Gas was $2.99 a gallon on my way back to the office.

Hey, Lucky, sorry to hear the pain is that intense. You know, it might be a really wise thing to have another staff member in there with you, just in case.

Lucky--hope you get some pain relief soon.

My work day just knocked me out. DS17 picked me up and I just came home, put on my pjs and went to bed. Woke up to my alarm about 3 hours later and I had not moved an inch. I was and am still tired. I am having a harder time getting my water in but if I finish this last bottle, it'll be at 56 ounces plus my shake. I still have to have another shake today and get up to 64 oz but now at least it's doable.

Back from picking up dd from Musical practice and getting her to dance. Then I stopped at Sam's Club for gas and a few items--like Toilet Paper as we were almost out! Gas was $3.04. Yay!! I have meatballs simmering in a mushroom sauce and some grain mix going on the stove to go with.

What has been happening the last few hours?

Lony....are you sending your niece cookies from aunt Lony? I'm thinking you must be the very best aunt in the world (besides from my oldest sis).
Chewie....most likely you needed the sleep. I'm sure your body is still thinking, what in the world did you do to me!!LOL How about telling hubs to have the kids finish decorating the tree for you?
Eliza.....Here is hoping that your next anniversary will be a great one. I'm sorry this one isn't the greatest. I guess just be grateful that hubs is home where you can reach across the bed and put your cold feet on him. So many men and women are so far away from home. Maybe you can celebrate in a few days instead!!!
Lucky....I hope you get to feeling better soon. Could this have come at a worse time than the holidays?!! Hugs and prayers for you.
Deb....I know you must be so proud of Steven!!
Mona....what kind of weather are you having up your way? Do you get snow there?
kcmama.....did I miss a video of your daughter singing????? I'll have to go back a few pages to check. I haven't been on much with Eli here.
Oh Melinda........Get some clothes on! You do know that Santa is watching you don't you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been thinking of Seth for some reason. Has anyone seen him around on FB? I hope he is doing ok.
Sweet dreams everyone!

Hello ladies! I just woke up. My kitchenaid mixer is here! Surprised since I wasn't expecting it for a few days. Now I can use it to do some holiday baking I planned over the weekend.

Lony my mom's favorite cookies are sandies (also called Russian tea cakes or Mexican wedding cookies). They are pretty delicate though, so maybe they wouldn't be the best choice for shipping? I am going to be making those pecan shortbread cookies I posted a recipe for earlier. I finally found some caramel bits. Not going to make my own caramel...I have limited time. Only 2 days off this "weekend" and I have to do my normal chores as well. I also like to make these things called toffee bars. It's like a rich shortbread dough pressed into a pan then chocolate and nuts on top. They are pretty sturdy. I like to make frosted sugar cookies but those will be OUT for shipping. LOL. I mean the wet sort of frosting and then sprinkle colored sugar on top. I have never made the sort of decorated sugar cookies like you do, where the frosting is "set". Oh, and fudge. That should travel well.

Too bad I just missed you! Oh well I will just have to console myself by unpacking my new mixer.

Good morning and happy Thursday! Sorry I didn't Check in last night. Came home late, cooked, by the time we ate dinner and chatted, it was time for bed!

Mona, enjoy your new mixer! So happy for you! We need pictures, of course.

Everyone have a great Thursday!

I'm off to an all-day training. My kids will be with a sub today. Hope it's not the same sub we had for my friend the other day because that lady was not good and the kids went bonkers.

Good Morning sunshines!

Miss Mona, your cookies will ship ok. What I would recommend is getting some cheap plastic wear and start by wadding up some waxed paper like tissue. Use the waxed paper to cushion your cookies. Seperate your layers with waxed paper and repeat. Once you have your container full wad up more waxed paper for the top and then put the lid on. Give the conatiner a good shake. If you hear any movement then pull everything out and start over. Put everything in a box filled with packing peanuts, bubble wrap or popcorn. Your cookies should get there fresh and safe.

Thanks Lony! I already have the cheap plastic containers. I got some red holiday themed ones with snowmen on them. Awwwww.

Well I've broken in my mixer! Made two batches of cookie dough so far. It's got vanilla and flour on it. LOL. So far I've made chewie ginger-molassas cookies (first time I made them and they are good!) and I've got my pecan thumbprint dough chilling in the fridge.

Morning Eliza! Hope you have a good training day.

Ooops by "chewie" I mean chewy. I am not making cookies out of our friend.

How are you feeling today Chewie? Ya, I'll bet going back to work wiped you out. *nod* Did you work a half day? Gotta ease back into it. It's amazing how simple things are so tiring after surgery. Take care.

I hadn't thought of naming it. I guess I'm not Klassy.

Yea so far I really really it. I love how solid it is! All the parts are made of metal. No one makes stuff this quality anymore. I feel so lucky that I was able to get a kitchenaid finally after lusting after one for so many years. Big high five going out to KCMama for finding the deal for me.

I should've taken a "before" picture when it was all clean. LOL Here it is in action! Doing what it was born to do.....mix stuff and get messy!

Here are the chewy ginger-molassas cookies. They are milder than a ginger snap and instead of being "snappy" they are chewy.

They are sort of crinkly on top. I rolled them in granulated sugar. It might have been more dramatic if I used that chunky type of sugar but I don't have any and I'm not holding up cookie production for it. They taste great.

Oh the horror~!

You know I'm so tickled it came earlier than expected. I can make my Christmas cookies with it.

How are you feeling today Lucky? Is the medicine helping any?
