Back to what worked for me 8 yrs ago!
It's been many years and many failed other diets since I have been on a low carb woe.....Back then I lost 80 lbs on Atkins...I have gained 55lbs of that back...UGH! So here I go again!
|
Ditto! Your story is almost exactly like mine, although I gained ALL my original low carb weight back and then some. We'll do it again, though!
|
Welcome--looking forwarding to reading your posts...:hiya:

|
:welcome:
Glad you found your way back. As far as falling off the wagon and gaining weight back... Been there, done that! |
Welcome back Michele. Remember the first couple of weeks back on LC eating can be difficult but it gets so much easier once you get going.
|
Thanks Frankie.....Im doing good so far....a little tired today but I havent been hungry much at all :)
|
Ditto here too...
Lost 100+ pounds 2007/2008...gained it all back...here I go again. I am committed to do this! Tired of being tired...and hurting all the time (knees, hips, feet...) Hello to everyone! :shake: |
Welcome back Denise! We can do this...We know...We have done it before :D
|
Had a disappointing first week weigh in.....only lost 1.2 lbs....so frustrating when you have 150 lbs to lose :( Oh well...hopefully next week will be better! 1 lb at a time !
|
Focus on eating clean and try not to look at the scale too much. Also make sure you take measurements so later when the scale doesn't move for a while (this is inevitable) then you can see the inches you are losing. Hang int here, it does work.

I'm thinking I will go back to what I know works for me ( Atkins) I'm currently trying the Paleo plan and there just isn't the right kind of variety for me. :dunno:

I too was looking at the Paleo WOE...but I like my dairy and other things. I do use some of the Paleo recipes....to assist with some variety. I currently try to eat organic whole foods only....I stay away from any and all processed foods (which is what drew me to the Paleo philosophy). I do not use processed sugars in my family's foods...sucanat, honey, maple syrup, etc are what I use. I grind my own flour...to ensure they are getting the most nutrition from it. The first time I went LC...I utilized all of their processed products (shakes, candy, snacks, etc). And yes...I lost weight...but those products didn't make me feel very well. So this time around....I'm trying something different...and eating a more 'clean' wholefoods diet. Congrats on losing the weight. Don't get discouraged...a pound lost is a pound lost :) right? Drink lots and lots of water!! I find it is helping me quite a bit. WE CAN DO THIS!! :shake: |
Went to SAMs today and stocked up on Atkins friendly foods....bacon, eggs, butter, cream cheese, half & half ,mushrooms, brussel sprouts and Atkins meal bars and snack bars for those times I may need their convenience :) Freezer is already well supplied with meat and fridge full of water and veggies....I think I am good to go for now

Ok today is the 2 week mark that I started the Paleo plan...switched totally over to Atkins 3 days ago...only down 3 lbs but its that time of the month so Im hoping once that leaves it will take a few pounds with it! Im not going to let that discourage me though....I feel SO much better...minimal joint pain and hardly any stomach issues :D I have only measured my waist and have lost almost an inch there :D Carry on!

It's amazing that even when the weight loss slows down...inches are still lost...a great motivator. Love that about LC!:) |
I was here when you were here. What made it different when I switched from Atkins to a more structured Low carb approach in 2003 was that I knew there was no other way. I knew I would die if I kept doing what I was doing...dieting and binging...losing and regaining...it almost got me again in 2011 when I picked up and gained 32 lbs in 7 weeks. It scared me silly. Panic attacks came back with a swiftness that screamed at me. Today, i am grateful to follow a low carb way of eating and have a support system both here and in support mtgs that are second to none. I can't do this alone. Thanks for being there!
|
Thanks for the support! Mary you are an inspiration...I just need to learn that it doesnt come off near as easy or as fast as it goes on....The scale just isnt moving for me....I do notice my clothes getting looser though....Im thinking Im eating too much salt in the form or pepperoni and pork rinds  Im not going to give up!
|
I hate to say "me too" to the OP but ... I lost 101 about 10 years ago, fell out of this WOE roughly 8 years ago. Slowly put most of it back on. But, I'm back! Doing my pre-WOE changing now (just bought 1/4 cow from a local farm, going to pick it up shortly, planning on hitting BJs Wednesday.
|
:welcome: back Dave.....we can do it!
|
Welcome back everybody!
|
Can I jump in and join you ladies? As you can see, I have a LONG way to go. I lost it all on Atkins about 20 years ago, and here I go again. I started 4 days ago, and I'm off to a great start, but I know I'm going to need so much help to keep going! And hopefully I can give you some help too.
|
:welcome: Mthergoos......We are all in the same boat! We can lean on each other and get r done! :D
|
Wow...it is wonderful to see everyone! Looks like we are pretty much in the same boat!
Been there...done that...Now I'm back with a vengance!! LOL I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone....:shake: .... and will give support whenever needed :) I am truly committed this time....to become a healthier person for myself and my family. :welcome: everyone! It is a pleasure to meet'cha! :jumpjoy: PS: I am trying to eat non-processed whole foods only this time around...which has been working fine. I had a brief  moment...and purchased and ate some pork rinds (I remember munching on them the last time I was LC)...and I gained a 1/2 pound! I've managed to lose the 1/2 pound....but I think my initial goal of eating whole foods only will have to do. I'm guessing it was the salt in them that affected me....so I will definitely have to keep that in mind. Things that DIDN'T affect me before...seem to be affecting me now ~~ probably the age/metabolism thing. :dunno: Anywho.....Wishing everyone a WONDERFUL LC DAY!!:kicking: |
Good Morning Everyone!! :hiya: I just wanted to stop in real quick and see how everybody is doing today?
I'm thrilled with how my first week is going, but I know it won't keep dropping that fast, and I'm really trying to keep in mind that the scale isn't the only way to measure progress. I promised myself I wasn't going to be a slave to the scale, because a bad number will ruin my whole day, but here I am weighing myself every darn morning again! :dunno: Looking forward to hearing how everybody is doing today! |

I know exactly how you feel....I have to resist the urge to check my progress every morning....I jump on every 3 days or so....especially if I want to see if an item has affected my losing (eg: pork rinds). The wierd thing is....I can actually FEEL what the scale is going to say...I know, right...I know...WEIRD ...but its true...some days I feel "thinner" than others...and the scale always reflects a loss. On the day I had a 1/2 pound gain...I felt "bloated"...and I was not surprised to see the gain. I think I am FINALLY getting in tune with my body....I listen when I'm satisfied, and when I should stop eating, I do. I'm hoping to continue "listening" to my body....'cause it seems to work (for me anyway :D). Don't let the scale get'cha down....even when it doesn't move....sometimes you body is still losing inches (we all have had that happen! ;)) |
Hi Denise,
Getting in tune with your body is a HUGE victory in itself! :jumpjoy: I've always felt like if I was in tune with my body, or paying attention to what I was doing to it, I never would have gotten this heavy. Instead, I usually ignore it as much as possible! :o I know what you mean though, I feel a little bit thinner each morning. Just a smidge, but I can feel it, so regardless of what the scale may or may not show, I think we're definitely on the right path! :jumpjoy: |
Hi All:
As you can see by my stats, I'm a B.I.G. girl and I, too, have lost 100's of pounds, only to gain them back. This time, I can't mess around. I'm almost 42, I can't get pregnant (likely due to weight) and if I don't lose 100lbs, I have NO CHANCE of having Invitro Fertilization (clinics in Canada have weight restrictions). I am dedicated to blogging my feelings and food consumption and so far, I've blogged for 135 days straight and lost 35lbs. I have noticed that the weight is coming off slower than ever before, so it may be time for me to get back to my swimming regime (I used to swim 3 hours a week). SO, even though your weight loss is slow, at least you're losing! |
