Back from work. Something happened to my crockpot and the hunk of beef I put in there this morning for 8 hrs on slow is still semi-raw and the display read OFF. Didn't lose power, hope it didn't go crazy on me. So had to change gears quickly when I walked in at 5:55 and now I'm cooking and the guys are circling about hungry.

That is a good price!! I wish there was one close but there isn't. Hopefully next week they will be having a good buy on them here. I doubt that good of a buy! Chewie, I hope your son gets over this soon and the rest of your family doesn't come down with it!!

I grew up in a town of 600 people. There were 8 of us girls in our class and we fought like sisters at times!! Most of the time it was fighting over boys!! We used to go on hay rides for a class party. We would get a tractor and borrow a farmer's flat bed trailer and put hay bails on it. Those were some good times!! You could walk all over town and stay out having fun at night without parents worrying. You can't do that here in the big city. There are to many sick people walking around. It's odd because when we graduated you couldn't wait to get out of small town USA. Now I see there are different people I know that has retired and moved back there!! One couple spent their working yrs. in the Houston area!! Now they enjoy the quiet life. Once a week they meet for cards in someones home. Once a month there is a group of ladies who gets together to play games and have lunch, and ever so often there is a town get together with bingo and a cake walk type thing. It all sounds nice to me now also. If it wasn't for having grand babies here I would move back myself I think. Last Memorial Day we were at the cemetery and there are so many people I knew that has died from our little town. It was just kind of a peaceful feeling knowing they were all buried right there together. My MIL still lives there out in the country and she doesn't even have to lock her doors. When she is gone and the delivery guy comes to bring her frozen items like ice cream and such he knows what her order is and she leaves the door open for him!! That is just unheard of in this day and time in almost all places. Melinda if you were here to visit me I would take you out there and show you a good time!!!! LOL Hey if you got bored we could always go to a casino. There is a ton of them here in Okla. The Indians make some good money now a days around here!!!

Eliza...sorry about your crock pot. I'm sure you were looking forward to that wonderful smell of cooked meat when you opened the door. At least if you have to replace it they are pretty cheap.

I grew up in a town of about 5,000 people. It was very charming when I was very young. Safe. Never locked doors. Nice, hardworking people. Big extended family whom i miss like crazy even today.

The older I got though, the fact that everyone was in everyone else's business was funny and uncomfortable. Everyone knew everyone else's business and you couldn't pass gass without people knowing it. Went to HS in a bigger city of 250 K that was nearby, then to an even bigger city of over a million for college, and loved the freedom of anonymity. There was no "what would people say" if I didn't wear the right outfit, etc.

But still miss the sense of community and safety of my small childhood town.

That is exactly what I love about being in the big city....I have no desire to know my neighbors, what they are doing.....don't bother me and I won't bother you....I don't like people in my business....just never grew up that way....I value my privacy.. If I want to share life with you I want it to be my decision.....I don't want to be talked about for believing in certain things....or judged...but that's as I said the way I was brought up.

Good morning friends!

So far my first day off is going well. I got to sleep as long as I wanted, played some computer games with DH, and made burritos. I have a PT appointment at 7:30, so I've been cutting out some coupons and making a shopping list so I can do a bit of shopping while I'm in town.

Good morning all.....
Eliza....I have that sweet little Layla coming over today while DD and Eli go out for a little one on one time. Maybe I'll try and snap a picture or two of her. DD says she is eating like a little pig and her milk supply isn't able to keep up so I guess she is going to be buying formula for her. That is going to cost!!
DD has tried many times and she just will not breast feed. She loves the bottle it seems. DD says they say it is easier to get milk out of a bottle nipple than the real deal. Maybe she is going to have a little lazy steak in her like her nana!

Have a great day all. Mine will be busy later on this morning and evening.

Good morning. I made lamb gyros last night. It was delicious. We haven't had that for a long time since lamb is so expensive. Since everything now is just as much, I figured why not? My boys just love it.

I have a parent conference at the h.s. tonight at 5 pm. I have to sign off on ds14's sophomore class schedule for next year.

It's supposed to rain here today. It seems like it rains every Thursday/Friday. At least we're not the NorthEast though----they are supposed to get a whopper of a snowstorm---like 2 feet!!!!

Sue--enjoy that little Layla.

Eliza--sorry about the crockpot and roast. What a pain!

Melinda--I love sauerkraut on dogs but haven't had it since my surgery. Not sure it'll agree with my new tummy.

Mona--hope you find a bunch of bargains today.

Lony---did you find lots of fun fabrics and a doll????

Lucky--do you have your car back yet? How is your dh?

Aaaaaaaaack! I just lost my post!!!Well, good morning to you all anyway! I hope this is not indicative of the rest of my day. I am feeling paranoid now. I already tried printing off an attachment for purchasing advance tickets to youngest's musical. Of course, it was in Word which of course we do not have. Plus the new google drive what have you doesn't work like in the past and it took over 15 minutes to try to get the document.

Have a busy day on tap. But, it is raining anyway. Yay! We aren't supposed to even get an inch but at this point any little bit helps. Ds has lost his second set of car keys. They have to be here in the house somewhere but we can't find them.I have the very last spare key which I am afraid to hand over to him! He loses this one and he has no vehicle to drive.

Mona, good luck at the PT and hope you get some good coupon bargains.

Sue, have fun with Little Miss Layla.

Lony, I came across an organization that makes "pillowcase" dresses for kids around the world. I bought fabric (or you can use pillowcases in fabric that you cannot see through) and meant to do this but haven't yet. However, the Bible Study group I go to has some gals who meet to do this and I am going to join them on Saturday. I have a link saved if you are interested. It is something like Dress a Girl Around the World. I believe this organization has reps in various states. You can try to find a group near you or do this on your own. There were lots of tips on making the dresses such as not using ribbons for the shoulder ties as they are not sturdy enough over time to making sure that you test fabric to make sure it is not see through, etc. I read where you are going to make some dresses for dolls and thought perhaps you might like to dress a person, too! You could even use the same fabric. LOL sew them at the same time. Anyhow just a thought in case you need something to fill your time.... This group I am joining just sent around 80 dresses to El Salvador I believe it was.

Ok, well, have a great day all. I did get my 42 Lenten Oil Lamp Ornaments done. Although, not without the help of my dh. He helped me a whole big bunch! Tonight is the Exchange of Ornaments. I can't wait to see what others did for their ornaments. Hope mine will be okay. It was the best I could do/come up with in a week's time.

Hi K.C. sorry about the keys. I would get a copy made before giving ds the last key. It will cost a ton more if you don't have a key.

You are such a busy person. Do you like it like that? I never heard of a Lenton oil lamp ornament, what is that? How many people in your group?

Good morning sunshines!

I was a lazy slug yesterday and I didn't make it to the storage to get my stuff. It is first on my list today because we are susposed to be getting another snow storm starting tomorrow.

KCmama I would love the link. Would you mind e mailing it to me please?
