Top 5 Reasons to Lose
I am so inspired by reading the threads about everyone's motivations to stay Low Carb. So here's my list, and I hope to read many others!
1. Get on an airplane and put on a seatbelt without squeezing my body together to close it! 2. Not be the biggest one at my work meetings 3. Clothes shopping! I love fashion, but feel I cannot fully participate at my current size 4. Get healthier, and not cringe when weighing in at the doctor's office 5. Not have to think of an answer for my 4 year old daughter when she asks, "why do you have 2 tummies?" Last edited by RachelAva; 01-25-2013 at 01:55 PM.. |

Great Post.
Here are my top five: 1. To get healthy and be fit as I age. You just don't see many really obese older people because obese people die young. 2. To look the way I want to in clothing and to be able to buy quality clothes for a stylish wardrobe. 3. To not be the biggest person almost everywhere I go, especially in Europe. 4. To not have the first word someone uses to describe me to a stranger be "FAT". I prefer any other adjective such as smart, talented, well dressed, short, blonde,,,, .5. To have people look me in the eye and to not be invisible to people. It is nice when men can see you and open the door for you. When you are obese strangers don't really see you although you are huge and cannot be missed.

These are so inspiring...
1) To be a good example for my kids- especially my daughter 2) Being comfortable in seats- such as the amusement park... 3) To respect and enjoy a healthy body 4) To be strong enough to run, hike, and rock climb 5) To feel good and be able to fit back into my clothes |

great posts everyone!1) Have to agree about the airplane seats, want the next time I take a flight i be able to do up the seat belt instead of having to ask for an seat belt extension and also to be able to put the seat tray all the way down this time. 2) To become fitter and more healthy and not struggle with walking and exercising. 3) To be able to go clothes shopping in all stores instead of the few that sell clothes that i fit into ![]() 4) To be able to go out and not feel like everyone is watching me and judging me before they even know me 5) To have more confidence and speak up for myself more. Great thread x |

The last time my daughter came home from college she disappointedly said "nothing's changed" ....
The next time I see her in March (Spring Break), I want her to be proud of me and proud of the changes I've made. |

As far as plane seats.. I have been there, done that!! I know how you feel! When I was near my heaviest, I was flying home for a visit and my belt just didn't fit.. I was so embarrassed that I pulled it across myself and just pretended it was buckled. I am near goal and now I love flying and don't ever want to worry about it again.. I still have some to lose and am hoping I can take about 20 off before April because I am going on a trip that will require a bathing suit! I don't think I will ever feel comfortable even at goal to wear one!

I once told a flight attendant that I needed an extender because I was pregnant... I even thought it out ahead of time so I could tell her how far along I was, etc... In retrospect, I'm pretty sure she was on to me. I mean...you don't get pregnant all over your body! lol Funny now, but soooo embarassing then...

I have never been on an airplane for fear of not fitting in the seats! SO:
1. Being able to fit in any chair or booth is my #1 2. My son lives near Denver so I want to be able to hike a mountain with him. 3. Be able to shop for clothes in "normal" stores instead of having to get them online ...and the darn necks being so huge on shirts! My body is fat but, im sorry my neck isnt that big ! 4. Lose the insecurity feeling....Im always feeling like people are watching and laughing at me whenever Im out in public.

I'm new to lcf, but I just started my journey and I'm looking forward to all the support here! My goals are similar so here I go!
1. Get pregnant with #1 (have insulin resistance so not so easy, but losing weight should help) 2. Fit in any booth/seat. We just went back home for Christmas and I was dreading the plane so bad! I just crossed the belt over my lap and pretended it was buckled 3. Shop in the normal clothes department 4. Be more confident 5. Surprise my family with my new look when I see them this Christmas! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

My reasons back in 2001 were rather morbid when I was 52 yrs old. I was in a dark place, on lots of medicine and thought this disease was going to kill me
1. I didn't want to get buried in an oversized coffin 2. I didn't want my brothers to be huffing and puffing when they carried the casket down the aisle in church. (Never thought about cremation) 3. I didn't want to have to use a c-pap machine for sleep apnea the rest of my life 4. I wanted to be able to get off the couch without help. 5. I wanted my joints to not ache when I climed the stairs Today, i want to keep my healthy weight at age 65 yrs old this month because 1. My life has taken a 360 degree turn and I love life. 2. I feel great and have healthy numbers for sugars, cholesterol and bp. 3. I can walk 4-5 mies a day if I want. 4. I can buy clothes off the rack and not through mail order 5. I have a great job that I am happy in. 6. I am active member of my family today and not watching from the sidelines. I regret all the missed opportunities with my children when they were young. If you are young, grab hold of this opportunity to get healthy. You won't regret it. Last edited by MaryMary; 02-19-2013 at 03:39 AM.. |

My 5 Reasons
-To have the energy to chase my twins around even when I get home from work.
-To feel like I fit in with my friends, they're all beautiful girls and they treat me just like a they would anyone else but I still feel like I don't belong amongst them. -To have the energy to take those breathtaking hikes I used to enjoy so much. -Shopping... oh how I miss enjoying shopping |

Great thread!
Mine are: 1. Maintain mobility as I get older. There are already things I can't do, like climb a ladder to change light bulbs or to paint a room. (I'm way over the weight limit for our ladder.) I don't want to end up as one of those elderly people who can't do normal daily life things. 2. Now that my grandchildren are all teens, let them be able to see their grandmother at a "normal" size. I don't want them to be embarrassed to be seen with me. Very important: My oldest grandson graduates from high school next year, and I want to look decent for that, and to be able to walk up the bleachers to sit if there aren't enough chairs on the main floor at graduation. 3. Let my husband be able to enjoy having a smaller wife for once. Right after we got married, I gained a lot of weight, then discovered that I had become hypothyroid. I've not yet been able to get down to under 275 ever since. I HOPE for that to change. 4. To be able to find decent clothes that fit. At size 26+, there just isn't that much to choose from, no matter how much the companies tout their "plus size" selections. It would be so nice to be able to wear a pair of regular-length snow boots again, instead of always having to buy the shortest ones available. Ankle boots don't help much when you live in snow country. ![]() 5. To be able to participate fully in life again, which I haven't really done in over 30 years. The weight truly has become a prison. ![]()

This really struck me when I read it and almost made me tear up.. I'm the biggest i've ever been right now and the weight is taking a serious toll on my body and health and I just want to be able to chase my kids around the yard and get down on the floor and play with them.. Thanks MaryMary.. you are inspiring!

1) To not succumb to the obesity trend that plagues my fathers' side of the family and led to his death two years ago at 61.
2) To be more comfortable in my own skin, regardless of what weight that happens at. 3) To never turn down an activity because I'm self-conscious about how I might look doing it or like rock climbing or hiking if I'll be able to do it. Especially to not have to make excuses for not doing more active things with my partner. 4) To be able to go clothes shopping without considering how something drapes or if it will accentuate my back fat or love handles |

Avoid the diabetes and heart disease that runs in my family on both sides.
No more "fat pillows" when sitting on someone's couch. Be able to go into my closet and wear what I want and not have to stretch my shirts to hide my belly roll. Be able to outrun the zombies! ![]() |

1. I used to be able to wax my bikini area. Now I would be happy if I could just see it without a mirror.
2. So I can sunbathe while sleeping on the beach without waking to find people attempting to drag me back into the water. At this point, I would be happy to even have the courage to go to the beach. I haven't put a bathing suit on in 2 years. I was even considering converting to Islam so I can wear a birkini. 3. So my boobs are no longer in two different time zones. 4. So I can go buy tires without being asked if I am there to apply for the position as the Michelin man. 5. So my dog doesn't run away when I trip for fear of being crushed.

1. So I can babysit my granddaughter and not worry she will run into the street and I won't be able to catch her before a car hits her because I am so fat.
So I can play with her easily and have fun. So she won't remember her Grammie as 'a fat lady'.2. So I won't get diabetes and all the horrible stuff that goes with that. 3. So I can stop taking so many meds and stop being in pain every moment of every day. So I can avoid knee surgery. So I can even clean my own house again! 4. So I can live again, feel young again; hike in the mountains, canoe, swim, bike, travel and make some friends so I won't be so lonely anymore. 5. So I won't be 'the' fat one in the room, be embarrassed wherever I go, so I can look wonderful in beautiful clothes and have a closet full of them and they all fit!!! ~ Last edited by heidihoopi; 03-24-2013 at 02:01 PM.. |
