Thanks, Melinda. I don't expect I'll be perfect forever. I just hope and plan to really work this "honeymoon" period. I really want to be healthier and feel better more than anything(even more than ice cream!)

I hope so but I just hope I don't have to bite off my tongue. Every time I've seen mil since my surgery, she always says "Oh you poor thing, I hope this works." It makes me so angry. I told her last week to stop saying that and that I made this choice and it WILL work. GRRRRRRR Hate that.

ooooh, espresso shake sounds delicious! Yummmmm! Yeah, unfortunately they are all loaded with sugars, and even Atkins has the artificial sweeteners in them which are pretty toxic for the body. Only sweetener I'm ingesting now is Stevia.

I buy Pure Whey Isolate because it has no added sugars or artificial sweeteners.

Omg, Chewie, your MIL is something else ....I would be angry, too. It's not too much to ask for a bit of moral support from her, or at least for her to keep her lips closed if she is incapable of giving you moral support.

Maybe your DH can talk to her and ask her to stop it already!

Well, eyebrows have been waxed into submission and I'm ready to re-enter the workforce tomorrow. They had grown a bit out of control these past two weeks....

I understand my mother in law wasn't a nice person either....like I told my son, when this kid who played tenor drums before my son....he used to bullly my son....I used to tell him to use that as motivation..finally last year the kid admitted he was in awe of my son's talent...I have often heard the way to shut up people is success..

All the protein I drink is low carb and sf. I don't care what kind of sweetener it uses for now. That may change in the future.

How far do you have to drive to your work place? How many hours a week do you put in anyway?

Did your dh have to start drops in his eye today too? I hate drops so much. Guess it has to be done.
Linda, he had to start Saturday. I live 13 miles from work and I work 40 hours a week. I ususally go see my mother at the nursing home every day on my lunch hour, but I told her I may not make it this week.

Linda...here is a wonderful recipe if you need to get rid of the DW. It can be dangerous it is so good! Goes wonderful with a cup of coffee!

Almond Joy Protein Bars

1 1/2 oz. unsweetened baking chocolate
2 Tbsp. butter
2 Tbsp. cream
5 packets Splenda (more or less to taste)
1 cup Designer Protein, chocolate flavor
1 1/4 cups finely chopped almonds
1 cup unsweetened coconut
2 Tbsp. Splenda-sweetened coconut syrup

Heat chocolate and butter in microwave, stirring every minute until completely melted and smooth. Stir in cream and Splenda. Add protein powder, almonds and coconut and mix together well. Sprinkle syrup over all and mix, using hands to "knead" mixture thoroughly. Pat into a small baking pan or plastic container. Chill then cut into small bars- I usually get 16 from this recipe, but I eat them 2 at a time!

Per Serving (excluding unknown items): 265 Calories; 26g Fat (80.2% calories from fat); 6g Protein; 8g Carbohydrate; 4g Dietary Fiber; 13mg Cholesterol; 37mg Sodium.

Call me a crazy wacko, but I just got me a FitBit. It tracks steps and calories burned during different activities and it has a website where you log in to check activity levels and you can also track food intake, calories and such. I guess there is also a cell phone app to do the same. I know what it will tell me - that I am a slow lazy butt that has the activity levels of a slug.

I need to move more and eat less and some kind of motivation.....Apart from hiring someone to nag me every hour to get off my tukus and move, this is the best I can do. I have felt a bit discouraged with myself and my efforts as of late.

Thanks Chewie - unfortunately I was afraid of that. Probably the ones that taste the best have way too many carbs. Wonder why they have to be so sweet tasting anyway?

Sue - this is powder in the recipe - right? What am I going to do with the 3 bottles of liquid that I have here - too sweet for me. Hate to waste it and just pitch it out.

Eliza - and once again I could have posted this. I always say I need a cook that won't let me go in the kitchen, a trainer that won't leave my side, and someone to crack the whip - or kick me in the tuckus to move it, move it and then move it some more. Here I thought it would be easier if I were working again - that I wouldn't be in the kitchen all the time feeding my face. Well, guess that's not the case either. Sometimes I feel my body is so against me. I have all the best of intentions eating wise - like you mentioned the other day - your body craves what it needs - whether it's good or bad for you. It's so tiresome fighting the same old battle...........

Thank you Deb. I have written it down and will be looking for this this week. Sure sounds like what I'm looking for - and since you said it didn't taste that sweet to you - I will definitely give it a try.

Anything new on the car? Did you say it was an 03 cavalier?
