Long couple of days.. dealing with stomach virus stuff with my DD.... went from being up for over 24hrs Thursday dealing with her, to sleeping on and off all day yesterday.. all of it reflecting on the scale, I'm sure

A full pound up from my lowest point, but I spent what felt like an eternity hovering between 295 and 297. I've been sick this week with a abscess on my face, and stabbing pain in my abdomen (plus the side effects from the medications they've put me on). So I've got Mt Vesuvius growing out of my forehead and I can't lay on my left side, or breathe too deeply. In this context, 291.6 isn't so bad. I'll get below 290 soon enough.

For now I am content simply to be maintaining. This week's 'bounce' is last week's 'unlikely goal'. I'm already at the gate to the 280s. Once I start dropping again, there's no way I won't end up on the other side.

@kali88: Don't be too hard on yourself - everyone deserves pizza a few times a year. I've determined that I need a few pizzas a year to survive. I had one in october, and one at the beginning of January. I'll probably have another in May. I order a large with absolutely everything I want on it, eat the whole thing over the course of a day, and never feel an ounce of guilt. The next day, I buckle down, and go right back to full compliance. It's tough for a week or so, as I work through the withdrawals, and then I'm right back in the groove. You're committed, so I'm sure you'll get right back to full compliance as well.

Also, you're down 13.9 pounds this month - that's a good month by any standard. Most of what you picked up will evaporate just as quickly, because it's water weight, and you'll be back down to 14.7 on the month.

@Phranquie: Look at you go! You should also be quite pleased with your monthly total so far. 15.6 pounds and the month isn't even over yet!

@DesertGurl: Arizona represent! OK, I'm new here, but I've been trying to find a way to live here for 5 years. I've been a desert dweller in spirit my whole life. It's easy to stick with it when you're putting up the big numbers. But that isn't what will get you to the end of this road - It's how you react to a tough month that decides success or failure in the long term. A lot of people give up the first time they stall for a week, but you're in here, every single day, with as much enthusiasm as anyone here. You're honest with yourself, and everyone else. And you bring a wonderful energy to this thread. With your dedication, and indefatigable positivity - there's no way you can fail in the long run.

@Blondie302: A lot of people wouldn't have had the courage to go through the crisis of esteem you went through, and share it with the group. Even fewer would have had the strength of character to jump back into the mix. You hit a rough patch, and completely erased the 'damage' in 10 days. I am really glad that you got back in the mix with us. It wouldn't be the same without you here.

@tangolover: Under 300! WOO HOO! It's ok to do the dance at this point.

@Rayne_W: Take heart amid the deepening gloom that your dog is finally getting enough cheese; And reflect that whatever misfortune may be your lot, it could only be worse in Milwaukee.

Once you can eliminate some of the stress from your life, and regain feeling in your fingers and toes after they thaw out, it'll be easier to lose weight. Life has a way of throwing us curveballs. And hitting us with them. Also it's more like monkey wrenches.



I guess what I'm trying to say is it can't be wrenches in the face all the time. Hang in there, things will be looking up soon enough.

@nomorepepsi: Welcome back to the thread!

@Parisfox, Terri B, Passion68, and anyone else I missed: It got late and I ran out of cleverness. But I promise I'm watching. I know I don't do a very good job of keeping track of everyone else's stats, and tribulations and achievements and you've all done such a good job making me feel welcome. Z.......Great words of wisdom. Thanks. I've certainly had my UPS (along with only minor downs) this month. I have GOT to do better in the future and put a stop to self-sabotage and bouncing around. I'm tired of ending a month with just a small loss overall. I know I'll be glad when winter is over so I can get out and about more often. I envy you AZ people.....maybe not so much in the summer, but definitely in the winter.

Another day at the hospital with the BF's mom who is now totally delusional because of not eating and drinking. I am holding on for now and turning to sipping diet coke instead of eating fritos or a candy bar from the vending machine. Plus coming here every day to post helps me stay in line.

Terri- I know how hard it is to give up caffeine! Maybe try cutting back by 1/2 cup each day this week to ease into it? I totally agree with you on posting weight here every day makes me accountable. When I post it is public and I have to own it so it keeps me on track.

Susan- Hang in there. You can make that goal next month,,,I know you can! Tell your doc that you did get down to 268 the other day.

Tango- Gratz to you on getting below 300! For me it was a big deal to not have a "3" before my weight. Keep up the good work!

Judy-It has been warm here in Dallas and I still haven't done much as far as getting out and being active. But I do feel for those of you in colder climates. I won't tell you that it was warm enough that I was driving with my convertible top down several times this week.

Kali- I do have planned higher carb days. As long as I am not in a bingey mood and it is planned I have a portion of what I want. I feel like I am trying to eat a way that I can live with long term. If I feel deprived it won't work for me. Luckily most of the LC foods I eat I really like, but once in a while I want hummus and fresh baked pita from a middle eastern restaurant or I want fried calamari or a few cups of popcorn. So I have it. One portion and I am good. I wait until we go out so I cannot overdo it. I often don't even finish my portion. You'll bounce back down in a day or so.

Z- Yep, I am very happy with my loss this month. It is like each pound lost motivates me to stay on plan. I think you are doing great considering you are sick and on meds. If I am sick I do not lose anything. Have you spoken to the dock to let him know that the meds are hurting your stomach? I hope you start feeling better soon!

A little disappointed, because I always step on my sons digital scale as soon as I wake up. Usually, his scale weighs me about 1 lb lighter than my "official" scale that I use at work. This morning, DS's scale said 217.4! I was like so I stepped off and stepped on again. . . 217.4! I mumbled to myself and said "that's crazy". So, before I got in the shower, I took some measurements. Sure enough, measurements didn't show any change. I guess his scale is a little wack today for whatever reason.

Turns out my lousy DDs are at maintenance level -- so I've wound up taking an unplanned break from weight loss this month. Way too much on my mind to cope with <500 cals every other day, I just can't do it.
