35 pounds is GREAT!! Congratulations!!

I know that after I turned 40, I'm 45 now, the weight started coming off MUCH slower! However, a couple of months ago, my doctor started me on thyroid medication, and so far I've dropped almost 12 pounds in just 5 days, so I'm really really hoping that maybe that will help things move along more quickly.

I know what you mean though, I feel a little bit thinner each morning. Just a smidge, but I can feel it, so regardless of what the scale may or may not show, I think we're definitely on the right path!
I feel the same way....I've ignored my body for too long....and I am finding if I just listen....things are working out great (I would eat until I was ready to bust...especially if it was a real favorite food item ~~ no more...I take a few bites...put my fork down...take a couple of more bites....put my fork down...until I feel satisfied...NOT full ~~ Wow do I feel sooooo much better after a meal.) The proteins keep me fuller...longer....So I don't snack in between meals. And I'm drinking my water...which gets rid of those FALSE hunger periods (a lot of times, it is your body telling you that you are dehydrated...not hungry).

Its nice to meet you Melle,
Congrats on your loss so far!
Great job! Yay You!!!
I know the weight is coming off slower for me now that I'm in my 40's...but I am committed to make this a WOE...to be healthier for myself and my family.
I am going to be 48 years old in a week....and I have a 7 year old son that I want to see grow up. At my present weight....I don't see that happening...plus the fact that I want to be more active with him...have fun...ride horses...etc.
I know we can all do this....

Yay it's Friday!!! Scale is still moving in the right direction....8 lbs are history!! If I could lose 2 more by Monday it will be 10 lbs for the month...that would be awesome!!! But I'm fine with the 8 if not I hope everyone is still going strong!! Happy Friday

Hey there all! Happy Friday to everyone!
Hello MtherGoos! I'm doing well...thanks so much for asking. I'm staying on plan...and getting in the LC groove.
It's going to be a busy weekend (baseball evaluation, Scout Blue and Gold lunch, etc) I plan on eating before the B&G lunch ... In the event there isn't anything for me to eat (main course is a breaded chicken dish...so I know that's out). But as long as I'm not hungry...I'll be fine

I hope everyone has a great LC evening/weekend! I will hopefully be able to check in over the weekend...in between the activities.

Denise, it sounds like a fun and full weekend! You'll do great, I know you will. It sounds like you've got a plan in place to make sure you avoid the carbs, and you can enjoy the company without having to enjoy the carbs. Let us know how it goes! Enjoy your weekend.

Hello all!
Crazy busy day....
Baseball Evaluations at 8:00 AM
Blue & Gold ceremony (then lunch) at 10:00 AM
(Lunch was the opposite of what I thought it would be...the chicken piccata was not breaded...so I was able to eat that...but they didn't have anything else I could eat Mac&chs, chic nuggets, pasta of some sort, peas&corn...no green anything So all I had was chicken...which was fine...though the people at my table looked at my 'chicken only' plate a little strangely.)
Got home....changed my clothes...put away laundry....cleaned out the chicken coop (retrieved 8 beautiful eggs while there! HELLO BREAKFAST!! )
Now, my poor ds....who has a low grade fever and cough most of this last week andwas able to finally go back to school on Friday...has low grade fever again. Poor kid is totally wiped out.
Tomorrow will be prepping meals for next week...and getting some chores done that I would have done today.
So...thankfully, I was able to stay OP today.
I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far! Enjoy

Denise, Congratulations on getting through the day so well! I hope your DS starts to feel better! It's so hard on us when they're sick and we can't do much for them.

Michele, Passing up cupcakes takes almost super human strength! LOL I'm not sure I could have done it! Good for you!!

Thank you everyone!
DS seems better this morning....weird bug that he has...fever comes and goes. When you think it's gone...it rears its ugly head.
I broke down and weighed myself. ...no loss
I feel thinner...everything is fitting better (wore a bra yesterday that I have not been able to wear in a while!) so I have no idea what's going on (Shape Shifting I guess! lOL)
Got some baby chicks yesterday....the are so cute. They'll be producing eggs end of summer....YAY!
I sure hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!
Will try to check in later...if my work day isn't too crazy.

Denise, don't let the scale discourage you. I know that's easier said than done, but sometimes they're so tempermental. You're seeing the difference in your clothes, so keep doing what you're doing!

I've never had fresh eggs! Do they taste different?

Michele, 10 pounds in one month is AWESOME!! KUTGW!!

No loss for me today, but that's okay. I'll keep plugging away and hope for one tomorrow!

Thank you for the words of encouragement....I'm staying optimistic...it just would be nice to see the numbers reflect my staying on plan. But all come together....I am confident
DS and I took a brisk walk yesterday....on our hilly country roads....It was a nice little workout...I really is a nice boost to the spirit to walk and enjoy God's beauty! Spring will be here before we know it....and let me tell you...I am surely ready!
Fresh eggs do taste and LOOK different from store purchased eggs. There are a lot of reasons why....mainly, our chickens live happy lives....foraging and free ranging in the fresh air and sunshine. Most store purchased eggs are very watery when you crack them open...and the yolks are a pale yellow. A farm fresh egg....is not watery...the yolk is usually a bright orange color...and will sit up high on the egg whites. The taste is....hmmmm....."eggier"....I don't know how to explain it...but it definitely has more "flavor" than the store bought egg. (side note: prior to me getting chickens...my DH thought I was CRAZY when I told him there was a difference between store bought and farm fresh eggs! Until he saw and tasted....he will never go back
As a matter of fact, when I lost most of my flock last year to a predator....it was he who insisted I get more, because he could not imagine NOT having his fresh eggs!
So...yes...IMHO...there is a definite difference between the two.
A side note: Mother Earth News conducted a study comparing commercial hen eggs to free range hen eggs, concluded that the Free Range fresh eggs have
• 1/3 less cholesterol
• 1/4 less saturated fat
• 2/3 more vitamin A
• 2 times more omega-3 fatty acids
• 3 times more vitamin E
• 7 times more beta carotene
I'll tell you....I go through a LOT of eggs every week. Between me eating them every morning....plus the baking and cooking that I do for the family....it sure is nice having my own little egg production in my back yard
I hope to have bees (honey) and milk goats in the near future...for our milk and cheese needs.
Again....I've blabbered on and on... sorry
Wishing everyone a wonderful LC day!!

Denise, I'm experiencing day 2 of the scale not really moving for me, so I totally understand your frustration. I know I'm 100% on plan, so it's got to just be a bump in the road. I'm going to ride it out and hope for a big "Whoosh!" soon.

The eggs sound amazing! I may have to see if anybody around here sells any fresh eggs!

We'll ride the storm out together. The scales will need to budge eventually
I did use a ketosis stick when I got home today (just to be sure)...and I'm still in ketosis. So a waiting game it will be.
If you want to find local farms to purchase eggs, produce, cheese, etc...try looking up LOCALHARVEST dot ORG. I hope that helps . (Or maybe your local CRAIGSLIST will have someone close by who sells eggs). I'd love to hear your thoughts on the differences.

Good Morning Ladies! Hoping everyone is well!
I did a silly thing this morning....I stepped on the scale AFTER I had had 2 large cups of coffee and my breakfast of scrambled eggs. It told me I had GAINED 1.5 pounds!! UGH!
Without being TMI...I had been a little constipated the last couple of days....(I take ground flax or soaked chia seeds every day...to keep things moving along). And after having a "good morning"....I enthusiastically stepped on the scale.
I am hoping it was because I had had my breakfast/coffee already. I'm trying to not get discouraged....but heck...I've stuck to this plan like glue.
I'm going to look at my meal plan a tracker to see how it looks...I have a feeling that I'll be told that I'm not eating enough...(but I am not going to force myself to eat more...this is a behavior that I'm trying to change about myself ~~ To only eat until I'm satisfied.). I'm still sticking to it....just a little aggravated. I know I'm still in ketosis....I tested yesterday when I got home.....so we'll see on Tuesday AM (my official weighing day)...and will step back an punt at that point.
Wishing everyone a wonder LC day!

Good Morning Denise! Trust me, I feel your pain! The scale hasn't moved for me in 4 days now!

I'm 100% on plan. I'm mostly eating eggs, tuna, and little mayo and cheese. I'm drinking tons of water. I know I'm in Ketosis. I'm not hungry at all and I have the yucky "ketosis breath". LOL.

It's so so frustrating. But if I look at the big picture, I've lost 16 pounds in less than 2 weeks. So I guess it's normal that my body needs a little time to adjust before dropping more, but that doesn't make it less frustrating.

Thanks MtherGoos....I guess we're both in the same boat...And you are right...bodies are probably taking a break. I looked at my protein, carb, fat ratio...and all is okay. And if I took calories into consideration...I should be absolutely losing weight.
And yes....you are right...understanding all of this doesn't make it any less frustrating.
We'll get through this.....I can honestly say that I feel great!
