Well since I added in the One Minute Muffin everyday I've started losing weight in a different pattern....I usually only lose every fourth week but now I'm losing weight again and it's only two weeks since the last time I lost anything. Weird since my calories are higher than they were and my digestive tract seems to be happier with me as well....other weird thing is that my normal body temperature usually runs at 97.3 but has been "normal" at 98.6....I'm wondering if my metabolism is shifting (FINALLY).

Hi all,
Been a while but life is just manic at the moment with work etc. Trying out some recipes today - breaded courgette (zuccini) crisps (made with almond flour) - did not end up being very crisp as all the coating stuck to the pan! scraped it all off and ate it as a mush and it was delicious! Need to rethink the recipe though! Just trying out my first cake recipe - it's in the oven now, will let you know if any good! Congrats on your losses everyone, sounds like you are all doing brilliantly!! |

Mmmmm!! Just at one of my cakes, they tasted amazing!! Boyfriend doesn't like them but he's used to living off sugar!
Here we go: Peach and coconut cakes 2.5 nectarines or peaches (half of one was a bit mouldy!) 100g almond flour Large chunk of ginger (approx 2 inches) 50g coconut shavings 2 eggs 100g butter 1 teaspoon cinnamon 2 teaspoons baking soda Add everything to a blender, then divide mix into 12 paper cake cases or a greased muffin tin. Cook on 180 degrees until brown. Total carbs = 4 grams per cake, 165 cals |

Whew, we got internet installed last night but I have been so used to being without it that I didn't get on the computer LOL. The move went pretty uneventful. Most boxes are unpacked, but there is still much organizing to do.
We are waiting for a contractor to come tonight to trim the countertop in the kitchen so the new free standing oven can be placed. I have been cooking with the electric skillet and crock pot since Saturday. The house is about 300 sq feet more than the other one; maybe more walking and steps will help with weight loss HA. Apparently we are in for a big snow storm that has been predicted for days. The onset and snow totals keeps changing hourly. I better get back to work gang, will check in later.

Increments
I have over 100 pounds to loose and I've been frustrated a lot trying to do so then when I saw some posts to take it in increments, i.e. 5 pounds or something at a time, I was like, why didn't I think of that?
Here's to losing weight happily and not frustratingly! ![]() |

Well thank you Alabama Sunshine! If I wanted to be the weight my doctor wants me to be, I'd have to loose about 150 but I'll be happy if I can just lose 100#! I'm hoping by being here that I will not fall off the wagon any more - I've been trying to do it myself for the last 6 weeks and I kept falling down
and I'm tired of doing that so here I am!Have a wonderful evening |

Welcome ak laura!
Thinking of it in terms of increments and not the whole amount is SO much easier. And we ALL fall off the wagon...we're human. You just have to catch yourself when you do and don't think "Well I already screwed up today, to heck with it, I'm going to eat whatever I want for the rest of the day and restart tomorrow." Restart with the very next think you put in your mouth. Once I got used to that mindset sticking to it became alot easier for me. |

Welcome Laura! Im new here too.
I also find that staying on the forum helps keep me on track. We all do fall off the wagon. This is my third time back...and as they say, third time is a charm...I sure hope so. I dont want to have to do this again, though I know maintenance isnt easy either. |

Thanks for the encouragement everyone! I'm ready to give this a go this time and it is helping to be able to come on here and discuss with folks who are in the same boat as I am. Its helping me to be honest with myself and my weight. I truly want to lose weight, I want to be able to move this summer, as in walking on the beach, going fishing and mild hikes (I love to take photos) - I'm going to hang on as tight as possible to that goal of moving and hang out with you all, with this going for me, where can I go wrong?

I had my appt. with the doctor yesterday about my knees,I was suggested to lose at least 100 pounds to have knee replacement surgery. The doctor said patients are having complications with infections and not healing well. So to safeguard myself if i lose at least 100 pounds ,i will possbily not have a high risk for complications. So I'm gonna get down to 300 pounds then call and make another appt.
Has anyone seen Teresa? I hope shes okay.I'll check in later.Have a good weekend. ![]() ![]() |

Hi everyone, this is the thread I started on back on 2001. You guys encouraged me to shoot for small increments. It works. Today I still do that. I had a period in 2011 where I gave up and gained 32 lbs in 7 weeks, then it took me a whole year to loose it. I try to remember that so long as I keep doing what I am doing, I don't have to get back on the wagon again. It is easier to stay on the wagon that to have to climb back on. Once you get going, don't jump off. Sometimes easier said than done.

It was this one or one very similar. Possibly the one for those over 300 lbs. memory isn't what it used to be. Whichever one, it saved my life and gave me a new beginning.

Newbie here,
Hi everybody,
Glad to be here. I've been on the Atkins for one month. Expecting to really lose weight because I have been really diligent on the plan. And you know what......Nada. Not one pound. My metabolism is dead. Must be... Even gave up all but mostly meat/eggs. My count is around 5-10 grams daily. I gave up all veggies, diet sodas and even my one Miller Light 2.6 g. I do have diet jello with 2 T. HWC. And same cream with my morning cup of coffee. What else can I do to jumpstart this. It took 2 wks to hit Ketosis. I will say that I have lost about 1 dress size. So something is right. I want this to be a lifestyle change and intend to stick with this forever. Ha. Got any suggestions? Thanks to all. |

Hi Mary ,Lindy and Rebecca.Trying another week,of not falling off the wagon.I can understand what you say about metabolism. My mobilty is either in a wheelchair or using a walker.I try to excerise sitting, but I know I need more. But with baby steps I'll get back to more movement.I'm thinking about a detox for a few days to get moving a little faster.

Hey ladies....anyone still around? Winifred---I wanted to check in on you---how's everything going? I'm struggling, but trying to get myself back together. Life is just kind of sucky right now and for whatever reason I'm just having a hard time overcoming it all. But I'm trying.

Im here...was just thinking about this thread and that I hadnt seen anything. I thought I had gotten dropped from it somehow.
I have lost some, but stalled for three weeks. Totally my fault. I made some low carb chocolates, and my self control went out the window. Then I was eating too many calories. Next I found (and have fallen in love with) coconut butter. And again, I am having self control/portion control issues. I would loose better if I could cut my calories. But Im more hungry than I have been and I am having both portion control and self control problems. I got some chia seeds and have made some pudding with them, and that has helped some...though I may go back to my pudding with glucomannan as it has fewer calories. I have realized, I think, that this has to be a life style and not a diet, and so I think that is good. To date, I have lost 35 pounds since January, with 10 pounds being last month. But only a half pound over the last 3 weeks...with the issues I have had. Glad to see this thread is going again. I am on a couple of other threads, but no one posts anything but their results and if you ask a question or for some kind of feedback it seems to fall into an abyss and no one answers. Not what I remember this board being like the last time I was here. ![]() Hope everyone had a good Easter!

She's Alive! ;D
Hi all, I see the board is alive again
and I see others have been having problems too with sticking to eating for wellness. I lost 5 pounds and just stayed there, only because I went back to not tracking my food or walking. Sort of fell in this black hole for a tad but am ready to try again! So here we all go - one foot in front of the other! ![]() |

I'd love to come back!
Hey everyone.. would love to come back - because it's never too late!! Fell off the wagon but am back on.. Here is what I wrote in my journal today:
Here I am hopeful because it is yet another Monday. I am sipping on my coffee, had a slice of cheese because I am starving.. and deciding what to have for breakfast. I want to go to the pool for some water exercise and don’t want a big heavy breakfast. I think I’ll make a protein smoothie and sip on it prior to going (I am still hungry – the cheese and coffee aren’t helping much) and then finish it when I get home. My intention is to stay under 25 net carbs a day. If I start having Atkins Flu symptoms I may have a bit more and taper down as the days go on. I will have 1 low carb drink during cocktail hour if I really want it. Who am I kidding, of course I will want it!! I find that if I say I WON’T, then I crave it even more. I will count it towards my total net carbs. Today’s outing will be to the grocery store where I will get some good quality grass fed/organic ground beef to make several different things.. Meatballs, taco meat, meatloaf to name a few. Love those things and never feel deprived when I have them! Oh, and I’ll pick up lots of organic veggies, too! Another thing that I am trying today… I talk so negatively to myself. No one EVER hated themselves thin. We must love ourselves enough to take care of ourselves. Whether it be cut down on the booze, eat better, sleep more, move our bodies, etc. I am really trying to bring my subconscious thoughts to my conscious mind. When I catch myself spewing words of hate about myself and my body I am going to snap a rubber band that I put around my wrist. Although it isn’t the best fashion statement, we’ll see how that goes. Have a super day.. looking forward to staying in touch!
