100+ weight loss?

Has anyone on these boards lost over 100 lbs and kept it off by eating LC? If so, what are some tips to keep going and that helped you stay on track?

In my case, it was knowing myself, in the sense that I CANNOT CHEAT. I can so easily get off track if I allow myself to eat what I know I shouldn't. I need to just plug along and not insist my food be entertaining.

I also eat meat, which I don't really like much. It just works for my body.

And I need to eat fairly plainly. When I make casseroles or other fancy dishes, I really tend to eat too much. Even when something is right for my WOE, if I find I can't control the portions easily I just don't have it around.

I agree with Ravenrose. If I entertain the thought that I can have just one bite or a little of this or that, for me it is a slippery slope. Two years ago, after maintaining for 6 years I thought I could handle eating without measuring my portions. In 7 weeks, I gained back 32 lbs. It took about 7 months to lose it. I felt lousy when I was out there eating again and know I don't want to live that kind of life.

Tell us about your challenges with weight.

I have been maintaining my loss for almost 2 years by basically eating exactly the same as when I got to goal--I count carbs and calories, remaining very low carb, and I eat simple whole foods--meat, fish, eggs, veggies.

I allow myself the occasional 'indulgence'--some peanut or almond butter or coconut butter, often made into a microwave 'muffin,' but I find that once I 'open the door,' I tend to overeat--and then have to engage in 'damage control.'

I know now that my relationship with food is dysfunctional from a lifetime of morbid obesity, so, like an addict, I regard myself as 'recovering' and just take it one day at a time.

Since I'm now more fit and healthier (at age 71) than ever in my life, maintaining my weight loss is a very high priority for me. I don't regard my WOE as any form of 'deprivation.' It's a process of making healthy choices for myself.

Thanks guys. I'll definitely look out for the "slippery slope" and thanks for the tips.
My challenges, well, I lost 65 lbs in the past doing WW, but got to 170, then was eating so little food and exercising so much, that I quit losing. (i'm 5'3") I was no where near a healthy range for this height. When I talked to the WW leader, all she said was that I must be eating too much, to cut back. I was starving my self and not getting any results. I'm so worried that that will happen again. I really can't picture myself at what they say my healthy weight should be. I haven't weight that since high school. I do hope to get there, but my losses are extremely slow right now. Haven't lost anything in 2 weeks. but I will keep going even if I don't lose another lb. I'm already way better off than I was last July! even if I'm not at "goal" Thanks for the input and tips!
