Yesterday, I was feeling so melancholy. Almost like I had buyers remorse over my surgery. I was feeling sorry for myself and sad that I can't eat. Plus I couldn't get my shake down yesterday either.

2013 is going to be a positive year for me. I am going to strive to always look for the blessings and positive things in life. That is a big goal.

Boy Chewie...hate to sound like a mother.. but THANK GOD, he wasn't invited...

Even though my son is feeling better.. He didn't go out either.. I am so happy about that...

I hope your nap, if it's in your future is a nice restful one...

Thanks, Melinda, no nap today. Parents are coming at 3. That's ok, maybe I'll sleep better tonight.

Yes, you are so right. The surgery was a tool, nothing more. It didn't change my brain. Too bad they don't have a surgery for that besides a lobotomy.

This looks good.

Candice’s Low-Carb Chili

Makes 10 servings(about 1 cup size)

Ingredients:

5 tablespoons chili powder
3 tablespoons cumin powder
3 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 tablespoon paprika
4 teaspoons (1TB+1tsp)kosher salt
2 lb ground beef(I use 85/15)
2 lb lean ground pork
1 bell pepper(about 8oz), chopped(any color, I usually use red)
1 onion(about 7oz), chopped(any color)
1 tablespoon oil(I use canola, use whatever you like)
14 ounces of crushed tomatoes(can’s usually come in 28oz size, so use 1/2 the can)
1-19oz can kidney beans(equals 2 cups after drained/rinsed)
3 cups water
Measure out all spices and 1 Tablespoon of salt, set aside.
In a large skillet brown ground beef & pork until fully cooked in two batches. Drain fat off. Use the remaining 1 teaspoon of salt to season meat while cooking(1/2 tsp per batch).
In a medium/large pot, heat oil. Add your chopped onion and bell pepper. Cook on medium/low until the bell peppers are slightly softened and onions are translucent & browned.
Add your cooked meats, spices, crushed tomatoes, and water to the pot. Stir well, turn heat up to high and bring to a simmer. Turn down heat to LOW, cover and cook for 30 minutes. Take lid off and stir a few times over the 1/2 hour period. Add beans and turn up heat to LOW/MED(like one notch), cook uncovered for 15 – 20 minutes more.

Oh, here is my repost from the December thread:

I'm not quite as sick as I was but I still have an annoying cough and a lot of crud in my head. Yes I did give it to Dh but he has been over it for over a week now and I still have it!

Glad that your sugars weren't really that high. Good luck with your surgery.

Home from work! Speaking of laundry I have to do some. Working a 5 day week and I only own 4 pairs of work pants....so doing the complicated algebraic equations leaves me 1 pair short.

It's 32 here and very foggy. Had a ton of traumas come into the ED last night. I was working in blood bank. Kept busy all night long so the night went by fast.

Chewie that chili does look good. Except for the pork that pretty much looks like my recipe.

I think it's pretty common to have post surgery remorse. I read about that alot on the obesity dot com forums. Overall it sounds like you are making really good food choices. There will be up times and down times. Just keep pluggin along and before you know it, you will be showing off that sexy dress.

Good Moring Sunshines and Happy New Year!

Melinda I am going to give you a round of applause for being determined on your walking and a big hug

Chewie, I am sorry you were sad. It is really hard when you enjoy food. The cooking the planning the buying and of course the eating. I am sure you will find something to fill that void in your life. You can do this. Sometimes I try to think of food as poison so I don't get obsessed with it. You get big hugs too!

Mona you should have just thrown your laundry in with mine. Like would have even noticed! I hope you get to feeling better very, very soon!!

Hi Mona, hope you feel better soon.

Melinda--good job on the walking. Hope the back calms down.

Thanks, Lony. I'm trying not to focus on the loss of the food but after decades, it's very hard. I'll get through this.

My dh went and got me 3 helium balloons that say Happy Birthday on them. LOL They were for my 4 week anniversary--which was yesterday. He's a nut.

His friends are underage but there were older people there, no parents, and that's not good. I don't know what happened, will find out today but he was sad because he wasn't invited. Then when he found out about the police, he was glad. He doesn't drink but you never know.

I don't think anything makes a mother sadder than when their kids are hurting.
Awwwww, Chewie, sad he wasn't invited, but on the other hand how lucky for him he wasn't there! Don't wanna deal with the police on New Year's.
