Melinda Sue...........hope you have the greatest time with dh on your trip to Vegas. The worst part for me is just the doing of it. Once I'm on my way, I'm good to go. Just think - you'll get a great nap in. Hmm - I had to stay awake to make sure my dh didn't fall asleep while driving. 80 hours a week to work is a heavy load - just knowing it's good for him to get a break makes you feel better too, right? Didn't you have TOM following you the last time you went? Geesh..........poor thing.

Lots of luck on reading up and finding answers. There really isn't any that I can see - it's a matter of trying to keep it at bay for as long as possible. There is no cure. Finding a doctor that even considers it is difficult too from what I've read - they tend to think in terms of edema. It is so much more than that. They say right now - the best is to find a lymphedema specialist - the more knowledgeable they are the better - more so than the doctor.

I've yet to get back in to see the specialist - too many other things right now for me to deal with it. But - I know I have to and soon. Good luck to your sister - will be interested in how she does and what she is experiencing.

Linda

I talked with her a bit ago as well. They feel hers is genetic. She is a nurse and has figured she might have it for a while. This time she decided to go in when the swelling just wouldn't go down. She is getting massages and they are hooking her up to a compression machine. She says it actually feels good. Her insurance covers this machine so they delivered one to her house today. She is supposed to do it everyday for the rest of her life! Eek! Interestingly, they told her she is not to do more than 15 mins worth of exercise a day as exercise aggravates lymphadema. I know this is kinda new for her especially the 2 hours a day going to therapy right now-- and she had a mammogram today to boot! This is going to take quite a bit of getting used to. She goes nonstop. Her schedule makes mine look like I do nothing!LOL

Hi. Was lcf down for a while? I tried to get on and it didn't let me.

I have the beef simmering in the bloody mary sauce in the dutch oven in the oven. It took me about an hour to season and brown all the meat, do all the dishes and get the sauce together. I DID NOT feel like doing it but I did and I'm glad because dh is looking forward to it. He didn't even get a lunch break today and is getting burned out.

I'm tired today. I think the weekend caught up with me or something---probably just the stress of looking for that stupid title that we never even had.

Lony--congrats on getting your laundry done.

Linda--we are going to owe too on taxes so no hurry here.

KC--that's good your sister can have her own machine. That should help.

Melinda---oh, the Carnegie deli??? I"m so jealous. I've been to the one in New York City right by Rockefeller ice rink. I used to go into the city shopping for the day with girlfriends a couple times a year. That was when I had a life and friends. LOL

lucky...years ago I went for a MRI. They no more than got me in and I went nuts. I couldn't take it. A coffin is just what I thought of. I kid you not I cried for 3 days. They ended up sending me over for an open MRI a few days later. I had no problem with that kind.

Chewie....question on the coconut cake once again. In the past I have made a lay down type of full bodied Easter bunny cake for the kids. Is there any reason it wouldn't work with this coconut cake? I'm thinking I could/would cut it out first before putting the liquid over the cake. What do you think?

Also.....have you or anyone here ever made this cake? I was debating on this one instead of the coconut one. I thought the kids would like this one.

Sue if you are going to cut out the cake I would skip the liquid. The crust on the edge is what keeps the cake in shape when you cover it with a liquid. What you would more than likely end up with is a giant pile of mush.

Mary good job on sticking with your eating plan!! Hope you are rewarded with some loose clothes.

Melinda try to forget about your troubles for awhile and just let loose and have some fun! Enjoy that deli food.

Our tax refund was here in early February and sitting in the bank. I would probably wait until the last minute if we had to pay.

Deb are you and Steven actively looking for work? How far away is that UPS center I posted about a couple of months ago? They said they were hiring something like 1200 people IIRC. Maybe you can think of something a little different than a regular job. Maybe offering services to someone? Like housekeeping, pet sitting/walking, organizational stuff. Selling cakes!

Lucky I hope your appointment on Thursday goes well.

I get off work at 0700 then I have a doctor appointment at 0800. Then I get to go home and start my weekend.

Good morning sunshines. Looks like it is going to be another beautiful day.

According to my fit bit I took 7,836 steps yesterday! 3.95 miles. I just need to keep up that pace.

Mona enjoy your weekend!

Good morning Miss. Sue.

Today I am headed to the big city to go out for lunch and get a manicure with my sweet friend. She works for the school district and is on spring break. We were going to drive to billings but decided it was not worth the drive when we both just wanted to hang out with each other.

I have not made that strawb cake. I think if you cut the cake and then poured on the liquid and frosted it, it will be fine. I would definitely put foil under your cake edges to keep them clean. Then after frosting, pull them out.
