Really, freakin really?!?!?! I have been at their house when he was 5 with a giant family size bottle of pepsi and a whole bag of cheese poofs. Sitting on the sofa watching tv eating the whole bag of chips and dowing half the soda in one swig...........AT 5 YEARS OLD!

Tell me again how you don't know it happened.
Omg! Why would they even bring that kind of food in the house if this 16 yo child is 450 lbs? Did they get him any help? I just feel so sad for him. At 16 they are still living at home so this is a good time to provide healthier options. They usually don't have much in terms of their own money to go out and buy tons of junk food.

I was thinking ...it's not the school's job to tell the parents their child is obese, I'm sure they have eyes and can see for themselves. Instead, perhaps, they can provide some parent nutrition classes or offer some kind of help to the parents and the child in question.

Just saying "your child is obese" is not helping anyone.

I know my kid is predisposed because of me and was chunkier when he was younger, even now could stand to lose 20 lbs - is 206 at 6'3". I always try to approach the subject very tactfully, but I'm also very clear with him - he needs to pay attention to what he eats or he may get in weight trouble when he gets older and his metabolism is not going like a Ferrari.

I have taken some measures to clean up the entire family's diet. Going on LC and being responsible for buying and fixing the food, I have been able to mostly manage their carb intake. Used to cook a lot of pasta, they love it, no pasta any more. Last time I cooked it was probably 8-9 months ago.

I never buy soda (which is not to say they don't sometimes go out and buy it themselves, but they are too lazy to even go out sometimes just for that) or cook carby meals. Only carbs they have readily available to them are safe starches like potato and rice, because DH and DS are not on LC. Don't buy bread any more and rarely buy tortillas. Avoid perpackaged foods and grains/flour, I cook from scratch, no high fructose corn syrup, no MSG, only canned food I buy is canned tomatoes and pumpkin, no anything with soybean oil or soy in it, no artificial sweeteners. Just trying to avoid the health risks. Try to buy organic produce whenever available and organic eggs always. Now this excludes the times DH goes out and buys cookes, etc.

It's a lot of work but hopefully pays off in terms of better health if not of WL.

Lindaaaaaa! So glad you've decided to unlurk and chat with us. How is the new house?

You know, I was thinking, with all this activity I should be slimmer, but I'm not. Almost like I breathe air and store fat.

Love you, too!

Melindochka, you are too sweet. You know, unfortunately, he has inherited my big round face with tendency for double chin. So he always look kinda chunky. I know it bothers him, but what can you do.

How's Steven's foot? Won't be long till his play is over and done with. Glad that you and Ken got to go - no one could have stopped you - right? Loved all those school events - wouldn't have missed them for anything.

Have you ever had success with anything besides hcg losing weight? I can't seem to stay on track with any diet I try. Well - I shouldn't say diet - it has to be a way to eat the rest of my life. Why can't veggies taste as good as bacon? Why can't we crave veggies the way we do sugar/salt/fat? When I figure it out - or you do - I'll let you know - you do the same, ok?
I wish there was some magical thing that could be done. I can tell you what helped me.

#1 Find a doctor that understands thyroid. Not one that goes by the charts from 1930.

#2 Have a hormone panel done. The part that hormones play in weight loss is mind blowing.

Because it is tiring to struggle every day, Melindochka, we are only human, we get tired of struggling.

When I was in school the ROTC always did tons of marching...which I know has kept my kid in good shape....but my kid lives for sweets and I tell him all the time with you father's family history of diabetes you need to be careful..

Well girls, we can sit her and belly ache or we can get our buns in gear... Personally I vote for the gear.

If we all start hard core tomorrow morning, excercise and all by the end of the year we will be so hot men will want us and women will want to be us!

Who is with me?

wanted to clarify here i took ephra back in the day Steven would have been way too young and i wouldn't have given him that anyways but man did it work and i felt soo much bette r ALIVE like a person ya know?? took it JUST like it ssaid not like those dumb people that got it banned mis using it did

we (Ken Steven and I ) all started HCG the 8th of oct 2009 in 3 weeks we had lost over 20 ppunds each,, followed every step of the protocol (phases 3 and 4 letter perfect)and kept it off9though Thanksgiving and Christmas even i was amazed!). we all felt better looked better and had HOPE ya know FINALLY something worked just like it said it would we had several successful rounds SIGH then it seemed like all heck broke loose in our lives and while all that was goon g on they(well not outright banned) but have made HCG really hard to get
all that heck breaking loose took away my hope

the protocol is very simple but if your emotions are not strong can be very mentally hard to do that is why we haven't done a round in a year i have enough stocked we both could do a round but honeslty our minds aren't strong enough
