the time that would be another thing, but I am not and my body does well at this level.

I am not counting calories now, but I am guessing I am closer to Michele.
One of these weeks I am going to start doing a better job of tracking.

Hello Ladies! We are getting into the home stretch of our challenge....Man time flies by way too fast sometimes! Now my goal is to just get back to the 294 I saw on the scale 2 weeks ago! If not , its all good because my main goal for this challenge was to get out of the 300's and I have accomplished that!

I have 7.4lbs to get to the challenge goal. If I work really hard I think I might make it by the 31st, but not so sure about Memorial Day. As I would expect the closer I inch toward goal the slower the weight is coming off even though I have 42lbs left to lose.

I'm still on the challenge.
1. No drinking . . .
2. Eat low carb -- I am doing ok here, still fine-tuning, my clothes are looser and I am feeling good about that
3. Moderate exercise . . . still not doing much structured but I am working a lot in the yard so for now I'll count it.

Edit: no drinking alcohol. As soon as I finish a bit of almond milk and kefir, I am going to limit my liquids to water and coffee and iced tea, both without sweeteners

Good going Bella and Michelle.

I have been away at a retreat this weekend restoring my spiritual and emotional sanity all the whie being around 100 other folks who do the same food plan as myself. The food served was all very beautiful and supportive, nothing that I had to say 'no thank you' to. We were all weighing and measuring our food. I need to get up and head to the chapel for a morning Buddhist meditation. The retreat is set at a campground in the woods of Eastern Connecticut. We have single or double rooms in heated cottages. We have had hikes, crafts, yoga, raffles, discussions of the 12 promises of living the program. It is so relaxing and rejuvenating. I still have a way to go spiritually, progress not perfection. We begin and end each session with the Serenity Prayer. I am abstinent from food addiction today, grateful and committed to this way of life, inspired and ready to tackle what life brings. I keep food in one hand and life in the other and don't clap. Today I don't need to eat over the problems in my life today, as eating will not solve the problem. It will just create an additional problem. Today I trust God has a plan for each of us and I just need to get out of the way and let the plan unfold. My job is to take the next right action in my life. Right now, I need to get up, pray, get dressed and go for a walk. Then meditate and have breakfast at 8. Life is so simple when broken down into its basic components.

Have a great week.

Ribs sound wonderful. Can you share a recipe? I am hopinig it's simple!
I buy most of my meat straight from farmers and ribs are typically inexpensive.
I don't have any but can get an order in. Do you do beef or pork or both?

We got a nice rain overnight which was needed. Could have done without the on the ground tornado . . . it was in my county but on the other side from me. I haven't checked the news, sure hoping there wasn't much damage.

Gosh I admire your fortitude about cleaning . . . . I would be embarrassed to have anyone come inside right now! My husband is gone for a few days, so I thought I might vacuum before he returns midweek . . . we will see, though. I keep up with dishes, laundry, bathrooms, counters, but floors just never make it to the top of my list. Priorities!!

Hello all. I got a good start on some spring cleaning last week and boy did my hamstrings and thighs hurt from all the beding and squatting.

Mary- Your retreat sounds very peaceful and relaxing. I am glad you have a group of likeminded people to commune with.

Bella- Great job on sticking to your plan. The looser clothes sure are good feedback that you are doing it right! I love pork ribs but have never made them myself as there are two great places I go to get them that are without sauce on them so they're great for LC. We had a bunch of tornados in the area one night last week. When the sirens went off in my neighborhood I grabbed the dogs, a book, pair of shoes, flashlight, cell phone, purse and laptop and ran to the bathroom and hung out for an hour until the sirens ended. The joy of living in Tornado Alley.

Bella: I just did a web search for a sugar free or low carb BBQ rub and then did the same with the sauce......I rubbed the rack with the mixture then cut it into pieces to fit in the crockpot....then let it cook on low all day..like 8 hrs...you can add the BBQ sauce really whenever you want to....I like to add some 1/2 way through cooking and then a little more like 1/2 hr before serving.

Frankie: love your new picture! So pretty skinny

Mary: sounds like a nice retreat!

Hi everyone. Back from vacation which was very relaxing. Was able to stick to my plan about 60% of the time and managed to only gain 1 lb. which I'm pretty pleased with. AND I didn't need the seat belt extender on the plane Very happy about that!

Hard to get back into daily life today after a week or so off
